"One of the better Sonic games"

This is one of best Sonic games. It is better than 1 but not better than 2. This game was the first Sonic game on CD and the medium sure did help the game. The bad thing about the game being on the Sega CD is that not many people had the chance to play it.Now lets get on to the review.

Graphics:The graphics in this game are pretty good. The enemies are big.The backgrounds are well animated. The thing I hate is that the colors are really bad. The game just doesn't seem as bright as Sonic 2. Other than that little problem the graphics serve there purpose.

Sound:The sound is usual Sonic fare. The same sound effects that were used in the first few Sonic games are present in Sonic CD. The opening song is pretty catchy. Robotnik's laugh still scares me to this day.People say that the Japanese version has some different music I never played it so I can comment. The songs were pretty good IMO anyway.

Replay Value:There isn't that much. There are 2 endings but they aren't that different that warrant another play around. The Chaos Emeralds aren't that difficult to get in this game there by eliminating replay value.You can keep playing to get the high scores in time attack. It doesn't help much.

Game Play:It is a Sonic game which makes it good (all the Sonic games by Sonic Team are anyway). Sonic has a new move which is basically the same as the spin dash,you will hardly ever need to use it. Sonic can now travel through time which can alter the 3rd act in the levels. The past and future of each level are basically the same thing just with a different colored background. The game is still great. Robotnik is not that difficult. There is a great race with at the end. The levels are pretty big bigger than the ones in Sonic 2 even. The new special stages are a bit different than the other Sonic games you have to destroy bombs by a certain time to get the emerald.

Story:There is no story. It is the same as always save the furry animals from Robotnik.

What else can I say about this game that I didn't in the review? There should have been a sequel but there never was which frankly sucked.This game is great I suggest you buy it if you have a Sega CD or CDX.
