This is my first FAQ/Walkthrough.
I am finished with it, but I still will update it if someone sends me
information that they think they want to add. You can e-mail me at
malik8585@yahoo.com.

NOTE: I'm setting coordinates from now on to easily find the position of
items. Press B to get the cursor, go to the very bottom right of the
screen. That'll be (0,0). Move the cursor UP one space. That'll
be (0,1). NOW move it one space left. That's (1,1).
This went into effect in Book 3, Battle 2.

Table of Contents

Before a section's title, you'll see a small piece of code.
Use "FIND" in your browser and enter in the code to instantly jump to the
respective section.

*note* If you type the code and end up in the Table of Contents section,
press FIND NEXT again and you'll arrive at the desired section.

*note* Enter in the two (or three) letters AND the amperstamp
(the "&"). e.g. Don't type "up", type "&up" to get to the Updates.

Some sections don't have codes because I haven't made them yet.

          ------LAYOUT------
This is how each character bio will look like:

CHARACTER'S NAME (gender - M male, F female, N neutral)
  Class: Before promotion/after promotion
Obtained: When you get this char
Quote: What they say when you use "Talk" in Camp
2nd Quote: What they say in BOOK 3
Level: The level that this character starts at
Bio: A short bio about the character and a wee bit on stats.

BOOK 1
------

NICK (or whatever name you put for the hero) (M)
  Class: SDMN/HERO
  Obtained: Beginning
  Quote: "Ah........"
  2nd Quote: "........"
  Level: 1
  GRADING: will do soon
Bio: Nick/Hero is a mysterious person that is not from Gardiana. He is
similar to Max from SF1 and is the leader for this adventure. Once
promoted, Nick becomes one of the toughest members to be defeated
because of his very good DEF gains.

RUCE (M)
  Class: WARR/GLDT
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "I'm RUCE! A strong and loyal warrior. I won't let you down."
2nd Quote: "I may be a little slow, but I make up for my lack of speed
              with my great strength."
  Level: 1
Bio: What can I say? He's an axeman. Very good attack and defense.

SHADE (M)
  Class: ACHR/SNIP
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "With my father's blessing, I offer my skill as an archer."
2nd Quote: "I'm so happy to be a member of the Shining Force."
  Level: 1
Bio: Hans' son. An OK Archer with horrendous defense....

SIG (M)
  Class: MNK/MMNK
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "Gong taught me that there is a time to fight, and a time for peace."
2nd Quote: "I'll be invaluable during battles."
  Level: 1
Bio: Gong's nephew. He heals, so that's good. He should be your healer for
a while; Cray has very low MP and Mayfair starts at a low level.

WENDY (F)
  Class: MAGE/WIZ
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "I'll blow them away with my Blaze spell!"
2nd Quote: "Hey! I'm not a tomboy! I just want to do my best
as a member of the Shining Force."
  Level: 1
Bio: She's the first mage you'll get, and a pretty good one too.

APIS (M)
  Class: KNTE/PLDN
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "My father gave me his spears."
2nd Quote: "Has anyone ever thought that the reason Queen Anri is
always in trouble is that she is unlucky?"
  Level: 1
Bio: Ken's son. Ken refuses that he goes out to adventure, but Apis must.
He's one of the top fighters in the first chapter.

CRAY (M)
  Class: MNK/MMNK
Obtained: He joins automatically after Battle 2
Quote: "Let me come with you, and we'll restore peace to our land!"
2nd Quote: "I was hoping to find my wife while on this trek, but..."
  Level: 2
Bio: Another healer for your team. Hurray. He's a pretty good fighter
for a healer; much better than Sig and some others in your party.
However, for a magic user, his MP, to be blunt, sucks.

CLAUDE (M)
  Class: BDMN/BDBT
Obtained: He joins automatically after Battle 5
Quote: "I'm the best swordsman in Gardiana!"
2nd Quote: "I'm so excited to be a part of the Shining Force! I'll do
              my best!"
  Level: 6
Bio: Well, you finally got a flyer. He's a member of the Cypress Resistance
and lets the Force take his boat to Asreet Island, the location of the
Resistance base. Claude is OK when you first get him, but he KICKS ASS
once he's been promoted. For the first four levels that he gained
when promoted, his attack gains were 2, 3, 3, 3. DEF was good, too.
He's been my strongest fighter and should be yours too (although
he DOES have a Critical Sword and a couple powerful wines in him right
       now..)

STOCK (M)
  Class: RNGR/BWNT
Obtained: He joins automatically after Battle 7
Quote: "I must avenge my friends!"
2nd Quote: "MAYFAIR is impertinent? Oh, don't get me wrong. She's kind
              and cute, I know."
  Level: 4!!
Bio: Stock's family had been killed by Woldol's men, and he lives with
the blind priest, Mayfair. He's a Centaur Archer.

MAYFAIR (F)
  Class: PRST/VICR
Obtained: She joins automatically after Battle 7
Quote: "Let me go with you... please!"
  2nd Quote: None
  Level: 5!!
Bio: The daughter of the Archbishop of Cypress before Woldol took over.
Her father was killed and Woldol seeks to kill her as well. Even
though she's blind, she uses magic and can heal. She starts at
a low level, but try to get her up to speed ASAP. Time is well spent.

YEESHA (F)
  Class: MAGE/WIZ
Obtained: After you defeat Bazoo (Battle 10)
Quote: "You'll need a magic user. I'm coming with you."
2nd Quote: "Not again! RUCE! If you continue to tease me I'll turn you
              into a toad!"
  Level: 10
Bio: She's been sealed in a spell by Bazoo. By defeating Bazoo in Battle 10,
she was released, and is in debt to Nick for saving her life. She
reveals Nick's true identity as Prince of Cypress. She is a much better
mage than Wendy (in my own opinion, of course).

GYAN (M)
  Class: BST/BZKR
  Obtained: After Battle 11
Quote: "I've devoted my life to my prince and Cypress."
  2nd Quote: none
  Level: 10
Bio: He's a loyal servant to the true King of Cypress, Nick. When he learns
that Nick is being mistrusted, he saves the day by telling everyone
Nick was trying to save Gardiana.

DOMINGO (N)
  Class: ??/MCRT
Obtained: During Battle 12 (see walkthrough/secrets section)
Quote: "A wizard appears wherever he is needed. And so... here I am!"
  2nd Quote: none
  Level: ^3
Bio: A floatin squid-like creature that joins you when you free him from a...
bush. Domingo is a great magician albeit his low defense. Keep him on
your team just like I do and will till the bitter end.

KASHING (M)
  Class: KNTE/PLDN
  Obtained: After Battle 13
Quote: "I know I can help you out."
2nd Quote: "I don't know what GATES said, but my nose is red because of
              my allergies.... it's true!"
  Level: 11!
Bio: Kashing is one of the sole survivors from Gardiana fighting against
Cypress. After becoming unconscious, he comes to and wants to help
the Force to rescue the Gardianan prisoners in Cypress, have revenge
for fallen comrades, and defeat the Cypress empire.

GATES (M)
  Class: -/GLDT
  Obtained: After Battle 14
Quote: "Like my moustache? The women love it!"
2nd Quote: "Hey KASHING! Why don't you come over here and arm wrestle
              with me? What? You're afraid?"
  Level: ^3
Bio: Gates is another Gardianan fighting against Cypress. He informs
Lowe and the Shining crew that a Gardianan will be killed every
time Nick and his team kill Cypressian forces. He's got a good
quote, but I never used him on the battlefield.

SHRIEK (M)
  Class: -/BDBT
Obtained: After Battle 16 (End of Chapter 3)
Quote: "They almost killed me. I'd love to return the favor."
  2nd Quote: "Yoo-ho! Yoo-ho! Oh, I can't stop it! Somebody stop me!"
  Level: ^7
Bio: He's Gardianan, but the only reason he survived was because of Dantom.
He raises the Force's hopes by telling them that LUG could still be
alive!! He's a flyer, yaaaaaaay, with a pretty good starting attack.
Goodbye, Stock, hello, Shriek. (You don't have to kick out Stock for
Shriek, just sayin' what I did)

RANDALF (M)
  Class: -/PLDN
  Obtained: After Battle 17
  Quote: "Justice must be done!"
2nd Quote: "Everyone says I'm too serious. What do you think?"
  Level: ^6
Bio: He's the sole survivor of his platoon. He's aged and has been plagued
by war scars (just look at the one gashed on his right eye), but
he's a hell of a fighter. Goodbye, Shriek, hello, Randalf!

AMIGO (F)
  Class: ??/MCRT
  Obtained: During Battle 19
Quote: "To achieve real peace, we must..."
  2nd Quote: none
  Level: ^5
Bio: When you find her in Battle 19, she's glad that she's found a friend
and decides to stick around. I didn't use her that much, so her spell
list will not be completed for a while.

BOOK 2
------

DEANNA (M)
  Class: SDMN/HERO
  Obtained: Beginning
  Quote: "........"
  2nd Quote: "........"
  Level: 1
Bio: Natasha and Dawn found him unconscious at the foot of a cliff.
That's all I can tell you right now.

NATASHA (F)
  Class: MAGE/WIZ
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "When we work together as a team, I believe we can do anything."
2nd Quote: "I'll never forgive anything or anyone that interups NICK's
              crowning ceremony."
[SEGA people suck at spelling, leave them alone]
  Level: 1
Bio: She's a born leader (she even as egress) and is the only person
that Deanna is comfortable talking to.

JAHA (M)
  Class: WARR/GLDT
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "Look at my heavy armor! Have you seen a stronger soldier than me?"
2nd Quote: "ERIC talks as if I'm his apprentice. But to tell the truth,
              I'm his mentor."
  Level: 1
Bio: A kid with a pot on his head.

ERIC (M)
  Class: KNTE/PLDN
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "My noble blood never allows me to lose! But...... I can't hold
          up my head before DAWN..."
2nd Quote: "My long hours of training are making me stronger!"
  Level: 1
Bio: A childish knight with a red nose. He gets bored by guard duty; he
just wants to have fun with his two friends, Luke and Jaha.

DAWN (F)
  Class: KNTE/PLDN
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "Yeah, I like the action on the front line."
2nd Quote: "ERIC is all talk, not like me!"
  Level: 1
Bio: She's a Knight. She doesn't like Eric, Luke, and Jaha's bad influence
on Deanna. She respects his seriousness when guarding the castle.

LUKE (M)
  Class: MNK/MMNK
  Obtained: Beginning
Quote: "Unlike JAHA and ERIC, I can use magic spells!"
2nd Quote: "I can help you much better than ERIC and JAHA could."
  Level: 1
Bio: Another kid who loves to have fun. He's a good monk.

SLADE (M)
  Class: PRST/VICR
  Obtained: After Battle 2
Quote: "I'm too old to stand at the front line. But, I'll be right behind
          you if you need me."
2nd Quote: "RUCE and I have much in common. I like him!"
  Level: 3
Bio: He's a weak l'il thing that planned to retrieve the Sword of Hajya
to save his people. The Force convince him that it's smarter to
join forces so they may defeat the Iom Empire together. He concurs.

GRAHAM (M)
  Class: RNGR/BWNT
Obtained: End of Chapter 1 (After Battle 5)
Quote: "I hate bullies and liars! I don't forgive them!"
  2nd Quote: "Dava...I think I've heard her name before...Mmmm..."
  Level: 6
Bio: He is the one who stole the Sword of Hajya. He thought he could do
it to save his people in the town of Thames, but he was very wrong.
He prevents the Iom Empire from retrieving the sword by shooting down
the deliverer of the sword, and wants to join Forces for the wrong
       he has done.

