"Fun to Play"

Blazing Dragons is one of those lesser known games that look cartoonish and fun, because they ARE cartoonish and fun. You won't get a pleasant surprise from this one.

You play a young dragon named Flicker, who is, how do you say.... an outcast. A reject. A dork, a creep, a geek, a freak, a loser. *gasps* Sorry. But, oddly enough, he is the sweetheart of the lovely (to dragons, I suppose) Princess Flame. Everything is fine in their little dragon kingdom, until one day big daddy dragon announces a dragon competition (a jousting tournament as such). So all the dragon knights decide to enter, because the prize is Princess Flame (sexist pigs!). Poor Flicker cannot enter, though, unless he becomes a knight, and this is one of the main focuses of the game.

The other focus is, as the plot unwinds, to stop the evil humans (ah! Human... evil! Fire... bad!) from taking over Camelhot (yes, yes, I know, don't say it). Of course, Flicker being the big loser of the court, no one listen to anything he says. To get any aid, he has to kiss butt big time. Oh, yeah. From helping an overweight dragon from a rather Greek position (falling in love with his reflection), to telling a cowardly dragon he is a brave knight. And doing his laundry (ew!). But poor Flicker will do anything for his lovely Flame.

The game itself is pretty simple, and the enemies aren't rabid penguins trying to beat you with sticks. ^.^ You simply go around, inventing things to solve your problems. This requires at least a tiny imagination and a good deal of patience, as the items needed get harder and harder to find as the game goes on. But I did get a pleasant feeling after accomplishing what I deemed an impossible task (good girl, good girl! Now, sit, rollover, beg!). The inventions themselves only prove helpful once in the game, so your satisfaction may soon turn to resentment. And banging your head on the floor, in my case.

The graphics are, as I said, like a cartoon. It's very cutesy, unless you like rippling muscles, spandex, and busty girls. If so, go get another game.

Plus, the humor in the game is good. I really thought some of the (corny) jokes were kind of funny.

To sum up: The gameplay gets a little tiresome, humor is good, the graphics are cutesy, and the plot is kind of tired.
