Virtua Cop 2
Review by Mahorando
"A Good Time Passer"
The basics of this game are quite simple. There are three levels that you can play, each one with its own difficulty. If you go from the easiest to hardest in order, you also get to fight an extra boss.
You object of this game is to take out all the minions of the crime bringers, and then to take out the boss of each level. It's pretty simple. You only need two buttons, shoot; and reload, and then the D-Pad to play this game.
One thing I don't like about this game is the fact that all you do is move your crosshairs and shoot. You don't sneak around and find people to shoot or anything, it does that for you. But, seeing as it was an arcade game, I can see the whole reason for that. I guess it was pretty cool for its time, but with the features were have in shooting games now, this part is really a downer.
Another downer of the game is how easy it is after you play it a couple times. If you actually lose the first few times, you eventually know where to expect the guys to pop up from, since it never changes. Same thing goes for the bosses, you learn their strategy and the best way to defeat them, with ease.
A cool feature of this game is the co-op mode. I've always been a fan of co-ops in shooting games, and this is no different. Of course, you two can just guard each half of the screen and you'll be set, so it's sort of easy, if not EASIER; than one player mode.
Graphics: 7- For a game of its time, the graphics are pretty decent. I like being able to shoot computer in the last level for more points, it's cool and realistic. I don't like how all my enemies look the same, it's kinda boring.
Sound: 10- I hate judging sound, 'cause I never know how to judge it. You can hear gunshots, you can hear them scream, so I'll just give it a ten.
Fun Factor: 7- This game is pretty fun when you FIRST play it, but isn't really fun after you play it again.
Controls: 3- Two buttons and the D-Pad is all you need for this game. They are simple, but I would like more to it. They can use grenades and knives on me, why can't I have some grenades(a grenade button with it) and a knife(with a knife button!)
Re-Playability- 5- Once you beat it, there's really no point in playing it again. I play it every once in a while when I'm bored, but only when none of my PS2 games, Dreamcast games, Saturn games, or N64 games satisfy me. Not much of a reason to replay it, to be honest.
Overall, this game is really meant for the arcade, not the home. It's one of those games, when you beat it, it's worthless. It is a classic though, if you're a colllector, then I suggest getting it.