CHESTER (M)
  Class: ACHR/SNIP
  Obtained: Right before Battle 7
Quote: "I go at the risk of my life to re-build my beautiful country..."
2nd Quote: "What? Me, hot tempered? Never!"
  Level: 7
Bio: By realizing the Iom Empire killed his king, stole the Sword of Hajya,
and left his castle in ruins, Chester wants to help Deanna seek
       revenge.

MAY (F)
  Class: MAGE/WIZ
  Obtained: After Battle 7
Quote: "I'm pleased my magic is useful in our battles."
2nd Quote: "Is SLADE dangerous? Sarah advised me to be careful of him.
But he looks so gentle. I wonder what his problem is?"
  Level: 8
Bio: She joins for the same reasons as Chester. She leads the Force into
the tunnel to capture Gordon. She's a cat-woman. One of the best mages
primarily because she gets Freeze 3 very early as well as Bolt spells.

CLAUDE (M)
  Class: -/BDBT
Obtained: After Battle 11, with Deanna's side
Quote: "Hit-and-away! This is my way to fight!"
2nd Quote: "I'm so excited to be a part of the Shining Force! I'll do
              my best!"
  Level: ^2
Bio: The very same as in Book 1. He, Randalf, and Sarah we the three
fighters to escape from the Algam battle. Claude comes after
the whole boat problem in Portobello and seizes control to bring
the team to a nearby port. A very very strong fighter, just like
in the beggining. Keep him FOREVER.

SARAH (F)
  Class: -/VICR
  Obtained: Usable after Battle 16
Quote: "Healing? Oh, let me do it! It's my job!"
2nd Quote: "Healing is not my only job. Look at my attack magic spells!"
  Level: 5
Bio: Same story as Randalf and Claude. She becomes a mentor lady, like
Mayfair, when the group is split up. She becomes playable when the
       two sides regroup.

RANDALF (M)
  Class: -/PLDN
Obtained: After 10, but playable Battle 12
Quote: "I'd rather kill myself... than give up my pride."
2nd Quote: "Everyone says I'm too serious. What do you think?"
  Level: ^2
Bio: The very same Randalf. He comes to warn the Force there's a trap
set on the boat they're about to sail on, but it's too late. He
fights with half of the Force that didn't get caught on the runaway
ship and guides them to Algam to save Nick and rejoin with Deanna.
I always kept him in Book 1, and I plan to do the same in Book 2.

ROHDE (M)
  Class: -/GLDT
  Obtained: After Battle 13
Quote: "It's a secret, but... SLADE is spoken ill of by the girls."
2nd Quote: "Oh, you like my helmet. It's the best I've ever seen!"
  Level: ^3
Bio: He and his people helped built the Algam Fort (against their will,
of course) and the Iom Empire was about to destroy his village
since they knew the weakness to the fort. The Shining Force, however,
defeat the Iom troops surrounding their village and Rohde is
grateful. He shows you how to penetrate the Fort.

HIGINS (M)
  Class: -/SNB
Obtained: During Battle 18 (See Secrets Section)
Quote: "The battle field is the best place for me to show my skills!"
  2nd Quote: none
  Level: ^6
Bio: He's a secret character for a reason. Once you find him put him into
your force immediately. Not only is he a strong fighter, he comes
with very strong spells (not when you get him, but eventually).

GYAN (M)
  Class: -/BRSK
  Obtained: After Battle 19
Quote: "Mmm! Look at my great muscles! Look closer! Closer!!"
  2nd Quote: none
  Level: ^8
Bio: One of the few humorous quotes. He's the same Berserker from Book 1,
but this time around i never used him. Oh well. He insists that the
Force rests before saving Nick, because he knows a shortcut to
       cut off Hindel and Barbara.

RUSH (M)
  Class: -/SMRI
  Obtained: During Battle 21
Quote: "Samurai never afraid of the death."
  Level: ^9
Bio: He just decides to join you when you find him. He has a pretty good
attack and a good defense, and with a Running Pimento or Running
Ring, he's flawless. He has his own sword, the Samurai Sword, which
he comes equipped with. I put him on my Force immediately after I got
       him.

NICK (M)
  Class: -/PRNC
  Obtained: After Battle 23
  Quote: "........"
  2nd Quote: "........"
  Level ^12
Bio: He would've been sacrificed to Iom if it weren't for Hindel. When
the Force defeat Warderer, his magic is nullified and Nick's
hand returns to normal (it was stone, remember?). He joins your
group, being the only person able to equip the Sword of Hajya,
       the tool for Iom's fall.

2b. Non-Playable Characters (NPC) - &npc

I'm just gonna say who they are and their role in Shining Force CD.

QUEEN ANRI - Queen of Gardiana. She is rendered into a deep sleep by a
Cypressian trap and must be cured.

KEN - The same Knight from SF1, he's a royal knight at the Queen's side.
He stays at Gardiana with the Queen.

LOWE - Same healer from SF1, another royal knight of the Queen. He goes with
Nick and the Shining Force as a mentor.

WOLDOL - One of the head Cypress generals. He renders the Queen into a deep
         Sleep with a spell.

DANTOM - A wolfbeast and general for Cypress. He doesn't want to harm Nick,
but is forced to kill him in a touching battle scene.

FRABELL - A devilish looking paladin of Cypress. Her troops first fall to Nick
During the battle of the Fizzle Ball. She has a wicked grin and
wants every bit of glory to herself.

IOM - The evil spirit that Woldol worships. He is summoned by Warderer
in Book 2 and has a very freaky resemblence to an ugly mofo.

GEPPEL - A Green Knight. He's got glowing eyes, wow.

LUG - Ruce's Father. He retrieves the Sword of Hajya and you must use
him on your force for the final battle. He's not exactly a member
of the team, and he's not exactly an NPC because you can fight with
him. He's in the middle, so I just put him here.

WARDERER - The "Woldol" of SFCD Book 2. He's the top general leader
guy behind the summoning of Iom.

BARBARA - A follower of Warderer. Looks very much like Frabell, only green.

SOLO - A skinny old man with one eye. Before his death, he notices Deanna
and finds out who is the traitor to the Iom Empire.

GORDON - An odd fellow that deceives the eye. He poses and King Emild in
order to wipe out the Force.

HINDEL - A warrior who hides behind a large, dark, blue helmet. His origin
is mysterious and his younger brother had been killed by a lowly
swordsman. He acts strangely for an Iom warrior and is suspicious
to everyone, even his own kind.

3. The Walkthrough &wak
----------------------------------------

        ------LAYOUT------

This is how I will be lay outing my walkthrough.

_.*CHAPTER (#)*._ (The sub-chapter of the main "book" in SFCD)

I'll tell the background info before each battle (story etc.) Every now and
then something special happens (most likely a new addition to the group) and
I'll interrupt the story paragraph to write this:
EVENT: (Whatever happens... e.g. CRAY the MNK joins the Force)
And i'll go on with the story. then the battle scene comes:
         __________________________________
        |BATTLE #: BATTLE TITLE (self-made)|
         ----------------------------------
Battle Difficulty: Rated out of 10; how hard is this battle? 10 is
                        hardest, 1 is EASY
     Enemies: The Enemies in battle:
Enemy Name (times number of those enemies)
*Enemy Name* Denotes the BOSS of the battle - kill it and
                              battle's over
Treasures: The treasure chests/items received dropped from enemies
Sug. Level: The level range that all/most of your char's should be after
                 this battle

And then back to the story. Alrighty then! Let's get to the walkthrough.

        3a. GETTING STARTED - &stt
        --------------------------
When you first start the game, you appear in the Gardiana Library. Choose
a new game and which chapter you would like to start - Towards the Root of
Evil or The Evil god Awakes. I reccommend Towards the Root of Evil. Now,
select your Hero's name (simply choosing END creates the default name, NICK,
which I will be using and refering to in this (FAQ). Now, choose your
difficulty level - Easy, Normal, Hard, or Super Hard. Now the game begins.

BOOK 1 - TOWARDS THE ROOTS OF EVIL - &bk1
-----------------------------------------

_.*Prologue*._

You start off with Queen Anri (yes, from Shining Force I) with her guards,
Lowe (him too) and Ken (and him), in the Gardianian throneroom. A guard comes
and informs her that messangers from Cypress have arrived. These three
messangers can wait no longer, and one of them invokes Bolt 3 on the guards
of the kingdom and barge into the castle. Ken tries to protect the queen from
whatever they are trying to do. One man steps forward and calls his sidemen,
Dantom (wolf-like beast) and Frabell (devilish-looking woman), up with
him. Anri comes to prevent any havoc, and the third Cypressian introduces
himself - he is Woldol. He gives Anri a box, sent from Edmond the Reluctant,
king of Cypress, and when she opens it, she is engolfed in a black fog.
Woldol states that as long as they obey him, Anri will live. They vanish.
Gardiana now sends warriors to attack Edmund, but they are not heard from for
a month. Ken and Lowe are hopeless, until Ruce comes up, the son of Lug, and
decides to go out with his band of fighters - Shade (Hans' son), Sig
(Gong's nephew), Wendy, and Apis (Ken's son). Ruce finally introduces Nick
(the hero) to Ken, the group's non-Gardianan leader. Nick reminds Ken of Max.
This is the new Shining Force. Lowe sees that they are the last hope, and
tags along as a mentor. The crew begin their sail towards Cypress.

_.*CHAPTER 1*._

On the ship, Cypress troops invade, and you begin your first battle.

         _____________________________________
        |BATTLE 1: ONBOARD THE SHIP TO CYPRESS|
         -------------------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 1/10
     Enemies: Huge Bat (x6)
                 Incubus (x2)
                 *Dark Mage*
     Treasures: None.
     Sug Level: 2-3

This is just an intro to the battles of SF CD. You start with strong
equipment, but you'll lose it soon, so don't get caught up with your
glorious strength. Just watch out for the Bats' attacks, which may
induce sleep, and move straight toward the Dark Mage. Kill it, and your
journey continues. If you want, take advantage of your strong weapons
because in the next battle, you won't have anything to hit with.
Egress once or twice and try to get to a higher level so you're
     prepared.

          --End Battle 1--

After the battle, the Dark Mage self destructs and destroys half of your
ship's hull. Everyone jumps overboard and swims to a nearby island. ALL your
supplies (except money) AND weapons have been lost... too bad. The group
hears a girl beg to be released; she is captured by Cypress soldiers, and the
Force acknowledge their location; they are in Miniyom. Lowe decides to be a
hero and calls out that they should release her. She runs from the creatures,
trips, and gets to the Force. Lowe advises that everyone should get prepared
for a battle. They must uses rocks, stones, and whatnot to fight.

         ________________________
        |BATTLE 2: MINIYOM FIELDS|
         ------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 4/10
     Enemies: Goblin (x6)
                 Scavenger (x2)
                 *Dwarf*
     Treasures: Medical Herb (Surroundings) x2
                Wooden Sword (Ship)
                Wooden Arrow (Ship)
                Wooden Staff (Ship)
                Wooden Stick (Ship)
                Wooden Club (Ship)
     Sug. Level: 3-4

This can be a tad hard, considering your hitting is AWFUL. Go around
the ship you'll see that the search option appears - you can pick
up many items here so you don't have to fight bare-handed.
[thanks to Schilliger Heinrich <schilliger@swissonline.ch> for
     telling me about this]

But the goblins don't hurt that much and can be disposed of easily.
But one has a herb, so it may be annoying if you get a goblin to 1
or 2 hp and have to do it all over again. Nick and Apis should
be hitting high, so use that to your advantage. Wendy is your
powerhouse here, with Blaze, so save it for the Scavengers and Dwarf.
Watch out for the Dwarf's attacks. Kill him and the battle's over.

