""Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'"... I picked the game back up after all of these years and rediscovered the magic of it!"
There's so much to say about this amazing game. It comes from back in the day when working designs still made/translated outstanding RPGs, instead of the half-ass projects they throw onto the market today.
I'll start with music.... 10/10
This game has outstanding music, from the boss battles, to the theme, or even the field music. It was good enough for me to download off the internet just to listen to anytime. (My personal favorite is the boss battle music)
Gameplay... 10/10
Vay has a quick learning curve and is easy to pick up for any gamer, hardcore or not yet it gets progressively harder as you go so both new and experienced gamers get a worthy challenge. I bought it back when Sega cd was in its prime (or at least as much of one as it ever had) and can still enjoy it today, which is amazing to say the least.
Price 10/10
You can probably find it on EBay with a few other games for only a couple dollars, hours of entertainment for cheap is always a good thing.
Graphics/Story 10/10
Although the anime cut scenes can be corny at times the game's story plays out very well and rivals even Lufia IMHO. The graphics are your standard lufia, early Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire graphics with the little people in the field and more detailed enemies, landscapes etc... The battle .
Replayability Very good -
Vay receives the Darth Revan honorary double duce thumbs up for replayability, you can beat it then pick it up a week later and its worthwhile again (I’ve finally beaten it now after all of these years because I lost it and have already restarted it). Once again, I have to say great… no fantabulous game…. So great, so great…
In closing, pick up this game if you’re a big Sega CD fan wanting to increase the size of your collection, if you’re a hardcore RPG gamer, or even if you’re new to the genre and just want to try out an oldie but quickie. I mean I loved the game when I was probably around 7 and I didn’t understand much of it (I was an early reader but the humor isn’t noticed by someone so young) now I’m replaying it and loving it again and again, it’s just that good. Well, I guess if you aren’t convinced by now you’ll never play it, nor will you know about the mystical armor of Vay… or whether or not Prince Sandor will ever save his bride from the Danek… Auf wiedersehen -DarthRevan
