Um Jammer Lammy
Review by MajorasWrath
"Is is rockstar music? Naahh, that's Um Jammer Lammy!"
Introduction
This is the oft forgotten sequel of an oft forgotten game, Parrapa the Rapper. My uncle gave me this unknown thing. This game, by the way, has way too many glitches, such as if you press one button, it thinks you pressed a different one, and that's what drops the score. Anyway, this game is mostly about music, and don't forget, pressing plenty of buttons very fast.
Storyline 7/10
Lammy has to make it to her Milkcan concert. She will have to go concert after concert to get there. It can get weird at times, such as when she flings over some place. It they should have done something better than that. A bit confusing on how she gets there, but oh well.
Graphics 9/10
They are pretty good, and everyone is flatter than paper! The audience are items, but the backgrounds are very colorful. It is really 3D looking, though, and you ill just wonder how they did all of it. In all, the graphics aren't the best thing you'll see on a PS, but are very good.
Sound 10/10
Since you play music, you obviously have to give this a 10. The music is really addictive, and you will play one stage repeatedly just to hear it, regardless of its difficulty. Some songs are rock n roll, some are hip hop, and some are just weird. The people who sing them must've practiced for days, judging on how good they sing!
Game play 8/10
For the most part this game is fun. You will go through eight stages. Lammy will use weird things like hoses and steering wheels as a guitar. To actually play the game, you will first see the people you play with sing their part. Now you have to repeat it. The top of the screen has the control buttons as notes. Press the corresponding button, and Lammy will play the exact tune.
There are also little rankings at the left of the screen. They're ranked Cool, Good, Bad, and Awful. The better you play, the better the rank. If you miss two notes or press wrong notes, you will go down in rank. During this time you will hear changes in the music. If you go below awful, the show is canceled, and the game is over. When you're cool, you can play any jam you want, so make it good. Remember, the music is lots of fun, so make sure to really listen to it, especially the first track, the sixth and the seventh!
But there is one downside. At first I thought my uncle had given me a glitchy copy of this game. After reading reviews, I'm noticed this is in every copy. In some tracks, you will have to play wrong notes if you want to even hope to have it right. So if the game tells you to press L, you will have to press R instead. This can lead to frustration and boring game play. If that error had been fixed, I would've boosted the score up to a 10.
Replay ability 10/10
When you beat the game you will have many options: you can play all the songs as Parrapa; you can challenge Parrapa; with two players, you can have Player one be Parrapa and Player 2 be Lammy; you can challenge Rammy; you can play Rammy with the computer as a team; or with two player co-operation, you can do the tracks as a team. As you can see, there are many options to do, so the game will take you a long time to get 100% completion on (if you don't have friends, don't count on getting 100%).
Closing
This game isn't sold anymore. So if you want it, look on the Internet. The game is also for people who love to push buttons and love to hear music, because fans of both won't be disappointed! The catchy music, very nice selection of controls, and simple game play can lead to a very exceptional game!
