Ground Zero Texas
Review by KasketDarkfyre
"Hmmmm....confusing."
-Graphics 8/10-
This, just like Sewer Shark, is based on FMV visuals and movements. What you do, is follow the movie, and do what it tells you to do when it tells you to do it.
The FMV's are slightly blocky, but hey, it can be overlooked for watching what is simply, an amazing leap of technology, it has a storyline, and real-life human beings playing out the characters on the screen.
Consider this a choose your path adventure movie.
-Sound 8/10-
Again, movie quality sound, for a movie type game. The effects, and voice overs are superbly done for your listening enjoyment.
The best part is, is that you don't and can't turn this off, you have to hear what's going on, in order to proceed through the game.
-Control 4/10-
This is where the fun stops. It gets confusing, and disheartening at times, when you don't shoot the right thing at the right time. The control is slow...very very slow in fact, that you'll probably die quite a few times before you actually get anywhere in the game.
-Gameplay 8/10-
Like Sewer Shark, it's a matter of survival, and choosing what to hit, and how to hit it. You'll love this game if you've played Sewer Shark, and it offers a few things that Sewer Shark didn't.
First of all, it has an interface, that can be confusing...more like a map, of where you have to go. You won't really understand until you start playing, but once you have a grip on what you're supposed to do, and what you're supposed to shoot at, then you'll get a feeling for the game, and you'll have a blast playing.
The game can be a little slow at times, and there is quite a bit of dialouge in-game. You'll eventually look past this
and see the game for what it is, fun.
-Overall 7/10-
This follows Sewer Shark almost to a tee in visuals and sound, most of Sega CD's earlier games were FMV gaming types, that you may or may not have fun with. It's truly at your discresion. It's got a good story, it's got the visuals, it's got the sound, and even though the control is tricky, once you have the hang of it, there's nothing stopping you.