          --End Battle 2--

Nick and the rescued girl are confronted by a man. He gets excited that
Nick and his crew are from Gardiana, and sees that they are the Shining
Force. He tells him that Cypress invaded Miniyom and that he wants to join.
-->EVENT: CRAY the MNK joins the Force.
The rescued girl is Cray's sister, and tells Nick and crew to stay in the
village to rest. Hurray!! There's Equipment!! BUY EQUIPMENT!! Go all the way
to the right of the "village" to buy stuff. Go all the way to the left to
save, raise the dead, etc. When you've saved the game and done with your
errands, leave the village through the middle stop ("EXIT") Cray
tells you that you need a ship, and that you'll have to get through Miniyom
Bastion (occupied by Cypress, of course). A Knight from Cypress appears (and,
like the other enemies, is appalled that "children" defeated the goblins and
are trying to rebel against Cypress). Battle 3 commences.

         ____________________________
        |BATTLE 3: THE CYPRESS KNIGHT|
         ----------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 2/10
     Enemies: Goblin (x2)
                 Dwarf (x2)
                 Scavenger (x3)
                 Huge Bat (x2)
                 *Cypress Knight*
     Treasures: Quick Chicken (Huge Bat)
                Protect Milk (Scavenger)
                Bronze Lance (Cypress Knight)
     Sug. Level: 5

Fairly easy. Nothing new, plus you have weapons. The only difficulty is
keeping Cray alive. Try to get him to a decent level. Egress if you
must. Not even the Cypress Knight is hard, just has a higher defense
than the other guys. Beat 'em up and move on.

          --End Battle 3--

You're at camp. Save and go on. When you exit, you arrive just outside the
Bastion; you have to lower the drawbridge. Cray steps up before the guard and
states that he's there to brief the general on the Shining Force. The guard
lets Cray through, and Cray attacks him. The guard blows a whistle before
he dies. You must fight to get into the Bastion.

         ______________________________
        |BATTLE 4: STORMING THE BASTION|
         ------------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 5/10
     Enemies: Dwarf (x4 or more)
                 Cypress Knight (x3)
                 Death Archer (x2)
                 Huge Bat
                 *Dark Mage*
     Treasures: Hand Axe (Dwarf)
Medical Herb (Chest outside, far upper left)
                Cheerful Bread (Chest inside, left)
Powerful Wine (Chest inside, upper right)

     Sug. Level: 7

Shouldn't be much of a problem. The Dwarves regenerate in two door
openings, so watch out for that. Don't waste your time getting the
chest outside the Bastion, it's just a Medical Herb. If you want it,
take it, but it takes a lot of time having someone go all the way
there and back. Since the Dwarves regenerate, this is a good place to
level up a wee bit. If you don't want them to regenerate, just place
someone in the doorway and they won't be able to pop up. Or, kill the
Dark Mage; all enemies will be gone and you won't have to face the
     pop-ups any more.

          --End Battle 4--

You're in the Bastion. Lowe states that he thinks it's a creepy place, and a
BOOMING voice replies. It's a Brass Loader that will destroy the intruders
(you). Get ready for another battle.

         ____________________________
        |BATTLE 5: INSIDE THE BASTION|
         ----------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 5/10
     Enemies: Incubus (x2)
                 Cypress Knight (x3)
                 Death Archer (x2)
                 Ratman
                 Dark Mage
                 Brass Loader
     Treasures: Running Pimento (Cypress Knight)
                Steel Arrow (Death Archer)
                Middle Sword (Chest, upper right)
     Sug. Level: 8

This can get a little hectic, but again, you shouldn't be having a
problem. If you are, you're at a low level - try to get to level 8 or so
     by the end of this battle. This is where Sig and Cray will be handy;
you're sure to get hit a bit. Don't let anyone drop below 10 hp and
you'll be fine. There is no boss in this level. Kill all of the enemies.

          --End Battle 5--

After the battle, you are confronted by Claude, a Birdman from the Cypress
resistance. He came to Miniyom so he could join you.
-->EVENT: CLAUDE the BDMN joins the Force.
Claude goes up to the gate in the Bastion and presses a hidden button. The
gate opens and Claude offers to go on his ship. The destination is Asreet
Island, near the Cypress battle front. Off you go.

_.*CHAPTER 2*._

On Asreet Island, you see Cypress troops searching a village. Claude sees
that they are looking for the resistance base. The troops must keep looking
or "Bazoo" will have their heads. Interesting. Lowe realizes they are
searching for someone and that the Force must find them before Cypress does.

         _______________________
        |BATTLE 6: ASREET ISLAND|
         -----------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 4/10
     Enemies: Death Archer (x3)
                 Ratman (x4)
                 Dark Mage
                 Incubus
                 Rat Fly
                 Brass Loader
                 Hell Soldier
     Treasures: Antidote (Incubus)
     Sug. Level: 9

This is annoying because it takes a few turns to get to the battles.
Claude can get there right away, but do NOT let him battle alone.
The archers and ratmen only hit around 3, but they'll pounce on him
right when he gets in there. There's always the chance of double
hits and criticals. Claude does have a high agility,
but he could die easily. Have him tag along above the water.
Once you get through the Ratman, head straight to the second wave.
The Rat fly will attack the second you get in range, so watch out for
it. There's no boss in this level, so you'll have to go through
all the enemies to win. not too hard, just watch out for the Dark
Mage's Blaze 2 - it can do around 12 hp.

          --End Battle 6--

After the battle, Lowe can hear signs of battle in the town. You enter
camp. Do what you need to, and exit. An Asreetian questions Cypress soldiers
why they are attacking people. They did nothing. A Cypress soldier
informs that the guard knows too much about their secret plans, so he musn't
live. He dies in a firey inferno followed by a blow by a ratman. We're now
informed that the Cypress soldiers are looking for a MAYFAIR. She must be
killed. One soldier thinks he found something. He moves a rock to find
a secret entrance underground. He is unsuspectedly trampled by a centuar
that charges out from the stairs. A Priest taunts him to try and make a move,
even though he's vastly outnumbered. Another soldier notices the Shining Force
and notifies the Priest (possibly the head of the troops). The Priest calls
to seize you, but Lowe won't go down without a fight.

         __________________________
        |BATTLE 7: WHERE'S MAYFAIR?|
         --------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 3/10
     Enemies: Ratman (x2)
                 Dark Mage (x2)
                 Rat Fly (x3)
                 Brass Loader (x2)
                 Hell Soldier (x2)
                 Priest
     Treasures: Protect Milk (Bat Fly)
                 Antidote (Hell Soldier)
                 Powerful Wine (Brass Loader)
                 Medical Herb (Dark Mage)
                 Medical Herb (Dark Mage)
     Sug. Level: 10

Send one or two people downwards to kill the Ratman and the Dark Mage.
Remember, don't bunch up, be at least one space apart from one another,
because the Dark Mage can cast Blaze 2. However, you can use this to
your advantage if you bring Cray or Sig down there, heal up, and gain
a little extra xp (you get 10 or so when you heal little to none hp,
but sometimes 15-20 if a lot is healed). I sent Cray (he's awesome)
and Shade down there, but you can choose whoever. Once those two
are done, head right then up to meet with the rest of the Force,
who's taken care of the Mage and Ratman up there. On your way to the
right, you might get tangled with the Brass Loader and Dwarf; if you're
having trouble trying to fight both off, don't worry, the rest of the
party isn't too far off. Just bring them over and wipe them out. Now
head right. First kill the Bat Flies, then head to the Priest. He can
heal himself, so that's good and bad. It's good because he gets his
hitpoints higher, so when you hit him, he won't die and you still get
experience! This is why i love healers, they can give a little boost of
exp. But, the bad thing is that his hitpoints get higher, so you have to
do more to kill him. A double-edged sword indeed. Once you kill him
and all the other enemies (he's not the boss) you're done.

          --End Battle 7--

After the battle, Lowe sees a villager and tells Nick to talk to him. They
walk towards the secret entrance and the centuar from before pops out and
thanks Claude; he arrived just in time. He introduces himself, he is Stock.
He calls out Mayfair from underground, and she comes out. It turns out
she's a blind healer. She's the daughter of the Archbishop of Cypress...
that is, before Woldol took over. Even though she's blind, she can use magic
and heal, so she begs that you bring her on your journey. Stock says that
Woldol killed her father and blinded Mayfair, and she barely escaped. Woldol
killed Stock's family too, so there's nothing left for him to do here. He
wants to come with you too... if you let him.
--> EVENT: STOCK the RNGR joins the Force.
--> EVENT: MAYFAIR the PRST joins the Force.
Egh! Stock is at level 4 and Mayfair's at level 5. Next battle's gonna have
a lot of Egressin'... But on with the story.
Mayfair tells you that they can rest at the church tonight and leave at
sunrise. You go into the underground passage and arrive at Camp.
Praise the Lord!! NEW WEAPONS!!!!! Update everyone's equipment and save. Do
NOT promote those who've reached level 10; wait till you get up to level 20,
then promote. When you're done, exit camp.

You see a tower in the distance. Stock tells you that Bazoo the Wizard
lives there. Mayfair tells you that Bazoo is Woldol's right-hand man. He
does a lot of his dirty work. Lowe bets that Bazoo can dish out a lot
of answers. Before you can get to the castle, however, you must battle.

         _______________________________
        |BATTLE 8: OUTSIDE BAZOO'S TOWER|
         -------------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 5/10
     Enemies: Rat Fly (x3)
                 Brass Loader (x3)
                 Hell Soldier (x3)
                 Zombie (x3)
                 Skeleton
                 Priest
                 Master Mage
     Treasures: Cheerful Bread (Priest)
                 Steel Sword (Skeleton)

     Sug. Level: 11

I stayed in this battle until Stock and Mayfair reached level 11.
     It takes a long time, but It's worth it. Mayfair may go beyond 11;
she begins with 16 mp. That's at least 50 xp if you use 5 heals. If
she kills something with low hp, she'll already be on the next level,
with even more mp. Just egress and egress and heal and heal. You can
even do this for Sig and Cray, get them up to level 20, and promote
them! But anyway, watch out for these Zombies - There's the chance
of becoming poisoned when they attack you. The battle seems easy...
but then you reach the top. The nasty Master Mage can cast Blaze 3,
Hurting around 15 hp to whomever it hits... plus he'll have enough
mp to do it TWICE. So beware of that... then there's the Cleric,
who'll heal the Master Mage when it gets low. Then there's the
Skeleton, a strong foe... but he has a Steel Sword, so kill him
and give the sword to Claude or Nick. Keep one person adjacent to the
Mage (like Apis or someone with a high defense) - he won't use Blaze 3
as long as no one is next to them. Once you kill him and all the other
enemies, you can continue to Bazoo's tower.

          --End Battle 8--

After the Battle, Lowe congratulates you, and you head to the Tower. But
first, you come to camp. Do what you need to, then Exit. In the Tower,
you see Bazoo. He says that you won't get past him. He steps up and begins
to flash, then casts an evil spell. The ground starts shaking and a huge
trench seperates you and Bazoo. Bazoo says he'll be waiting for you at the top
of the tower... if you get that far. He disappears. Lowe feels Bazoo's evil
power, and tells everyone to go up the stairs. Can't fight Bazoo just yet.

