Saturn
Review by German ninja
"Who could hate the Saturn?"
I remember when I first got a Saturn. I was 8 years old. I wanted a Nintendo 64, and was mad when my parents got me a Saturn instead, just because it was ''cheaper''. Seven years later, I love my parents for their decision. I have had so much fun and so many good times, from renting Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Virtua Cop 2 on weekends, to my special Spring Break with Nights, a big screen, and my basement. And remember when you unlocked of all the characters in Fighters Megamix?
Graphics:10/10
The graphics were very good for their time. The 3-D wasn't the best ever, and a bit blocky, but we didn't care. The 2-D was superb. Just play Shinobi: Legions or Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Sound: 10/10
The games on this system contain some of the best soundtracks my ears have ever been graced with. From the dreamy music of Nights, to the fast-paced rock music from Fighting Vipers, to even the Spice Girls-ish tunes of Sonic R, these tunes will be stuck in your head for days. And you'll love every minute of them.
Library: 10/10
This systems library is one of the best ever. Fans of every genre will love it. RPG fans have Shining Force 3, Dragon Force, and Myst. Fighting game fans will love Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha series, X-men vs. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat series, and my personal favorite, Fighters Megamix. Like 1st person shooters? You'll love Quake, Duke Nukem, and the ever under-rated, yet highly worshipped, Doom. If you like racing games, play Daytona, Sega Rally Championship, and Cyber Speedway. Looking for something new that doesn't quite belong in one particular genre, or craving Sega's latest game? Sonic Jam, Virtua Cop, Panzer Dragoon, and the system's best game (in my personal opinion) Nights: into dreams... If you're just craving a Japanese game, get the Dragon Ball Z games. Seriously, they are pretty good.
Buy/rent: It's hard enough finding a place that rents out Saturn games, much less someplace rents the system itself. If you can find this system anywhere, buy it: chances are, you'll get it real cheap, and if you don't like it, ebay that thing for more money than you originally paid.
Final word: A great system. I can remember some of the best times of my life with this black box. It's a shame that it failed so miserably in the U.S. You can find this system pretty cheap, and if you hate it, it can get you more money than paid. You still reading this? Get the damn system. Now!
