P.T.O. II: Pacific Theater of Operations
Review by J Dawg007
"A strategy/war game with a lot of cool stuff."
PTO 2 is a game based on war and strategy. It is set in the World War 2 era. You play the role of the Naval Commander of either the US or Japanese. There are short scenarios and long campaigns. In the long campaigns, you can do some cool stuff like build a custom ship and name it after you or something you like. There are a variety of ship types. Now, this isn't only naval, there are air forces and armies too. You don't have total control over them, but sometimes you can schedule Air Strikes and such. You can also sign peace treaties and War pacts and so many other cool things it would take me a week to describe it all.
Gameplay-(8) There are FMV's of things that happened in the war, narrations of what's goin on before you start a campaign or scenario, FMV's of attacks, bombings etc. The game is realistic too. Bad weather can screw up your bombers and make them miss. Ships can catch fire and have damage to a variety of parts. There are also many real people that were leaders in the war. Your guys get experience as they fight and the more experience, the more aware when scouting, more accurate when fighting, faster repairs etc. In the campaigns, it can be hard at times when you are trying to take over a big enemy base like Tokyo. The enemy AI is good and will attack bases that are defenseless, attack fleets with few ships etc. There is even a 2 player mode to square off against your friend. Hitler even makes an appearance.
Story-(9) All the scenarios and campaigns are all true to life events that actually happened in the war. You just get to change them around.
Replay Value-(9) The campaigns will keep you occupied for a real long time. Even after you beat everything, there is still the 2 player mode.
BUY!! This game is pretty cheap at Funcoland and is one of the best Saturn games out there. I highly reccomnd this game to everyone. Be like Lycos and Go get it!