         ______________________________
        |BATTLE 9: INSIDE BAZOO'S TOWER|
         ------------------------------
     Battle Difficulty: 5/10
     Enemies: Brass Loader (x2)
                 Zombie (x2)
                 Skeleton (x5)
                 Priest (x2)
                 Master Mage (x2)
                 Pegasus Knight (x3)
                 Hell Sniper
Treasures: Quick Ring (Chest, lower left)
                 [Empty] (Chest, mid left)
                 Battle Axe (Chest, upper right)
                 Power Spear (Chest, upper left)
     Sug. Level: 13

This can be tough. The gaps are very annoying and prevent you from
directly attacking the enemies. What I did was divide and conquer -
sent 5 people left, 4 right. I sent Claude up through the gap and
crushed all that i could - I gave him the Steel Sword from last battle
and Powerful Wine, Raising his attack to 41. Not bad, eh? If you do this,
fight enemies at the edge of the gap so you can only be attacked by one.
If a Pegasus Knight comes, kill that first (inside or edge of gap)
because he can fly, throwing in another attack alongside someone else.
On the left side, get the chest at the bottom and the top, but don't
worry about the one in the middle - it's empty. Ravage through the
enemies and your two teams will meet in the middle. There shouldn't
be much left to kill (unless Claude didn't survive/go up there). Head
up the stairs and kill whatever's left.

          --End Battle 9--

After the Battle, you go up the stairs and must face Bazoo. Lowe asks him
who he's looking for, and Bazoo will tell you, but... you must defeat him
first.

     Battle Difficulty: 5/10
     Enemies: Skeleton (x3)
                 Priest (x2)
                 Master Mage (x2)
                 Pegasus Knight (x3)
                 Hell Sniper (x2)
                 Arch Knight (x2)
                 *Bazoo*
     Treasures: Mystery Staff (Master Mage)
                 Assault Shell (Hell Sniper)
     Sug. Level: 14

No problem. After you clear the first set of stairs, have half the Force
head right, half left. The left is gonna be more hectic, so send your
more powerful fighters there. There's the Master Mage - he's the worst
of the problems. If you get too close he'll run up to you and cast Blaze
3, so I used Claude to stay off to the side in the air and attack when
possible. It's not over after him; two Pegasus Knights will fly down and
attack. They're very annoying; they dodged 60% of my attacks. Thank God
for Wendy. Make sure that both sides meet together before you go up.
The Master Mage, on the high stairs, is furthest out, so take him out
before he can cast Blaze 3. Don't get too close; Bazoo will use Bolt.
Kill the annoying annoying priest and the hell archer, and WAIT.
Once Bazoo moves (he just hops one space) ATTACK!!!! Throw all your
fighters upon him. After 4 (maybe 5, if your char's are weaker) hits,
he's dead! Easy, and no suffering from Bolt.

          --End Battle 10--

After the battle, Bazoo tells you who he's been looking for... NICK!!!
He's beamed up by Woldol. A female mage comes up and thanks the Force.
Her name is YEESHA... she's been sealed by Bazoo's spell.
-->EVENT: YEESHA the MAGE joins the Force.
She's surprised to see Nick here. Why? HE'S PRINCE OF CYPRESS!
(bum bum BUMMMMMMMMM)
The Force head to Cypress as Chapter 2 ends. Speaking of which...

_.*CHAPTER 2 ENDS*._

save your game.

_.*CHAPTER 3*._

You're at the customs in Cypress. People are being investigated by the guards.
Ruce is shown giving a story of why he's travelling. He passes; Nick is next.
As he walks out, King Edmond comes to the dock! Nick goes to the guards
and Ruce helps him in getting past. As soon as he goes past, however, King
Edmond stops him. He takes a good look at Nick, and is taken back when
he realizes it is the Prince. He orders their arrest.

     Sug. Level: 16

Not so easy anymore... I hope you've been leveling up all your
characters, because this is where it really matters. Every character is
vital to the half it is in, and the newer char's (Stock, Mayfair, Yeesha)
are stuck on the left, surrounded by enemies. The Lizardman were the
first enemies to do more than 2 damage to me... they actually hit 5 on
     Apis... I suggest that you use this battle to get to level 16 or 17;
battles with get much tougher than this. For the Pegasus Knights
on the boat, i was too lazy to wait for them to come to me, so
I sent Claude to kill them every time (I did this battle a few times).
Just be happy that when you are over with this battle, you get NEW
WEAPONS!!! Use this to motivate you through the battle. When all
(or most) of your char's hit 16, destroy all the enemies and procede.

          -End Battle 11--

After the battle, a Cat-like being comes up... he seems to know Nick and
is delighted that he brought warriors. Nick doesn't respond to him and Lowe
explains that he's been silent since he found out he was Prince of Cypress.
Why's that? Because he never told the Gardianans about his origin. Lowe
says that they might not be able to trust Nick. The stranger pleads
that Nick came to Gardiana to save the country. He's the rightful King of
Cypress. Instead of staying to avenge his father, he decided to help the
Gardianans. Lowe no longer mistrusts Nick and proposes that they go
to avenge his father. The stranger decides to stay in the port.
EVENT--> GYAN the BST joins the Shining Force.
NEW WEAPONS!!! But there's a problem.. most are for promoted characters!!
WHY???? If you've promoted already, you have no problem. However,
if you're waiting till level 20 like me to promote, you are utterly utterly
screwed. Just be patient, you'll get rewarded in time. Do what you need to
do and Exit.

Once you Exit, Gyan warns you all to stop. In your position, it would be tough
to hide from Woldol. The pampas they are on is very flat and barren.
Lowe agrees. Gyan suggests they rest here until nightfall. Gyan says that
he'll stand guard while they sleep... The Force sets up three tents, two for
the guys and one for the girls (Sig makes a wise decision... too bad he gets
kicked out). Night comes. Woldol comes (rather a projection). He sends his
soldiers to attack.

                 Bishop (x2)

                 *Deadly Born*
     Treasures: Black Ring (Sorceror)
                 DOMINGO! (Grass next to pond)
                 Demon Rod (Bishop)
     Sug. Level: 16

This can get ugly... there's a whole mess of enemies and they'll charge
at you at once (except the Deadly Born, who trots back). Shade died right
away for me, and the Sorcerer Freeze 2'd a few of my guys. The best thing
to do is go in inch by inch and when an enemy comes out to get you, you
jump on them. The good thing is that once you get past these 8 or 9 guys,
it's pretty much smooth sailing (almost). The best part is if you go next
to the small pond - go below the patch of grass on the left side and
search up - Domingo pops out! He was trapped in there and is relieved
     that he's been freed.
-->EVENT: DOMINGO the MCRT has joined the Shining Force
Now back to the battle. If you want, Egress and put Domingo in, or do it
after this battle. Anyway, after the bunch of enemies up front, first
take care of the Gargoyles - they have Blaze 2; they can attack multiple
enemies at once. When you get far up, Worms start appearing from
the ground. No biggie, pretty easy to defeat, but worth good xp. Only 3
popped up for me, but i'm not sure if there can be more. Don't worry
about the Deadly Born - his attack is a little high... but that's
it. Just hit him a few times and he's gone. Easy!

          --End Battle 12--

After the battle, the Deadly Born states that even though he failed, no one
has ever gone past the magic mushrooms, and curses the Force by saying the
Death Tunnel will be their tomb. Do what you need to at camp (put Domingo in)
etc. and Exit.

At Death Tunnel, a Ghoul greets you and tells you that Death Tunnel is the
only way to Gundoll Fort. It tells you that your friends (Nick's troops, most
likely) have been killed when crossing.
Suddenly, An old centuar comes out and warns you about traps. He tells you
that the magic mushrooms are very powerful. The Ghoul attacks him and he's
rendered unconscious. Lowe identifies him as Kashing, and is glad someone
survived.

                 Sorcerer
                 Bow Rider (x2)
                 Worm (x2)
                 Deadly Born (x2)
                 Magic Mush (x5)
                 *Ghoul*
     Treasures: Heat Axe (Lizardman)
                 Halberd (Chest, right)
                 Protect Ring (Bishop)
                 Critical Sword (Chest, lower left)
     Sug. Level: 18

Alrighty then, the infamous Death Tunnel. Right when you step up from
where you begin... Magic Mush's pop from the ground! What will they do?
Well, for their first turn, probably nothing. But in their next, they
SPORE y'all, in a VERY large range, causing all those in it to fall
asleep. That's not too bad, considering how much you would've expected
based on the Deadly Born's and Ghoul's taunts. Just wipe 'em out before
they can go a second time. Standard enemies, nothing new to expect. The
Evil Pixies aren't a problem at all, just upgraded Incubi. Most enemies
are going to be at the top, so send two or three to the left to kill
the Lizardmen (if they don't come up to you) and have one continue left
to pass through a Magic Mush and go down to a Gargoyle. Get the chest and
regroup. Back top, kill the Bowrider and Deadly Born, go left, and
jump on the Ghoul and Bishop. The Sorcerer and Worm may come up to help
the Ghoul, just whack 'em. Kill the Ghoul and you're done.

          --End Battle 13--

After the battle the Ghoul is appalled that you defeated the mushroom 'traps'.
Kashing comes to and tells the Force that some were killed, but others were
taken prisoner. Only a few people managed to escape. He wants to help.
-->EVENT: KASHING the KNTE has joined Shining Force
Off to camp. Raise the dead and save your game, then continue.
Kashing shows you Gundoll at a distance. The enemies notice the Force,
but Bazoo and Geppel aren't there. So the guards attack.

     Treasures: Buster Shot (Bow Rider)
                 Healing Rain
     Sug. Level: 18

Divide and conquer. Send 6 left, 6 right. I only sent three left, which
wasn't the best idea. One died and two were very very fatally wounded. It
doesn't matter how powerful your team is, send at least 4 or 5 left. The
Bow Riders don't have the greatest attack, but still can be a pain.
I promoted my characters during this battle - my fighters were at 18/19,
but my magic users were 17-19; I left them alone and promoted all my
fighters (I gotta wait till 20 so spells are accurate). Rampage through
(this battle's no different than any other), kill the Minotaur, and
proceed. I'm not 100% on this, but I've been informed that
the Evil Pixies will regenerate once killed.

          --End Battle 14--

After the battle, an old Gladiator (GLDT) comes out from the Fort.
It's GATES! He tells you that the Cypress forces are killing a
Gardianan every time Nick and crew kills a Cypress troop. He joins
And you're off to camp. Do what you need to (promote if you can) and Exit.

You're in the Fort. The two Cypressians from the beginning of the game come
out - remember them? Dantom, the wolfman, and Frabell, a paladin. They argue
who'll waste Prince Nick; Frabell has a special secret orb weapon type thing.
Gates notices that Frabell has soldiers, but no wizards. Gates sneaks into
the battleground for this battle.. if you don't like him, egress and take him
out.

        |BATTLE 15: DA FIZZLE BALLZ|
         --------------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 8/10
     Enemies: Evil Pixy (x2)
                 Brass Gunner (x3)
                 Deadly Born (x5)
                 Ghoul (x4)
                 Minotaur
                 Fizzle Ball
Treasures: Running Ring (Chest, outside fort, left)
     Sug. Level: ^3

You should get everyone to around 20, egress, promote them, and get
up to at least ^3, which is really easy. Go to ^6 if you want, it's
totally doable. Notice the Fizzle Ball in the upper left corner..
that's your goal. You know why there's no wizards? YOU CAN'T USE
MAGIC IN THIS BATTLE!! That's the Fizzle Ball's fault, wipe it out.
You're going to have to face some pretty annoying enemies along the way.
The Brass Gunners are a big pain in the arse; they have a high defense,
pretty good attack, and two-space range attack. Since there's no magic,
you can't heal (unless you have healing seeds or herbs). For this reason,
I delayed promoting Mayfair (Sig and Cray were promoted before) till
The next battle, as well as Yeesha and Wendy. However, once I wrecked
that Fizzle Ball.. I had some fun, muhahahaha.. except only two enemies
were left. Kill every little thing and you can proceed to the next
     battle.

