Mega Man 8 Anniversary Collector's Edition

Review by alf717

"It's the blue bomber but better then ever."

Well I just got finished playing Megaman 8 and I must say compared to the Playstation version the Saturn's version is much much better. I've been a Megaman fan since I played Megaman 3 back on the NES so i'm giving this game a good, but not perfect, score. Thing is the way I see it is Megaman is Megaman. I like the fact that it's still the same but sometimes the same kind of gets old. I mean I love playing Megaman games but perhaps Megaman could get some newer feature or like a hard mode to add more reply value. But oh well. As long as there are Megaman games i'll be happy. :)

Graphics:
Compared to the Playstation you can see a major difference in the graphics. The PS version kind of gives the game a semi blurry/less colorful look while the Saturn has a nice crisp clean look while playing the game.I noticed this when I set up the Saturn and the PS at the same time. I have one of those boxes that lets you press a button for whatever system you want to use so I set up Megaman 8 on my PS and Saturn and then compared them to each other. Also the movie quality is smoother on the PS version while the Saturn's version is at a somewhat lower quality.

Music and Sounds:
In my opinion I thought the Saturn version had better music. If you've played the PS version and Saturn version you can tell. Tenguman's stage has a great song on the Saturn version then on the PS version. When it came to the voices and sounds the PS version kind of has the upper hand but they were just as good on the Saturn version. Like when you hear Wily in the first stage it sounded louder/scratchier then on the Saturn version. Sounds are nice on the Saturn version though.

Controls:
Well if you've played the PS version before the Saturn version like me. Then you might want to get used to the controls. There were a few time I end up falling into a hole cause I kept trying to use the Saturn controller as if it had the layout of the Playstation controllers :p

Value:
Well it's kind of late to write a review for a game that was made about 5-6 years ago but if you can find a Saturn and copy of Megaman 8 for it, I would say it's a good buy for a Megaman fan. I recently purchased the game and console and I must say i'm not disappointed with my purchase. Also Cutman and Woodman have been added to the Saturn version while the Playstation version didn't have them in the game.
