Jaguar XJ220

"Back in the day..."

I used to play this game day and night back in the day...I found my sega CD just yesterday and with it I found my only CD game, Jaguar! So i took it out and started playing! It's pretty good considering how old it is...and heres a breakdown of it!

Graphics 8/10: For the Sega CD, I'd say that the graphics of this game would be an 8/10 on the system. I mean it has never lagged for me and everything is clear. I can see all of the cars properly, the roads are made properly, and the damage on my car is shown properly. They could've made it a little bit better at times, but they did what they had to and it was a great success. Too bad there wre no commercials about this game, as it was not well recognised. They could've made major money off of this game cause its great. O well. No advertising= no one knows about this game.

Gameplay 8/10: The gameplay is the most important thing IMO, and Jaguar delivers gameplay well! The cars are very easy to control and are also fully customizeable! Just like real life, you race to win money and you actually repair your car if it gets damaged. Very fun, time passing and realistic (if you compare its graphics to those of the 3 next gen systems then no its not realistic. BUT if you compare them to those of the Super Nintendo then ya!)

Sound 4/10: All I can say is that it annoys me. The engines don't sound TOO realistic. Hey, you can always play on mute >.<. The only sound I like is that of when the race is about to start. The countdown! That sounds pretty good. An also when you are repairing your car. For me, the rest of the game is mute. It won't be the same, but you'll probably save your ears some damage and give them a rest for a short period of time.

Overall: 8/10
You won't be able to rent it or buy it cause its not too well known and not many people still own a sega CD! But, nevertheless still a great game. This is all that sega had to show me for me to buy its systems. Now since Sega is half Dead, I sit here waiting for another racing game as easy to play and as fun to play as Jaguar. So far I have found none.