          --End Battle 15-

Afterwards, Dantom comes out. Frabell follows and is appalled that someone
could survive her fizzle balls. She wants to kill them herself, and asks Dantom
for his soldiers. Dantom refuses, and is disgusted. If Woldol could only see
her now.. actually, he was. He's quite disappointed. She wants to explain, but
Woldol scolds her and commands her to return to the palace. She gets beamed up.
Woldol allows Dantom to fight Nick now. Dantom tells Nick that he's waiting
inside Gundoll Fort. Camp time. Save, do whatever, and Exit. You are
now going to enter the glorious Fort..

For a fort, Gundoll looks amazing. Almost TOO fancy for a Fort, but whatever.
Dantom tells Nick that he's not exactly looking forward to this battle. Like
his father, Nick will never back down. Even though Dantom's heart is with Nick,
he must kill him. How touching.

        |BATTLE 16: INSIDE GUNDOLL|

     Battle Difficulty: 7/10
     Enemies: Minotaur

                 Demon Master
                 Cerberus (x3)
                 Hawkman (x3)
                 Belial

                 *Dantom*
     Treasures:
     Sug. Level: ^7

A lot of new enemies here... this is not an easy battle. Hawkman..
a pain. Cerberus.. breathes fire. Belial.. strong and has bolt.
Cleric.. HEAL 4 plus Attack. Demon Master.. Freeze 3.. Brass Gunner..
big big pain again.. However, I should've prepared you well. In this
situation, you should be at ^8 or ^9.. if you promoted at level 10.
However, I told you to wait till around 20, so your stats should be high
enough so that you don't suffer that much damage. The Hawkmen were my
biggest problem.. they were easy to kill, but they have a very high attack
so that was a problem. Yeesha, Wendy, and others with low defense died
in one shot. Claude, however, had vengeance (level 9 and POW of 75,
bwahahahahahaahahahahahaha...). Dantom, the little coward, fled to the
farthest point in which you can reach him (unless you want to send Claude
to wreck him alone, which is NOT A GOOD IDEA). Some follow him, so that
saves you from attacking all at once. Go up the stairs and kill EVERYTHING
then continue left. Once everyone has reached the left side of the room,
send Claude to kill something from the side. If he stays off into the air,
the Belial (which may or may not have followed Dantom) will probably come
out and attack/use bolt. Wipe him out with Claude and have the rest of the
team come crashing down. To see how to kill Dantom (which isn't tough,
just attack attack attack), see the Boss Guide. When you're finished
     with him, you continue.

          --End Battle 16--

After the battle, Dantom refuses to kill you. He's served your family too long.
He tells you that King Edmond was brainwashed by Woldol. Woldol is worshiping
Iom, an evil spirit... interesting. Dantom warns you before he is diminished.
Afterwards, you find ANOTHER freed soul. It's another birdman, yaaaaaaaaay.
Lowe, again, recognizes the soldier. It's SHRIEK! Dantom helped him survived
to honor Nick's family. Most others were lost, but someone named LUG may still
be alive. He disappeared during the Gundoll battle, and headed for Cypress.
Lowe is sure that they'll find Lug in Cypress.
-->EVENT: SHRIEK the BDBT has joined the Shining Force.
Everyone was happy that Lug may still be alive, yet still were depressed from
what was going on. The battle against Woldol was coming soon...

_.*Chapter 3 ENDS*._

Save your Game.

_.*Chapter 4*._

You're in Cypress!! But King Edmond was waiting. You see him at the front
lines and he complains that a king must fight like a soldier. A Cleric informs
him that the Shining Force are approaching the castle (...with new weapons!).
Edmond must face them.

     Treasures: Evil Ring (Cleric)
     Sug. Level: ^8

Look at all that heavy grass and mountainous areas... this is
really what makes this battle a pain. It takes a loooooooong time to
movie around (Unless you have Claude, Shriek, and/or Domingo). Have
two people or so head to the upper left to kill the Cerberus and Brass
Gunner. Send two more (maybe three) down to kill the enemies there.
Send the rest inbetween. When you get far enough down, past the Belials,
Dulahans, and whatnot, Golems begin to sprout up from the ground. Do NOT
use Freeze; they are resistant to it. Use Blaze instead. When you kill
them, go further down and two more pop up. Now, you must face Edmond
and his two little cronies. GET RID OF THE DEMON MASTER AND CLERIC FIRST!
The Demon Master STILL has that nasty Freeze 3, don't be lazy and leave
him alone. If you get Edmond down to 2 hp, the Cleric can restore it
back to 99. Wipe them out and THEN you can procede to Edmond. Read
the Boss Guide for some extra tips.

          --End Battle 17--

After the battle, Edmond calls Nick a traitor to Cypress. He tries to make
him feel guilty by telling him that he killed his own uncle to steal the
throne. A centaur comes out from the village to tell you that Edmond was
just a puppet in Woldol's hands. Don't listen to him. The knight introduces
himself as RANDOLF, Nick's servant. He's the only one left from his platoon.
-->EVENT: RANDOLF the PLDN has joined the Force.
Randolf suggests that you rest here. Off to camp and NEW WEAPONS!
When you Exit, Randolf points out Woldol's location, in a castle on
a hill. The guards must do whatever it takes to delay the Shining Force.
Once they have completed the summoning (of Iom, no doubt), they shall be
invincible.

through, you'll meet with an Executioner, Evil Bishop (no no no no no),
and a Brass Gunner. The Brass Gunner should be no problem, and wipe out
the Evil Bishop; it's Aura 3 is very very very annoying and worse than
the Cleric's Heal 4 - Aura 3 does Heal 3 to a large amount of targets
(even though only three are left, but kill him anyway). Watch out for
the Executioner's attacks and heal, and you'll be fine. I used this
battle to get some people up to speed (Mayfair, Yeesha, Wendy, etc.)
You can run it through once, but I advise to do it three or four times.

Shriek), a long-range attacker (Shade, Stock), or a anyone that can
reach. Golems and Demon Masters will charge at you, so be prepared for
sucky hitting and awful Freeze 3's. The Wyverns up top will charge for
you directly, while the Chimeras remain in their positions. The Dulahans
from the edges of the map come at you too, and when you kill the two
that arrive, two more pop up in their starting positions. You can have
two able people stay there and kill kill kill to boost their level.
That's about it. To find out how to kill Geppel, refer to the Boss Guide.

You defeat him, but he tells you Bazoo and Frabell won't be so easy.
Woldol has made them stronger. Lowe believes they'll just be more of
an interesting challenge. You enter the castle.
In the Castle, Woldol comes out and tells you the summoning is done.
Iom is in the next room. He exits. Bazoo gets beamed down and begins to
to threat Nick. However, Frabell interrupts him. You have to fight BOTH.

     Treasures: Evil Axe (Executioner)
     Sug. Level: ^13

I thought this battle was very easy. If your characters are around ^13,
I ensure that you will have no problem. You can rip through the wave
of enemies at the beginning, and send two or three people to the sides
to kill the enemies there. Frabell is a pushover. I killed her in three
shots (one being a critical by Claude - 51 hp) and the only attack she
pulled off was 7 hp on Apis. No problem! Bazoo ain't that easy, though.
As always, kill the Evil Bishop. He often moves twice in a row, so
he could do Bolt 2 twice in a row. Never did for me, but it's possible.

          --End Battle 20--

Here's what'll happen if you kill Frabell first:
Bazoo'll yell out that once the monster starts to move, he will never be
stopped. The world will be theirs.

HOWEVER if you killed Bazoo first:
Frabell says that she can hear its heartbeat, and it's such a lovely sound.
[Thanks to Schilliger Heinrich <schilliger@swissonline.ch> for killing Bazoo
first and telling me the outcome]

In the next room, Woldol tells you that the summoning is complete; they are
too late. Lowe asks him why he's hiding the monster in the back. He asks
if there is something wrong with it. Lowe is about to go and check, but Woldol
sends his guards. He wants them to protect the monster until he's strong
enough to move... You start the battle.

STAY AWAY FROM THE EVIL MONSTER'S BOLT 3 RANGE!! Getting one person
in range creates a link and hurts people relatively far from the monster.
Kill the executioners and Woldol will come charging. His hp is friggin
50!! Just kill him immediately. Remember to stay a decent range away
from the Monster. You can, if you want, keep someone adjacent to him.
I fought him with Claude in the air and he only attacked physically.
No Bolt 3, which was good. Fore more info, check the Boss Guide.

          --End Battle 21--

After the battle, Woldol is pissed that you've killed his beautiful mystery.
Woldol must flee... with his treasure. However, he goes no where because
LUG arrives. Lug holds up the Sword of Hajya. Woldol is surprised he has
it. Lug knows that this is the reason Woldol wanted Cypress. Iom has no chance
against this sword, so Woldol had to destroy it. Woldol gets into the beam
thing and is transformed into a scorpion-like creature. You begin the final
battle.

Do NOT EGRESS. You must do this battle right after the previous,
or else you'll have to do both again. Taros are easy to take care of..
but Evil Bishops regenerate! have someone stand in the entrance where
they pop up to prevent that. Woldol has a deadly Venom Breath that
can take off around 30 hp. It has the range and effect range of Bolt
spells, which is bad. Only Nick can attack him. The first time he
does, however, Woldol counters and poisons his right arm. Keep
ALL HEALERS CLOSE, this is not easy. Woldol has around 250 hp and
Nick only does around 25-30 each hit. Use Cray and cast Boost every
now and then to boost up AGI so he can counter Woldol - he moves very
quickly. After all the anguish, he's dead. Easy!

          --End Battle 22--

After the battle, he gives a cry of defeat. The ground starts shaking and
there's a big flash. Woldol disappears. You now see all members in the
throneroom. Apis is surprised that it's over. Wendy tells him that
they did, in fact, be victorious, kill Woldol, and retrieve the sword.
Shade comments that he changed into a giant scorpion. Sig tells Ruce not
to worry, because Lug is safe!! Why isn't he saying Nick is safe? He
had to fight Woldol all by himself and crippled his right arm. But anyway,
Ruce is glad to see his father (Lug). Ruce tells him that they came to
find him. Lug had heard brave warriors were on the way, but he had no
idea his son was one of them. Nick spins round and round then collapses.
Gyan comes to check what's the matter with him. Everyone gathers and
sees that his hand turned into stone. The room darkens and you hear
a voice. It congratulates their bravely and well fought victory, especially
for fighters so young. However, this is just the beginning of a much larger
invasion... In order for Nick to heal his arm, he must face Woldol another
time.

Nick and the Shining Force restored peace to Cypress and Gardiana. Back
in the castle, Anri has awaken from her curse. She thanks everyone.
Lowe tells her that Cypress will send warriors into the continent, but Anri
will send Gardiana's best warriors to help them. Lowe, Ken, and Lug all want
to go to help Nick's arm. She closes by saying, "To Cypress!"

BOOK 2 - THE EVIL GOD AWAKES &bk2
-----------------------------------------

_.*Prologue*._

Gardiana and Cypress have joined forces in order to battle against Iom.
You see an odd creature sacrificing a human to Iom. You soon find out it's
Warderer. He sacrifices the King to Iom. The king is plunged into a sea
of fire. Warderer then consults Barbara for information on Cypress.
Barbara, a green woman that looks similar to Frabell. She tells Warderer
that they're marching towards Iom unaware of the trap that has been set up.
Barbara then tells Warderer not to worry about the Gardianan army. Warderer
now consults Solo, an old, skinny guy that looks like a wizard. He tells
Warderer that the fort at Algam Plains is close to completion. Interesting.
Traps are surrounding the fort. Warderer's last problem is getting the
Sword of Hajya. He paces back and forth and calls for Gordon. Gordon,
an odd looking hag, comes into the room. Warderer asks him about Prince Nick.
He asks if Nick will lead his army even without the support of Gardiana.
Gordon says he'll come, even though his hand has been turned to stone.
Since he can't use his right hand, Warderer wonders if he'll bring the sword.
He then gives Gordon his orders; after Cypress leaves their castle, Gordon
must raid it and bring Warderer the Sword of Hajya. Gordon leaves, stops
by Solo and speaks, and then exits. Warderer sends Barbara and Solo with him.
They leave. Warderer apologizes to the remaining man, Hindel, a dark knight
with an interesting helmet. Warderer has heard that Hindel's younger brother
died at the hands of a lowly swordsman. Hindel says it couldn't be helped;
if you can't protect yourself, you die. Warderer agrees.

