2. INTRO
--------------
High School! Kimengumi is a game based on the homonimous anime and manga. The
game is dated of 1986, which is really old, but the game has sort of a unique
gameplay if compared to all the other Sega Master System games.

First, some backstory on the anime. It was first presented as a manga series,
created by Motoei Shinzawa, in 1980. The first manga volumes are called
"Sannen Kimengumi", which shows the (mis)adventures of the 5 mains guys and a
girl named Laura. In 1982 another series was made, this one being called
"High School! Kimengumi". This series is the one the anime is based on, and
also the game. The anime series was created in 1985, and totals 86 episodes.
This series is not known by many outside of Japan, but from what I know, it was
somehow popular in France, where the anime was dubbed "The Insane Insane Insane
College".

The game was only released in Japan, so I think you should get some emulators
ready. You play the game as Yui, the girl with the big smile and pink hair.
Your friend Chei had the ever-living hell scared outta her from those
weird-faced guys, so Yui has to go after them and show who's boss.

Last, the word "kimengumi" means "funny faces" or "those with weird faces".
Alcyone-Sama suggests that a more fitting translation is "weird-faced group"

3. VERSION HISTORY
----------------------
Version 1.0 (10/15/2004) - Pretty much everything done. I don't think there'll
be any update for this.

Version 1.5 (10/21/2004) - I was wrong. The updates: changed the contact
address, added the Contents section at the beggining of the FAQ, and corrected
a minor error in the version date.

Version 2.0 (10/25/2004) - Guess I was wrong again about the "no updates"
thing. After receiving a very informative mail from contributor Alcyone-Sama,
I've decided to rewrite some of the text. Also, gave them guys their proper
names, and corrected my mistake of calling Dai (the guy in the Music Room)
a girl, even though he looks like one. All thanks go to Alcyone-Sama.

-----------------------
4. ENEMIES
-----------------------
Note that if any enemy touches you, it's game over.

Generic Dudes - they use sunglasses. They are inside most classes. Buckets will
hinder their progress, chalk and erasers will knock them down.

Science Lab Guys - same as Generic Dudes, except they are uglier. The harmonica
will make them sleep for little time.

Frogs - they are inside some desks. Not too much of a worry, since they walk
straight down. Just get out of their way.

Cockroaches - they are inside some desks. They can bother you very bad. To get
rid of them, exit the room.

-----------------------
5. CONTROLS
-----------------------
A Button (Button 1) - bring menu out, confirm menu options
B Button (Button 2) - open doors/desks, enter rooms, use equipped item
PAUSE Button - pause game

-----------------------
6. MENU
-----------------------
These options are named after my guesswork, they are not translations.

GET ITEM -> gets an item that is within your range.
USE/EQUIP ITEM -> uses or equips an item. If you equip an item, press B to use
                  it.
DISCARD ITEM -> throw item away. Note that if you discard an item, you can
always return to the place where you got the item to get
                another of the same one.
TALK -> talks to a person that is within your range. This is useless if you
        don't know japanese.
CANCEL -> go figure.

-----------------------
7. ITEMS
-----------------------
Try to memorize the characters for your items, because I can't help you there.
Also, note that if you ever discard an item, and need that item again, just go
back where you found it and it will be there.

Also note that you can get only one of each item at a time.

CHALK (equipable): this item is found in most classes, near the blackboard.
You can throw it at your enemies to stun them for a little while. Can be thrown
up to 10 times. After that, you have to get another one.

ERASER (equipable): this item is in some classes, near the blackboard. You can
throw it at your enemies to stun them for a while. Can be thrown only once.

ALARM CLOCK: makes a big noise.

TRUMPET: found in the music room.

HARMONICA: found in the music room, has a nice melody. The science lab guys
will sleep after listening to it.

BUCKET: it is almost everywere. If you lay one of these in the way of an enemy,
they won't get past it.

LOVE LETTER (equipable): you can catch someone with this.

BALL (equipable): throw this to a bad baseball player and...

RING BELL: ring this to a show-off so he...

DONUT: eat and get some extra diamonds. While you're eating, you're invincible,
but you can't move.

MILK: same as the donut.

ROPE: most important item. After you distract any of the guys, use it to catch
them. A girl will appear and kick them to kingdom come (I mean, to the Final
Room). To easily memorize it, its first character is a square.

8. WALKTHROUGH
-----------------------
This map will be very important for later reference, so be sure to look at it
for the rooms' names.

First, let's get the rope. It's in Class A. Open the second desk of the second
row. Grab it, because without it there's no game.

- Catch Kiyoshi, the 1st guy
Go to Class D. Get the Love Letter over one of the desks. Now head to Class F.
Equip the letter and throw it (you don't need to aim, the guy will get it
automatically). When he gets the letter, go near him and tie him with the rope.

- Catch Jin, the 2nd guy
Go to Class B. Get the Alarm Clock over the teacher's desk. Head to the Nursery
Room and use the Alarm Clock. When the guy gets up, tie him quick or he will
return to sleep.

- Catch Dai, the 3rd guy (it's NOT a girl as I thought)
Go to the Music Room. Press B next to the seat (left side of it), and you will
start playing the piano. A guy will come, dancing. Wait until he's near you,
press B to get off the piano and tie him up before he gets out of the room.

- Catch Rei, the 4th guy (leader of the guys)
Go to the Science Lab. Open the second desk of the third row. Get the BALL
inside it. Head to Class H. Equip the BALL and throw it. Wait until the guy
gets whacked in the head, then tie him up.

- Catch Go, the 5th guy
This is the most tricky. First, go to the Music Room. Get one HARMONICA. Now
head to the Principal. You have to get the RING BELL, but the problem is that
the table will crash and the Principal will wake up. If you get near him while
he is awake, it's game over.
Okay, get the RING BELL. The table will crash, the Principal will wake up and
you will be automatically pulled into him. You have to waste some time until
the Principal returns to his sleep, and you must not get near him. While you
are being automatically pulled, play the HARMONICA. When the song ends, the
Principal will return to sleep.
Now get outta here and head to Class C. Use the RING BELL, then wait until the
guy crashes to the floor. Tie him up.

- Final Room: The End
After catching all 5 guys, enter the Final Room. It will show how many guys
you got (all of them, if you followed this), how many points you scored and
what your grade is.

And that is all.

10. FAQ
-------------------
Q. Why is the FAQ so small?
A. The game is small as well.

Q. How are these guys called?
A. As contributor Alcyone-Sama told me, they are:
   - Rei Ichidou (he's the leader, and the guy you get with the baseball)
   - Go (the guy you get with the RING BELL item)
   - Dai (the guy who looks like a girl, he's in the Music Room)
   - Jin (the guy who is sleeping in the Nursery Room)
   - Kiyoshi (the guy with the large smile, you get him with the LOVE LETTER)

Q. There are secrets?
A. The most "secret" thing you can find here is some extra diamonds. In some
rooms, when you pass through a certain place, you'll get a diamond. Try to
pass through the two bookshelves in the Classroom.

Q. How do I get the DONUT and MILK in the Cafeteria?
A. You have to talk to the woman there first.

Q. Where do I use the above items?
A. The only place I know of is in the Cafeteria. Get the milk, go to the bottom
of the room, between the rows of tables, and drink it to get a diamond. But
you can always use its invincibility effect to your favor.

11. CREDITS
------------------------
- To Alcyone-Sama, for great info about the series, it helped me greatly.
