"Quite a fun ship game me hearties"
This game is quite fun if you are stuck for stuff to do. It has good graphics for a game that is mostly set in 2D, it has a lovely catchy soundtrack, and it is long enough, with a lot of replayablity and it has a fun multiplayer mode.
In Overboard, sometimes called Shipwreckers! You play as a pirate ship. You have to go all about the seven seas (Anyone got names for them?) and capture every single port that there is to capture. This is easier said than done, because there are a whole lot of enemy ships that are after your blood, or rum, in this game. They will do everything that they possibly can to bring down your ship.
Graphically, this game is superb for something that is done completely in 2D, or 2 dimensions, meaning that it has no depth to it. Yet, they managed to overcome this, and make it something of a Grand Theft Auto looking game. This is quite cool, and adds a difficulty to the game that does not change, as sometimes you cannot see objects until it is too late.
The music in this game is very catchy. There is a fun pirate track throughout the game that is impossible to get out of your head when it goes into it. But, as DDP would say, that's not a bad thing, that's a good thing. The music is very fun, and it is not so repetitive as to be annoying, it is just the right length before it repeats itself, so people are not getting annoyed at it repeating itself.
The game play is very good, and the controls are easy to master. O to shoot, square to speed up and the directions to move about. It is so easy, anyone can learn how to use the controls quite quickly.
This game has an extremely fun, extremely addictive two player mode. The aim of that is to blow your opponent to Davy Jones' Locker. You can do this using the environment (in both modes, Single and Multiplayer, there are saw buoys littered about) and your vast arsenal of weapons. This is presented in a fun way, and it does not get boring quickly.
This is a game that I recommend that you should get if you find it. It is quite hard to find nowadays, but with the right amount of searching, you should be able to find it.