At Cypress, Gyan gives a speech to the Cypress Army. He confrots Nick
(Who talks!!!) and leaves Mayfair in charge while he's gone. Mayfair,
whose eyesight is apparently back, says that he can count on her. The
drawbridge is lowered and the army is about to leave, when Nick notices
NATASHA. Natasha, along with a centuar and an unconscious boy, tells Nick
that she heard screams off a cliff and the boy was lying at the bottom.
The centuar (Dawn) takes him into the castle to look after his wounds.
The army leaves.

_.*Chapter 1*._

You're at the Cypress Castle. Young warriors are guarding the castle at
their respective posts. Mayfair is worried about Natasha; she's been doing
double guard lately. Natasha's fine. Mayfair notices that she is talking
with Deanna occasionally. She's the only one he talks to. Mayfair goes to
ERIC, another centuar, and is surprised that he isn't fooling around. She
leaves. Eric now joins his two friends. They tell Deanna to come with them,
but Dawn tells them to leave him alone; they aren't a good influence.
Natasha is disgusted that Eric's two friends left their posts. One tells
her to relax; nothing is going to happen. The wall on the left side
breaks and enemies crawl through. Same on the right. You start your first
battle.

You hear Mayfair crying out that there's a thief. A Ranger sneaks out
with the Sword of Hajya. Cornered and not knowing where to go, the ranger,
Graham takes a fighting stance with the sword. He breaks through the wall
and escapes. The Force follows. The ranger reaches a cliff, jumps down,
and runs. He notices that they're after him, so he calls the Dwarf.
The Dwarf scolds Graham and holds off the Force while Graham escapes.

Mayfair commends you from atop the cliff. She tells you that they must
retrieve the Sword of Hajya no matter what. She hops down and tells you
that the Thames Village is just around the corner, info can be found there.
You're in the village. Deanna follows Mayfair to question villagers.
In the weapon shop, they fail to learn anything. No one else is in the
town. A priest comes and sees Mayfair and Deanna, panics, and begins
to run. Mayfair asks why he's running. He replies that he'll endanger
the villagers if he talks to you. The Iom empire captured the villagers
and will exchange them for the Sword of Hajya. Mayfair tries to convince
him that they'll never committ to their promise, and that he should join
forces instead.
-->EVENT: SLADE the PRST has joined the Force.
Slade?!? the Priest?!? Whatever... Slade notices Graham with the Sword of
Hajya. He's heading for Albert Cliffs. Off you go. You arrive at camp.
Stock up on new weapons and continue your journey.
Slade tells you that at the base of the mountains lies Albert Cliffs.
However, Iom forces come. They notice the traitor (who might that be?)
and the Cypress Army chasing him.

I used this battle to bring Slade up to speed. Heal heal heal heal,

way is much more faster. When you want to advance, kill all enemies.

          --End Battle 3--

Mayfair tells Deanna to lead the group to the cliffs. You find Graham. An
Archer comes out of the small hut atop the hill and says the Dark Mage
is waiting for him. Graham tells them that the Cypress Army is following,
so the Archer sets to take care of you.

press A, and MAP is the left option), Graham is a GREEN dot, not
a red one, so you can't fight him anyway. This is another easy battle.
At your level (which SHOULD be 7 right now) you'll rip threw the enemies
with ease. The only enemies that give decent Exp are the Incubi
and the Death Archer. Once you kill the Death Archer, however, the
     battle is over.

          --End Battle 4--

Back at the Thames Village. Graham is being held by Iom warriors and a
Dark Mage tells him that his villagers will be freed if the sword is given
to him. Graham wants the villagers to be released first. A Death Archer
knocks Graham, causing him to fall. The Dark Mage takes the Sword. The
Mage says he'll kill the villagers, but Mayfair interferes. Graham gets

It'll take a while, but you'll hit 9 eventually. Kill the Mage and
you're done. Remember to pick up the Museum Ticket in the well
so you can play Book 4.

          --End Battle 5--

The Mage won't give the sword back. He attempts to flee. He summons a
gargoyle. It takes the sword and delivers it to Sir Gordon. However,
as it takes flight, Graham shoots him and it falls into the distance.
Graham apologizes and wishes to join.

Graham miscalculated where the Gargoyle should've landed. You hear someone
in the distance. An Archer stops an Iom warrior. The warrior calls for his
guards to attack, and the Archer is confused; they did nothing. The warrior
cuts off the drawbridge to the Castle and leaves the archer stranded. You've
been noticed. You get attacked.

should use to bring Graham up to speed.

          --End Battle 6--

After the battle, the Archer comes out. He informs the Force that the King
of Emild (this castle) has your sword. Go to camp, upgrade weapons,
save, and Exit.

In the Castle, the archer presents you to the king (look familiar?). He
asks if they're looking for the sword. They are. He holds up the sword.
That's it. Deanna begins to walk to him to claim it, but is stopped.
That, of course, is not the real King. It's Gordon in disguise. The Archer
is angered that he killed the real king, and Gordon creates havoc in the
throneroom. He exits in a passage under the throne. The Archer wants revenge
and joins the Force.

having trouble with Gordon, read the boss guide down below.

          --End Battle 8--

Gordon drops the sword, and Deanna picks it up. Before you have the
chance to return to Cypress, you hear a voice telling you that you
haven't won; you've already lost. The voice can't reveal it's true name.
It informs Deanna and Mayfair that the Cypress expedition fell to Iom.
Nick has been taken hostage. To rescue him, they must go to Portobello,
then cross the sea to Iom. Off you go to camp.

When you're done, Exit, and you'll be at Portobello. The Iom warriors
spot you, and the only way to get a boat is to fight.

                 Robin Arrow (Hell Sniper)
                 Quick Ring (Chest, right)
     Sug. Level: 12

New arsenal of enemies, but nothing you can't handle. Watch out for
the first Hell Sniper that comes at you (right above the stairs).
It's stronger than the others; it has a Robin Arrow, not a Steel Arrow.
The good thing is that you'll receive it once you kill him. After
you clear the first set of stairs, you should notice that the bulk of
the battle lies to the left... but there's a chest to the right. Send
1-3 people right (there are enemies) and the rest left. You might
not want to get it (it's a Quick Ring), even though I advise that you
do, but that's entirely your decision. The battle can get a little rough
now. The Pegasus Knight (which give great Exp till level 14) are
somewhat tough, and the brass loaders have a decent attack. The
Master Mage is tricky; it has Blaze 3 and can cast it twice, so keep
your HP above 15 all the time. Since there are two Priests in this
battle, one will go ahead and attack you, and the other will stay with
the Master Mage. Kill him first and then attack the Master Mage.

          --End Battle 9--

After the battle, the Mage confirms that Nick is indeed being held captive.
He's at Algam Fort, which is "inpenetrable". Mayfair tells everyone to get
into the boat; they're setting sail.

At the dock, the Iom's forces still try to block you from taking a boat.
Win this battle and you've got a ship.

move on to the next wave, which is not a very good wave. There's a
Priest (destroy it _now_), 3 Pegasus Knights, PLUS a Master Mage.
Don't forget the chest on the inside bottom right, it contains
a weapon to make Jaha more unstoppable (he's a monster!!). Space
out your team like a checkerboard - every other space should they stand.
this way, the Mage can only hit 1 person at a time. After you clear
these enemies, it's smooth sailin'. Notice that the Arch Knight has
TWO Power Spears - one for you, one for him. Rejoice. Don't ignore
the chest that's tucked down in the bottom left. You'll want the
juicy Running Pimento inside. Don't underestimate the Arch Knight,
he has a powerful attack and a distance that covers 2 squares. Kill
the Priest first, then the Brass Loader, and finally the Arch Knight.
Or whatever combination suits you, just kill them all and you have a
     boat.

          --End Battle 10--

You get the boat, but Mayfair senses that something is amiss. The boat
ain't movin'. A voice in the distance tells you there's a reason it isn't.
It's Randalf from Book 1! Sarah is also with him. They lost the battle
at Algam fort. These two and Claude (HURRAY) escaped. Randalf tells you
that they'll talk later; it's urgent that the Force gets off the ship.
However, as the Force walks off, the bridge to the ship explodes and half
the Force sail away. (Pretty convenient that the two people who have
Egress are on seperate sides, eh? Now ya know why Natasha has it).

Deanna and the Force sailed away. What's gonna happen?!

_.*CHAPTER 2 ENDS*._

Save and continue.

_.*CHAPTER 3*._

No one can control the ship, only Natasha would be able to do that. May
goes to the wheel to see if there's a way to stop it, but a Bishop
appears on it. It teleports to the top of the ship and summons more monsters.

        |BATTLE 11: ANOTHER BOOBY TRAP: THE SHIP|
         ---------------------------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 4/10
     Enemies: Pegasus Knight (x4)
                 Rat Fly (x2)
                 Master Mage
                 Evil Pixy
                 Bishop
     Treasures: Medical Herb (Bishop)
     Sug. Level: 14

Have fun with this level. There's no difficulty at all
(maybe a LITTLE...) and there's great experience. I got
Slade up to level 20 in this battle (heal heal heal heal
etc.) and promoted him right after. Yay. You can't just
kill the Bishop and win, unfortunately. Fortunately, you
must kill all enemies, forcing you to gain xp. A paradox
     indeed.

          --End Battle 11--

After the battle, look who shows up! CLAUDE! Rejoice! It's interesting
how Mayfair says "You must be Claude" when he first flies in. She
traveled with him the entire adventure in Book 1 and just realizes
who it is. Then again, she was blind. OK then!
-->EVENT: CLAUDE the BDBT has joined the Force.
Claude tells you that you'll be landing in the port of Demis.
You arrive at the Port (camp). You can buy some new weapons, but most
are Promoted Only weapons. Too bad. You can wait, only 5 or 6 more levels.
None for Slade, woohoo. You can get the Power Stick (unless May got it
from the battle vs. Gordon) and the Battle Axe (unless Jaha got it
from the chest in Battle 10). Exit when ready.
You're in a field that leads to Algam Fort, but Mayfair warns you that
the battle in unsteady. This is a VOLCANIC AREA. Why the hell do the
Iom bastards pick a fight in a friggin' VOLCANIC AREA? Erhem... anyway,
you battle.

         ____________________________
        |BATTLE 12: THE VOLCANIC AREA|
         ----------------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 4/10
     Enemies: Bow Rider (x2)
                 Arch Knight (x2)
                 Evil Pixy (x2)
                 Worm
                 Lizardman (x2)
                 Bishop
                 *Sorcerer*
     Treasures:
     Sug. Level: 17

This is fun. A lotta xp and you only get hurt a little. I did this
battle a few times to get everyone to 17. Just maneuver past the holes
and kill everything except the Sorcerer (unless you want to progress).
Watch out for the Evil Pixies, they can attack a group of people at once
and most likely twice in a row (one goes, then the other goes). When
you've killed most of the enemies and must deal with the three
at top, you don't have to worry about the Bishop. That is, unless
it comes down. The Sorcerer stays a decent distance away. It
has Freeze 2, so beware of that. Shouldn't be too hard to complete.

