Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Review by Tenshi No Shi
"Nothing like tag-team battles with comic book characters and World Warriors!"
As much as X-Men vs. Street Fighter impressed me, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter blew me away. If you haven't noticed by now, I am a hardcore Capcom fan. They are my favorite company and I pick up every title by Capcom that I can. As much as I am used to Capcom's usual level of excellence, this game really took me by surprise.
MSH vs SF has the exact same story as XM vs SF. Apocalypse has opened a rift into the world of Street Fighter and pulled the fighters into the Marvel universe. Heroes fight side by side in order to prevent him from ruling both worlds.
The graphics in MSH vs SF is at the usual Capcom level of excellence. You gotta love Capcom's attention to animation and detail in all their games. This game is their best piece of art yet for a home system, bringing home a perfect translation yet again.
The music and sound effects in MSH vs SF are the usual array of Street Fighter stylings. Capcom knows not to mess with what they've got, adding only minor improvements where needed. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Control is one of the reasons the Capcom fighting games are so damn good, and MSH vs SF has the best controls yet. Capcom really tightened things up to provide a fun-filled fight-fest in there latest (and possibly last) Saturn title.
What can you say about the design of a Capcom game except that Capcom has some of the best artist in the industry. They really know how to create a unique, anime style that translates well into a game.
Capcom added a survival mode this time around, as well as a small army of hidden characters. The survival mode is a true test of skills and when you do conquer it, another hidden mode will be playable...
I would recommend almost any Capcom game to anyone, but this one is one of the best. Import it now before you can't get it anymore (Marvel is having legal issues with importing the game here). The bad news, this is one of the last games (if not the last) from Capcom to come out for Saturn. The good news? Marvel vs Capcom is coming on the Dreamcast...
