Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Super S: Various Emotion

Review by kiwikevin

"Sailor Scouts on the Saturn!"

As with all cartoon spin off games, the target audience are fans of the cartoon. Makes sense. This is no exception. Sailor Moon SuperS: Various Emotions is a 2-D fighting game using 3-D characters, for the Sega Saturn. The game mechanics are seriously flawed, and the graphics are below average, but if your a fan of Sailor Moon, then this game is right up your alley!!!

Graphics
The Graphics aren't anything special. The backgrounds are colorful, but bland and not very detailed. The characters and bright, but again not very detailed, and they don't animate smooth or naturally. And all of the scouts walk like they have a broken leg. The characters are 3-D, but the game is 2-D, as are the backgrounds. I think with the power of the Saturn, the characters would of looked much much better as actual animated cartoon sprites. But if your a Sailor Moon fan, its so much fun to see 3D versions of the scouts and see them perform all of their signature moves.

Sound
The sound is decent. All of the scouts have cute voices and talk to each other before a fight. The background music is cute and cheerful and fits with the television show.

Gameplay
The gameplay isn't that great. Its clunky, and the girls move awkwardly. The computer AI is cheap and the special moves are a little hard to pull off. And because of this, the game is a little hard to beat. And nothing special even occurs when you beat the game either.

A game purely made for Sailor Moon fans. Its cute, girly and fun if your a fan of the show. Other than that, you wouldn't want to play this game. Its strange, I would probably give this game a 2 if I weren't a fan, and only a two because of girls in mini skirts. But because I LOVE Sailor Moon, I would give it a 10! But Im fair, so I think a 7 is best. If you own a Saturn and love Sailor Moon, then you definitely need to own this rare game!