          --End Battle 12--

After the battle, the group gathers around the Sorcerer. With it's final
breaths, it creates an earthquake, creating a trench that you fall into.

Back to Natasha and her group. They're hurrying toward Algam. You
gotta climb the cliff.

                 Arch Knight (x2)
                 Bishop
                 Skeleton (x2)
                 Master Mage
                 Hell Sniper
                 *Lizardman*
     Treasures: Power Ring (Hell Sniper)
                 500 g (Chest, bottom)
     Sug. Level: 14

Remember: Natasha dies, GAME OVER. Well, not game over, you go back
to camp, but you get the idea... I, however, kept forgetting.
This isn't easy. You only have 5 guys and they aren't exactly the
strongest ones (well.. Luke's pretty strong). Don't worry about
leveling up that much, you can do that next battle. Just go
through the maze of ropes and stick together as a group (except when
you've reached the bloody Master Mage... panic like never before
and space out). It really sucks that Luke has awful awful MP, this
     is a situation where you really need it. I died in this battle;
Everyone died except Luke. Try, try, try again. If you want, avoid
half the battle by going directly up. Kill the Lizardman and you'll
     advance.

          --End Battle 13--

A Gladiator comes from the village once you complete the battle. He's
impressed that you defeated the entire troop. He's also grateful
for saving his village; it would've been destroyed. His village help
built the Algam Fort, and were going to be destroyed because they know
the fort's weakness. Sarah wants the Gladiator to help. He's
reluctant. Sarah tells him that they're the Cypress army, and he
joins.
-->EVENT: ROHDE the GLDT joins the Force.
You rest at the village. Buy a Chrome Lance for Randalf and give his Power
Spear to Dawn (if Apis has the other one, that is, and she hasn't
been promoted yet). Again, all these weapons (except Battle Axe and Power
Stick) are Promoted-Only, so wait. Exit when ready.

You climb down into the fort. Rohde tells you it's strong up front
but weak at the top. If you attack from above, you can't lose. Sarah
hears someone coming. You see a Lizardman and Bow Rider chatting.
One thinks Warderer is inhumanly cruel. The other says Nick is going
to be his next victim and sacrifice to Iom. You get noticed
and the Lizardman sounds the alarm.

Dammit!! Why can't I remember: Natasha dies, Game Over?? Oh well...
Keep Natasha at full health at all times and never put her at the
front line. Bow Riders will hunt her down. But anyway, this isn't a
tough battle. Have the entire group move in a clockwise direction,
killing all enemies. You'll land up in the middle, with a Sorcerer,
Lizardman, and an Evil Pixy. Easy. Just beware of the Sorcerer's
Freeze 2 and the Bowrider & Arch Knight up above. Chances are that
they'll come down to you. Do what I did; rush directly toward the
     Sorcerer and kill it. Advance.

          --End Battle 14--

The Sorcerer's last breath mentions Solo. He's the fort leader. Sarah
wants to find him. In the Fort, you're completely (well... almost completely)
blind. To get through Solo, unfortunately, you must get through
the wave of enemies here.

        |BATTLE 15: THE BLINDNESS|
         ------------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 9/10
     Enemies: Lizardman (x4)
                 Sorcerer (x2)
                 Zombie (x3)
                 Bow Rider (x3)
                 Bishop (x2)
                 *Deadly Born*
     Treasures: Demon Rod (Chest, left)
                 Protect Ring (Chest, right)
     Sug. Level: 16

To begin with, only three enemies are shown on the map. But, that would
make this battle silly and retarded. After a round or two, Zombies
begin to pop up, making this battle even more retarded. These are the
same Zombies from the Gordon battle, except they have Power Rings now.
Oh no. Take 'em out. Don't think it's all over, however, because this
area IS infseted with Solo's Magic. Zombies aren't the only things
that'll pop up. Send three people left. A Bow Rider and Zombie
will pop up immediately. Send three people up and right. A Lizardman
and Bishop will appear. See? This isn't a retarded and silly battle
after all. Actually, it quickly transforms from an unbelievable easy
battle to a rather tough one. I don't reccomend going left at all.
There's only a Demon Rod. Remeber: They can see you, but you can't
see them. A sorcerer, 2 zombies, a bow rider, and a lizardman will
pop up if you go left. 2 Lizardmen, Bishop, and Bow Rider appear if
you go up. Go up with ALL members. It's easier that way and the Demon
Rod isn't very valuable (that is, of course, unless you give it to a
Mage/Wizard, who can Use it and sap MP from an enemy). Next to the
Deadly Born (the boss), a Bishop and Bow Rider will pop up. Just
relieve yourself of all the anguish and take out the Deadly Born
     with your strongest characters (Randalf!!)

          --End Battle 15--

Ugh... After you kill the Deadly Born, he's astonished that they've been
defeated. Sarah agrees with me, this battle was tough. The Force must
rush to the fields to catch up with Deanna.

Back to Deanna's group. They're heading north in the underground caves
they plunged to. They're heading to Algam Fort underground. They are stopped
by Iom troops. KILL THEM ALL, LEAVE THEM IN A BLOODY MESS!!
...sorry. This Iom Empire is getting very repetitive. Nevertheless, you
battle.

                 Hawkman
     Treasures: Protect Staff (Bishop)
     Sug. Level: 18

Alrighty then. After a round, a piece of land is engulfed by the fire
lake, cutting you off from the Hawkman. Otherwise, this is a very easy
battle. The Pegasus Knights are weak, even with their Boost of power
(Power Rings). Rampage through as usual. When you get closer to the
Hawkman, the land breaks up again, forcing you to take only one path
to him. Oh well. Just destroy all the enemies and you advance.

          --End Battle 16--

You're in trouble. You've reached a dead end. And the Iom army is right
behind you!! FIND AN EXIT!! All of a sudden, you see a small circle of
light. Someone, with a familiar voice, drops a rope. He'll reveal himself
when the time is right. When you reach the surface, You find Natasha's
group. You rejoin. You're at camp now. Sarah is now a usable member for
the force. Do what you need to (like bringing Randolf into the force) and
Exit.

You arrive at the fields where Nick was captured. You won't be ambushed this
time, thanks to Sarah. You're heading to Iom's Castle. A Hawkman goes to
inform Solo and Barbara as the Zombie and his troops stall the Force.

Pathetic battle. 8 Worms, all give crappy exp. Just rush forward
to the Ghoul at the top by swerving left then up (if you want to
avoid 4 Worms and a Hawkman). The only pain is the Cleric - Heal 4
is bad enough alone, but it also has Attack, so it can beef up the
Ghoul or Bow Rider it's next to. Plus it's defense isn't exactly low,
so it'll take a few hits to bring him down. Then there's the easy
Ghoul. He's poisonous, but weak. I destroyed him with Randalf/Chester
in just a few hits. No problem.

          --End Battle 17--

The Ghoul says that a "Ballon" will avenge their deaths... unfortunately,
there is no Ballon, but Balloon, which you'll face in the next battle.
It's a typo. You head to Camp.
Do what you must and Exit. You see Barbara. She sees that they've defeated
Solo's forces, and thinks that Solo's power is weakening. Solo is
offended. He tempts Barbara to attack and they fight. After some attacks,
Warderer ends their bickering. Hindel is with him. He asks Warderer
about the results concerning the revival of King Emild. It was a success.
However, Warderer states that there is a traitor among Iom ranks. Hindel
asks who. He is about to state who when Barbara interrupts him and tells
him that the Cypress Army has arrived. Warderer sends Solo into the fray
while the rest go to the shrine. Mayfair looks to the back and assumes
that it must be King Iom. Solo stops them and says that his Death Balloon

I got my characters to 19/20, promoted them, and got them to around
level 2-3 in this battle. Some didn't reach 20, especially magic users,
so i didn't promote them. Anyway, one great thing about this battle
is the abundancies of treasures. There's so many! Anyway, send 6
people left, 6 right (or send a bit more right, more enemies there).
Once you progress, a voice warns you that the Death Balloon awaits just
ahead. It's a mine - if you don't disturb it, you can pass by it. Solo
wonders if this is the traitor of Iom. The voices disappear and an
ugly Death Balloon appears. Ignore it from now, it can't hurt you from
that far a distance. Once my group on the left reached it, another
Balloon popped up to the left. The thing about these balloons is that
they will do NOTHING if you leave them alone. However, their DEF is low
and they give good xp. If you kill it, it explodes, hurting all nearby
members of your force. Another balloon pops up in front of the Chest
to the upper right. One more pops up in the top center. Note that if
it does not die after a few rounds, it will explode itself. When
you've killed them, move on to Solo. Kill the Cleric and all the other
minions FIRST. Now it's just you and him. He's very fast so he might
cast Bolt 2 quickly side by side, so try and heal in between and space
and your characters that aren't attacking. His defense is pretty low
so if you attack him constantly, he'll fall easily.

          --End Battle 18--

Solo comes up to the Force and sees Deanna. He's surprised. Deanna speaks
his first words ("Huh?") and Solo knows who the traitor is. They all leave
but Mayfair stops Deanna with suspicion.

Warderer and everyone else left without Solo. Cypress follows.

_.*CHAPTER 3 ENDS*._

Save.

_.*CHAPTER 4*._

Hindel and Barbara rush to get Nick out of the area before Cypress arrives.
Warderer is waiting. Hindel tells Barbara to take Nick to the shrine while
Hindel meets up with the army. Barbara refuses, she has orders from
Warderer. She won't listen to Hindel. If Hindel started to act strangely,
Barbara must kill him. Hindel doesn't know what to do, so he goes with
Barbara to the shrine. Everyone else must stay and wade off the Cypress Army.
Back to the Cypress Army, not too far off. Natasha is concerned about Deanna.
Mayfair notices that Nick is being taken away.

This should be familiar if you've played other Shining Force games.
See that big blue orb at the top? Get out of its way when it turns
red, for it will fire a laser beam in an endless vertical range. It's
horizontal range is 3, so it CAN be avoided. It'll warn you when it turns
yellow. When it's red, it'll fire the next round. It damages around
14-17, so get ready to heal all that get hit. Enemies can be hit
too, so it might work out to your advantage when it fires. You can
avoid it by going into the inlets on the sides of the main path
to the Statue. Don't worry, it's not necessary to kill it. Go after
the Demon Master (but don't forget the two treasures on the side-
the Valkyrie and Buster Shot) and you're done. This isn't the best
place to level up; you can do that next battle.

come to you. Be careful of the Demon Master that may come out from
up top. If you want, send ALL of your members up (which I started
to do after repeating this battle a few times). You will come into a
melee before you know it. Heal, heal, heal - you're going to get
attacked a lot, so You better've had Slade and Sarah at a high level
by now. Luke can heal too, but with his MP, I just have him use
Heal 3 in emergencies and have him attack. He is a very strong fighter.
Barbara isn't a very tough boss, but she is very cheap. Refer to the
boss guide for tips to defeat her.

          --End Battle 21--

Barbara dies. Mayfair tells Deanna to go after Warderer. However, someone
stops them. Iom troops stop you from behind. However, Ruce comes to the
rescue! Mayfair identifies him as Scavenger... alrighty... Guardiana (or
is it Gardiana? The spelling fluctuates, I don't even know anymore)'s troops
are allies to Cypress, so they've come to help. Deanna and Mayfair go
into the shrine. Save at camp, give the Axe of Atlas to a GLDT, and Exit.

