"The original Ourtun in all its glory, plus some."
Outrun is one of Sega's older flagship titles from the 1980's right your Saturn near arcade perfect. Yes, Working Designs did bring out this title among two other onto the only Sega Ages here in America. This review is based on the one shot from Japan.
Graphics (7/10): No, it's not GT2, GT, Ridge Racer or even Virtua Racing. Just the original Outrun with its flat sprites coming at you from every direction. This is the style Sega molded Sega Rally from actually, something I actually miss. Some sprites seemed bigger than on our 3-1 version! Which reflected the arcade more. Signs look bigger, the rows of flowers and corn stalks as well. You still do not see the driver and girlfriend walk back INTO the car like the arcade version does.
Gameplay (8/10): Hey, 5 different endings. Over 12 different areas to drive around. Unfortunatley, Sega never brought out any kind of ''vibration pack'' on the Saturn (I would have termed it the 'Sega Shocker') so you don't feel anything through the controller nor the Mad Catz wheel which works great for this game! Unlock the extra option and you can select the easy cornering of the arcade oringal cornering!
Music (9/10): Okay, I sought out this game because Vic made it out that they had to pick only certain arrangement from all three of different games that all sold indiviually overseas and he made it sound like they a large selection of music to choose. I was wrong or he mislead us/me. Outrun has the all the original music and arragments of each of them, but only one.
Fun!/Replay value (10/10): I don't know why, but I could be left stranded on an island with this game alone and be very content. Stolar never really helped support the better system that could have been.
