Operation Wolf
Review by BlooditeDrakan
"Before there was Rainbox Six and Counter-Strike..."
These days, when you think of a game about wailing on terrorists, you think of famous titles like Rainbox Six, Ravenshield, Counter-Strike and assorted other titles of such gameplay. Back in the days of the NES and Master system however, there were games like this, Operation Wolf.
Story. So What's going down in "Operation Wolf" then? Well it all began with a coup d'etat in Cherigo, giving rise to the political leadership of the Communist party. Even worse, the new President didn't waste time sending the Pro-Carmean Ex-President and his staff into a concentration camp. So the President of Carmea decides there's only one thing left to do - send YOU into the now hostile world of Cherigo, penetrate key territories and get those prisoners out of there - or else they face execution! Well then, that's a hell of a mission is it? Can't be easy to execute!

Graphics. Well done. Every level is perfectly drawn, and things you'd expect to find in such places are logically placed. A jungle is filled with lush vegetation, with a river in the middle. The communication has all the buildings and the satellites needed to reach other bases and so forth. The explosions are nice too. The Drawings you see in between each mission depict what is happening, and they are well drawn. The right expression is drawn for the right moment, along with great attention to detail all over - just look at the first mission accomplished picture showing a detonation! And you have to love the look on fear on the soldiers face as he begs for his life, telling you what you need to know. *Grins evilly* So in short
I really have nothing to complain about.

Sound. There isn't much for music. You have standard mood fitting music for your operation beginning, mission accomplished, and game over. Oh, and the title too. But there's no in game music. Oh well. The sounds are rather good though. The gun sounds are rather fitting, as are the explosions. People make the standard bleeps and bloops when they get shot, and when you pick up items too. The only thing I hate (and this is in a lot of games too) is that bloody beeping that goes off when you're low on health. To make matters worse, the lower your health, that faster it goes. Ugh. So
the music is almost non-existent, and the sound is almost perfect, except for that beeping.

Gameplay. Bear with me people, I don't play shooters and racing games with a control pad anymore. But If you wanted to for reasons beyond me, you can use a control pad if you wish. So anyway, first and most importantly, how does the accuracy fair? The enemy will be begging for mercy it's so accurate. Make sure you have a control pad plugged into slot 2 as well, as it's used for lobbing grenades. After all, you don't want to be caught empty handed because you wasted all your bullets on helicopters, yes? That's right, your ammo is limited. You start with 5 clips and 5 grenades, with up to something like 15 to 20 bullets a clip. As your screen scrolls right to left or vice-versa, soldiers will pop out from the sides, trying desperately to spray you. Spray back, but watch out for the innocent people my friend. Villagers and gurney carriers must NEVER be shot unless you don't mind being injured for it. There are all sorts of items thoughtlessly strewn about too. Clips to fill your ammo, a little object that says free, giving you ten seconds of unlimited ammo, food to heal your injuries, and of course, grenades, to take out the pesky helicopters and boats. Just watch where you lob those things though, because innocent people tend to get caught running underneath them too. Certain missions can even reward you with full health or full ammo too. Nice touch, it makes me feel rewarded. So what do we have here? A nice mixture of balance and action. Very well done!

Replay Value. Hey, why not? It's as good as it gets anyway and you can always come back to see if you do better at it. Just don't expect anything new, that's all.
Replay Value? 7/10
Overall I'll give it
9/10
