OK, like I had promised, the Shining Wisdom FAQ is here, with descriptions
of most itmes and areas. If there is an item or area with ??, that means
Jason and I have not yet found it. It does not supply a complete list of
what everything does with everything else, nor does it tell you where to
find each item. It does provide guidance in some of the hard areas, etc.
If there is something you would like to see added, or there is something
you can add, e-mail me, and I'll do what I can. Enjoy!

First of all, we would like to thank Working Designs and Victor
Ireland for giving us a chance to preview Shining Wisdom. Secondly and
more importantly, we would like to thank Victor for help, hints, nudges,
probes and patience.
This FAQ does not provide a complete walk-through of the game,
rather it provides help and guidance in the harder areas. The help comes
in three forms, a little hint, a big hint, and a complete explanation of
what exactly to do. It provides a description of items and areas, as well
as where to find some of these items and areas. It does not provide a
location for each life meter cell or life stock cell. This FAQ also
assumes you have _played_ the game.

  Story
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shining Wisdom centers around Mars (or whatever you decided to
name the character) and his quest to save the princess and the Kingdom of
Odegan. To do this, Mars must traverse the overworld of Odegan and find
the orbs of Earth, Fire, Water and Wind. Along the way he will encounter
friends of the kingdom such (as the hobbits), but the evil minions of the
dark elf Pazort are far more plentiful.

  Game Tips
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
To actually defeat the game, you need not find _every_ item, although
Working Designs' contest to obtain the most items in the shortest amount
of time is encouragement. Most people will likely finish with 60-80% of
the items found the first time. Discovery, exploration and experimentation
are all important factors to be able to defeat the game.

  Some things to remember:

(1) Try anything and everything -- there are a great deal of things to do
and try. If you're stuck, there is a good chance a person or book has the
answer.

(2) Re-explore areas you have visited after acquiring a few new items,
you will likely find some more treasure.

(3) Talk to people after accomplishing a part of your quest (i.e finish a
cave or labyrinth) -- you will likely get some info, and/or an item.
Also it can be helpful (and sometimes amusing) to talk to people with some
new items equiped.

(4) Remember how hidden areas (shops, people) were done in Zelda? It's
quite similar here, but with much more cool stuff. There are only a few
hidden shops, but plenty of hidden items.

(5) Remember things that seems out of place or look like they are hiding
something...they likely lead to hidden items (see #2)

** SPOILERS ** SPOILERS ** SPOILERS ** SPOILERS ** SPOILERS ** SPOILERS **
**************************************************************************

 1. Where/how do I get the mole claw?

The mole claw is in the treasure cheast that is surrounded by walls
with sand. You need to go one level above and fall through the floor
in the same location to land inside.
-------
 2. In the Sand Labyrinth, where the $#%*! is the goddess statue?

Go left after entering the labyrinth and use the mole claw to dig
under the wall (remember this part, it helps later in the game many
times!) and hit the switch from afar after you re-emerge. Then,
look in the north central room in the labyrinth (all sand, well
stone now) and voila! Pick up the statue and carry ato the bottom
of the labyrinth.
-------
 3. How do I get past the lily pads of sudden discomfort?

Use spark magic plus the magic hand.
-------
 4. I get to a point in the Jump Labyrinth where I am surrounded by
water, what do I do?

Equip the stone boots and the freeze orb, wade out into the shallow
water, cahrge it, and let loose. This freezing helps later in the game
too.
-------
 5. I'm stuck in the Jump Labyrinth and I need a key, where is it?

Assuming you have found all the patches of sand to dig in, there is one
good one. It is the second from the top. Dig around, and you should find
what you need.

 6. What do I do with those silly blue rings in the Labyrinths?

Use the spark orb + magic glove, then charge it up and let loose.
The bolt needs to be aligned reasonably well for the rings, but not
for the lily pads of sudden discomfort.
-------
 7. How do you defeat the fire labyrinth boss?

Freeze the boss' fireballs, pick them up (with the gloves for heavy
objects) and hurl them at him before they thaw. One of the trickier
bosses in the game, btw.
-------
 8. Where are the hobbits?

Freeze the lake, use the mirror of wonder, and poof!
-------
 9. What do I do in the mirror labyrinth? I have gotten to some closed
    doors, and am stuck.

Look for a room just to the right of first entering the Mirror
Labyrinth. The floor will be like a Mirror, showing your charcter's
reflection. Use the Wonder Mirror here to bring youself to the
'mirrored side' of the Labyrinth.
-------
10. Where is the Toydona car?

It's under the bush near Odegan (just south of the entrance). You
need to blow the leaves away (have the blast orb equiped).
-------
11. I've got Toydona, but where is the track at?

It's under the bush near Odegan (just south of the entrance). You
need to blow the leaves away (have the blast orb equiped).
-------
12. What are some good ways to defeat Pazort?

 * An easy way is to equip the Shining Sword with the Power Orb. Then
charge up to 5 speed and hold the button (you need semi-transmision for
this to work). Then run around avoiding Pazort until he stops. Run in
land a few jabs, then run away. Since you're faster then him, he is
pretty easy to hit, and you can land about 3 hits (with more punch
thanks to the Orb) before he shields himself. YMMV.

 * Use the Shining Sword and Wind Orb. This combo projects holograms of
yourself that will attack, around 2 or three times if your aim is good.
While not as strong, this method allows you to stay away from Pazort
and avoid multiple hits on you, if you are good. If your dodging is
really skilled, you will likely not get touched.

To find many secret items:
Burn down the large green trees, blow over the large light green bushes,
smash holes in cliff walls that are cracked, and slide south into cliffs
as there are many hidden areas. Wherever you see a tree, cliff, etc. it
CAN be reached.

Good Luck!