Mayfair and Deanna are exhausted from exploring the shrine. Mayfair can
hear them up ahead in the next room. An eerie, familiar voice fills the
room... it's Woldol!! His restless soul has come to avenge himself. If
you're thinking, "Oh, Bloody Hell", you're thinking correct.

        |BATTLE 22: THE WOLGHOST|
         -----------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 8/10
     Enemies: Demon Master
                 Taros (x2)
                 Assassin (x4)
                 Dulahan (x4)
                 Evil Bishop
                 Wyvern
                 Chimera
                 *Death Woldol*
     Treasures: 6000 g (Chest, left)
                 Evil Ring (Demon Master)
                 Evil Lance (Chest, upper right)
                 Light Sword (Death Woldol)
     Sug. Level: ^13

Alrighty then... This is tough, but not TOO tough. Too enemies have
Bolt 2 - Death Woldol, with the Light Sword, and the Demon Master, with
its Evil Ring. You'll receive both when the battle's over. Anywho, send
6 left and 6 right, and make a complete semi-circle to have both sides
meet up at Death Woldol at the same time. Enemies will come to you, so
be prepared. DON'T curve into the middle and then go up, it'll be a
bloody mess. Everyone will group together and all the enemies at the top
will attack you at once, which is not a good thing, especially with
the Demon Master and Death Woldol in attacking distance. Both of them
can hit a large number of people painfully with Bolt 2. The Assassins
will group together and attack many people at a far distance. The Wyvern
is just a generic ass. I had to use a Healing Rain for looping left and
right and then meeting in the middle (below the stairs next to Death
Woldol) and people still died. Go around and it won't be as tough.
Refer to the Boss Guide to see how to kill Death Woldol.

          --End Battle 22--

After the battle, Death Woldol starts melting (Hrumph. Why doesn't he just
yell, "oh, what a world...")! Anyway, Mayfair tells you to enter the shrine,
so in you go. Camp, first. Give Deanna the Light Sword (unless he killed
Death Woldol), save, and Exit.

In the shrine, Warderer detects the traitor. It's Hindel(Y'all thought it
was gonna be Deanna, didn't you??)! Warderer kicks him around and the Evil
Bishop tells him that he must be rid of. Warderer tells him he must suffer
first. Before that, though, they must sacrifice Nick. Mayfair interrupts him.
Mayfair learns that Hindel was the traitor, and wonders why he helped
Cypress (Remember all those voices you heard? That was Hindel). Deanna
mumbles and starts stepping up. What's going on? You'll have to wait untitl
you get rid of Warderer first.

        |BATTLE 23: THE FINAL BATTLE...?|
         -------------------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 4/10
     Enemies: Executioner (x2)
                 Skull Knight (x3)
                 Sentinel
                 Assassin (x2)
                 Wyvern
                 Demon Master
                 Evil Bishop
                 *Warderer*
Treasures: White Ring (Chest, upper right on trail)
     Sug. Level: ^15

Psh. Not hard. Use this battle to test out the beautifully powerful
Light Sword. Quickly rid of the three guys in front of you. Send
two guys left to kill the Executioner, four or five to QUICKLY dispose
of the Demon Master and then the other Executioner. Heal up and meet
up in the middle. Kill the Assassins and Skull Knight; Stay away
from Warderer right now. Move some guys to the left and some right, just
don't confront him yet. Clear all the guys there and the wyvern that
comes down. Warderer and the Evil Bishop will be left. Send Claude
(or anyone with a high movement range) to get the chest on the upper
right of the trail that goes around the fire. You'll get the White
Ring, something you should immediately equip on Deanna. Anyway,
what do you do now? Egress and do the battle again and again and again
until you're level 15 or higher for all (or most) characters. What next?
Kill Warderer. Refer to the Boss Guide.

          --End Battle 23--

Warderer disappears. He reappears next to Nick, lying on the sacrificial
bed. Hindel, unmasked, strikes Warderer. While Hindel distracts Warderer,
Nick escapes. Look! His hand is no longer stone. Hindel tells you that
by defeating Warderer, his spells have been broken. Hindel tells him
to go to his friends and take the Sword of Hajya (hurray a USE). That
sword will nulify Iom's power. Nick confronts Deanna and says he looks just
like Hindel. If you haven't guessed it yet (HUGE clue when Solo died), Deanna
is Hindel's brother. Warderer sent Deanna into Cypress and he nearly got
killed (fell off the cliff unconscious, taken in by Cypress).
Meanwhile, Warderer levitates Hindel of the ground and tries to sacrifice
him, but is too weak. With his last bits of strengths, he manages to throw
him in. Warderer hops into the lava as well. Iom is summoned.

        |BATTLE 24: THE FINAL BATTLE... SERIOUSLY|
         ----------------------------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 7/10
     Enemies: Iom Doll (x4)
                 Evil Bishop
                 Iom (worm thingy) (x2)
                 *Iom*
     Treasures: Healing Rain (Evil Bishop)
     Sug. Level: Any

5 enemies?? Pish-posh... Well, 5 tough enemies... well, make that
4 enemies and little bastard that will NEVER DIE (I am talking about,
of course, the Evil Bishop...). The "Iom" series of enemies all
have 100+ hp, but defense in the 30's, so it's not too difficult to
kill them. Don't underestimate the tiny little Iom-worm things, they'll
Venom Breath up to 5 members at once, doing around 30 damage per person.
See those ugly blue things with a red eye? They're fairly easy to kill,
but they repop. That means two things: 1. CRAP!! 2. Exp!! A paradox.
I must've killed 30-40, but then I got bored. I gained many many levels,
so I was all beefed up to take on Iom. I placed May and Natasha on
the spots where the Dolls regenerate (magic is useless..) and attacked.
     Refer to the Boss Guide.

         --End Battle 24--

Iom wilts down and sinks into the lava. You can see Warderer lying (or
floating?) there. Warderer hears someone calling him. Iom is takin
him to Hades. Warderer melts to his skeleton and dives under.

Everyone who died has now been revived. Nick says that Warderer and Iom
are gone, but Hindel will not return. Deanna is speechless. He looks
around for his brother. Nick tells him it's useless to search; Hindel is
dead. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake. The Shrine is collapsing.
Deanna doesn't want to leave without Hindel. Natasha tries to convince
him to go. He's convinced and they leave.

Back to Cypress castle; Natasha, Dawn, Jaha, and Eric are at their posts.
Mayfair comes out, and everyone asks what will become of Deanna; is he
leaving? Gyan and Nick are trying to convince him to stay. Gyan comes
out, but looks glum. Nick and Deanna come out, and it is apparent that
Deanna will leave. Nick gives up. Deanna begins to leave, but Mayfair
stops him. She knows Natasha has something to say. Natasha says she's going
with Deanna, no matter what. He nods. They go off and you see a little
sequence with them together, going off in the distance. How cute.

Thus Ends Book 2.

BOOK 3 - THE NEW CHALLENGE &bk3
-----------------------------------

[thanks to Whatley <whatley_4@yahoo.com> for item locations in this
Book]

Let me just first say that Chapter 3 is much tougher than its two
predecessors. Be warned and don't worry that you die often. If you can't
finish a battle, switch your team around with different people and see
if it goes well. Also, there are MANY MANY Hidden items in the
battles. I will thoroughly look through each battle to find every one.
To see which members I have in my Force, go all the way at the top
of the FAQ. The members in capitals are the members on my team.

_.*Prologue*._

You see Nick, Jaha, Dawn, and Luke at their posts at Cypress Castle.
Eric believes it's his lucky day. Nick's going to be crowned today.
Luke complains that they're on duty, Eric blames it on Jaha and Luke, Jaha
gets pissed and whacks Eric and Luke, and then Luke whacks Jaha and Eric.
They all fight. Eric could just imagine what Natasha would say if she were
here... They left their posts. How dispicable. They then see Natasha
and Deanna arrive. Dawn brings them into the Castle. As the three guys
return to their posts, an old woman arrives, apparantly for the
ceremony. Eric asks for her invitation. The old lady wasn't invited,
but she SHOULD'VE been. She isn't allowed in. The old lady says she'll
go, but attacks the trio with a spell. Her and her four followers head to
the Castle, and on the way, CHU RAO gives Eric a kick (bwahaha). He
reveals the name of the Old Lady - DAVA. They interrupt the ceremony
and Dava complains that SHE should be crowned - all Nick did was defeat
a "small" devil. Ken comes out and scolds Dava. a scruffy Gladiator
stands up for her. Anri starts getting pissed. She calls back Ken,
and Dava calls back her scruffy Gladiator, BULLDOR. Dava eventually
casts a spell on Anri, and she disappears. Dava disappears with her
three henchman as well. Dava says she'll let Nick be king if he can
save Queen Anri.

_.*Final Chapter*._

Nick and his crew left towards Dava's Mansion to rescue Anri. You
arrive at a graveyard. Something pokes behind Luke, and he thinks
it's Eric. Something pokes Eric and he tries to defend himself. He
thinks Luke just pushed HIM. They turn around and see zzzzzzzzzombies!
They run forward and a cloud zaps four gravestones, revealing more
zombies.

  Note the new difficulty ratings.

        |BATTLE 1: THE GRAVEYARD|
         -----------------------

     Battle Difficulty: 88/100
     Enemies: Dava Pixy (x4)
                 Dava Bat (x4)
                 Dava Born (x4)
                 Dava Zombie (x3 and up)
                 *Dava Ghoul*
     Treasures: Mithril (see diagram)
                 Medical Herb (see diagram)
                 Running Pimento (Dava Bat)
                 Venom Javelin (see diagram)
                 Evil Ring (see diagram)
                 Giant Knuckles (see diagram)
     Sug. Level: ^11

Let me first give a diagram to prevent confusion on the graves:
      _ _ _ _ _ _
     | | |D| | | | | | | |E| <-- Fifth Row
      _ _ _ _ _ _
     | | | | |x| | | | | | | <-- Fourth Row
      _ _ _ _ _ _
     | | | | | | | | | | |C| <-- Third Row
      _ _ _ _ _ _
     | | | | |B| | | | | | | <-- Second Row
      _ _ _ _ _ _
     | | | | | | | | |A| | | <-- First Row

               YOUR STARTING POINT

What the hell, might as well point out the locations of the items
     with this diagram.

     A - MITHRIL
     B - MEDICAL HERB
     C - VENOM JAVELIN
     D - EVIL RING
     E - GIANT KNUCKLES
     x - Zombie Regenerating Hole

That should make things easier. Now, then, back to the battle:
Don't think this is it, you'll have to face four more enemies once
all your characters move once. Doesn't seem TOO tough though, right?
Well, just advance a little more. 6 more guys will pop up at the
holes in the ground. Hmm.. Well, one more round later, 3 more pop
up! Yes, this IS a lot of enemies. The solution? Be Very, Very
careful and have Sarah. She has Aura, so she can heal a bunch
of people at once, which you'll love to have right now. Note that
at "x" in the diagram, a zombie will regenerate when you kill it.
I highly suggest you put someone there. People WILL DIE in this
battle, so don't worry if it happens to you. It's normal. I suggest
using Blaze 3 against the Dava Borns (Skeletons); Your strongest
characters will only be able to pull off 20 tops and most others
will hit around 10. Blaze 3 can do around 15 and hit multiple people
at the same time, making it vital to this battle. Try to kill the Ghoul
quickly, or else the huge arsenal of enemies will eventually overcome
you. Also note that a Dava Bat might appear at the location of
the Giant Knuckles, so you'll have to kill it or wait till it
moves if you want the Knuckles (you want the Knuckles). Whew...
if you thought this battle was impossible, you're not going to
survive the following ones at all.

          --End Battle 1--

Dava now knows that you are just barely strong enough to defeat her
zombies. But, now you have to kill her three followers. Enter
the mansion. You come to a room where Dwarves, Centaurs, and a bunch
of other creatures have passed out from being piss drunk. Two
dwarves come to Mayfair and act friendly, and try to
