"This is truly a great racer, until you play SR2 and R4"

This game, when it was first released, was in my opinion, the pinacle of racing games. It had great control, good graphics, and some decent sound(my favorite being the "finnnnnnnnnnnishishishish" song). This game had it all...back in 1995. In the past 4 years the standards of racing titles have been moved up a few notches because of 1 game, that being Gran Turismo. While I don't necesarily like this game, i have to respect it for what it has done to the genre of racing games. Without GT, SR2 and R4 would probably be much weaker titles then they are today. But enough with that, on with the SR review.

Graphics-8/10
The graphics in this game are excellent for the saturn, some of the best in a saturn racer. They may not be awe-inspiring, but they are definatly well done and run rather smoothly

The control, before i bought SR2, was supurb. I seemed to have the game under control. But now that I've p.ayed sega rall 2, i can't stand the conrols in SR, it is just horrible. So if you've yet to play SR2, you'll love this conrolling.

Sound 10/10
This is my favorite part of the game, only because of the finish song they sing after you finish a race.

Gameplay 8/10
The gameplay is good. There is Arcade mode, and Saturn mode, so you get a little variety, there are 3 tracks, with 1 secret one. And there are 2 different cars with a couple secret ones. Overall some pretty good gameplay.

While this game didn't stand the test of time because of the amazing improvement in racers today, it is still a great game, and definatly worth a purchase or rental, but with the current state of saturn games, it may be cheaper to buy it.
