"This has to be the worse RPG on the Saturn"
First of all, this is my VERY first review on gamefaqs!
To tell you the truth, I do not even know where to start. I used to own this game, I remember reading a preview for it in some magazine and it boasted something about an RPG combining the action, adventure, fighting genres and such. It is a sequel of some old genesis game named Landstalker. I never played the first game, but I figured that since there was a sequel, then this series might have some merit behind it. So lets break it down.
Story: The story is bizarre to say the least. From what I can remember, it is about some bounty hunter that saw this blob in his ship and well he goes on this big adventure, I stopped caring about the story afterwards. Wait he did have a parrot on his shoulder! haha
Sound/Music: One thing I must say immediately. The music royally sucks. I have never ever heard such terrible music for an RPG, or for a game for that matter! To make matters worse there were multiple bad tracks. A
Graphics: The graphics are a mixed bag. In all fairness, the game does present a colorful (yet poor choice of colors) pseudo 3d perspective. To tell you the truth I was not bothered by it until I died because of the camera angles. The game took advantage of its crappy graphics engine to make it more challenging!!!!! That's a rough thing to do. The back cover of the game is VERY nice though. They took the time to get screenshots from the cgi cutscenese (something sony has mastered in doing) and if there were gameplay pics, they were taken with a great camera to at least give a hi-rez look.
Gameplay: There is something that is also bad about this game, the fighting engine. It's a one button button mashing extravaganza! Man, I hate this game more than ever. Apparently the game has multiple endings based on the time and paths you take to beat the game. I believe my brother and I got through the first 3 or 4 endings and then quit.
Final Say: Ultimately this game fell FAR short of my expectations. I love my Saturn, but there are so many games that are so weak. I cant blame this game on poor programming, it's just an ill-conceived idea. They tried putting too much into a game and forgot the most important thing --- FUN FACTOR!
