"A mighty kick-off for a fabulous series, A classic, yet it has no old-feeling"

Tekken... The game that "started" the competition and ended the monopoly of the 3D fighting's regime of Virtua Fighter...

As stated above, it stirs up quite a competition between VF, and is definitely a classic.

Alright, let's start off with...

Graphics (9/10)

For the time, it was simply a great achievement. The graphics were pixelized, but you couldn't do any better in 1994. The special effects are nice, and connect well with the special moves. The general character models are slick, and the particle effects are descriptive.

The special FMV's of this game are simply astounding, and look really nice, and acts as a sweet reward for beating Heihachi. It's a goal to shoot for to see all of them, because of their nice graphics. Too bad the hidden characters don't have an ending...

The stages are nice, no ring-outs or anything... I really liked the stadium stage... it was a nice twist.

Sound (9/10)

Loud and clear. The voice effects are lively, and I especially prefer Kazuya's yell when he attacks. The hit sounds sound nice. Just like bones crushing. It's crisp and lively. That's all you need right?

Controls (10/10)

The controls are responsive, and moves are executed with ease, having no problems in juggling opponents successfully. Each of the characters have dozens of moves, each starting juggles, connecting them, ending them, or just non juggle heavy hitters.

Gameplay (10/10)

The gameplay is smooth, and the stages are ongoing, and they stretch forever. It's funny when you leave a character alone and thought bubbles appear on their head... a nice joke. Also, Galaga is added as a bonus, but I won't be reviewing Galaga, since Tekken should be the main review target.

Replay/UNLOCKABLES (9/10)

This game has a plethora of unlockable characters, movies and more. The game is worth playing over and over, and it remains a classic today. Even if you play Tekken 5 and switch to playing this, Tekken doesn't feel like some old, hippy game. Tekken has led on its traditional gameplay for many years, now over a decade, and it has fit many gamer's tastes well indeed.

This game sure is a classic, and it doesn't feel old at all. Tekken has evolved into a mighty series, and is an impressive mark in gaming history. Tekken's achievements have impressed me, and when I go back to playing Tekken 1, I'm simply excited to see the improvements made to each addition.
