"WARNING! Dance Dance Revolution SUCKS on Playstation!!!"

Many players who are familiar with Dance Dance Revolution in the arcades, like myself, are obsessed with this game and were VERY excited about owning it on Playstation. I came to consider DDR the most EXCITING video game of ALL TIME. 'Unfortunately, I feel very foolish for going ahead and buying the game, along with the control carpet for it. Although I can play the game fairly well with a regular PSX hand controller, I want to warn ANYONE who wants to buy this game for the control carpet. The control carpet for your feet is, in my honest and humble opinion, HORRIBLE!!

The control carpet does NOT respond nearly as well as the arcade feet pads. Instead of a solid metal platform to dance on, the PSX dance carpet is made of plastic and resembles a place mat for dining room tables, in ALL seriousness. When I try to step on the arrows, the game does NOT respond. The controls are very poorly done. I was warned that stomping on the pad will break it, but that seems very unlikely. The dance control carpet seems INDESTRUCTIBLE, unless I would try to cut it open with a knife.

To make matters WORSE even, trying to hold down the carpet in place does not solve the problem, because the padding is very loose. The padding moves around so much, that while you try to play a hard song like Boom Boom Dollar in maniac mode, which requires you to jump around a LOT, I wound up stepping on the up arrow when trying to reach for the down arrow! The dance carpet is so slippery that you're more likely to trip and even fall down than break it by stomping carelessly.

This is my humble opinion, and maybe the carpet just takes a bit of time to get used to, but it is a LOT harder to use than the STABLE foot pad in the arcade. I might be just a clutz, and I don't know what the other reviewers think, but my mom watched me play and said I was stepping on the arrows at the right times and I got no response. 'Even when I try to test the pad by stepping on the down arrow, for example, in the EXACT same place at the start-up screen, I usually have to step on the button twice before it responds.

I LOVED this game but I am very angry with Sony for doing such a POOR JOB in making this carpet. It is a sick joke and as far as I can tell, a WASTE of $100!!!!!! -Raiden
