Introduction to a Perfect Low-Level Game.

Firstly a Perfect Low-level game is where you complete the game with the
MIMIMUM possible levels, some misinterpretation may happen here as this means 2
possibilities:

1st - Finishing game with the Lowest levels required to be strong enough to
complete the game to its fullest.
2nd - Finishing the game with the Lowest Level possible to achieve after
completing the game to its fullest.

Well it turns out this FAQ details on the 2nd possibility because the forced
exp etc you HAVE to gain along the way will be enough to get you through
(although I should say... BARELY).

And so we have it, this FAQ aims to bring you to the end of Crono Trigger at
the lowest possible Party Average & Team Average.

>-2-<

FAQ's

Q: Why should I take this Challenge?
A: Well personally I would it very satisfying completing my challenge and gave
me something to brag about (perhaps), It's quite amusing comparing my ending
party levels with other peoples (which as you'll see may be a quarter of what
yours were).

Q: Is this even possible?
A: If your careless, no. If you read and memorise my FAQ, maybe. If you read my
FAQ and try a few creative things perhaps and are -patient- then definitely.
I must add however there will be a few things noted in this FAQ that MUST be
done (absolutely mandatory) to be able to complete this challenge e.g. you may
need to collect something such as a defence or health enhancer which will
protect you from an attack that would make the battle impossible.

Q: Who should attempt this challenge?
A: Anyone who has patience and has played this game at least once normally,
this FAQ does NOT go into detail on the game (where things exactly are, places
etc.) although I do give SOME instruction.
I HIGHLY advise you play this on an emulator - simply for save states, although
this challenge is entirely possible with people who prefer to use their SNES
Carts, its just that some of the avoidable encounters may be are EXTREMELY
difficult to avoid (namely 6500000 BC - Nizbel II lair where there are several
difficult-to-avoid encounters in a row - if your chances of making one is say
one in 7 and there are about 3 difficult-to-avoid encounters between 2 save
points - then your chances of making it are like 1 in 300 without save-states,
of course its all in positioning it will take far fewer attempts then that.
Battle-Wise save states are not needed as much so long as you keep track VERY
CAREFULLY of a few bosses health, I have given ALL bosses HP next to their Name
& Exp.

Q: But at those levels, how on earth do you survive attacks and actually hit
for any respectable damage?
A: Thanks to a lot of game mechanics and EQUIPMENT abuse, a lot of the problems
that would be encountered aren't such big problems, E.G on the damage part,
well the game mechanics make it so that most of the characters damage is
dependant upon his weapons power. An unpowered level 1 Crono with the Rainbow
will do approx 1/2 the damage physcically as a lvl ** Crono would. Although
he very much pales in the magic department but just take what you can get and
run :).

Q: Is this challenge just a complete struggle?
A: In party you may will struggle yes, you will probably realise later on that
VERY proper preparations before a battle will sometimes make the battle easier
then it would on your first regular playthrough.

Q: Anything else I should ask?
A: I'll answer any questions E-Mailed to me - especially grateful for people
pointing out errors and perhaps routes to obtain a lower party average or make
a Hard battle easier.

IMPORTANT TIPS AND NOTES

-ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS run from random encounters, this can be achieved by
pressing and holding L & R buttons down and waiting a few seconds.
**If your playing on an Emulator (which I advise for save-states) and your
having trouble getting L & R buttons to work together - set them to the same
button**

-I semi-advise you to set your battle cursor to MEMORY (by selecting Save
Battle Cursor - Y in the config menu) and it's pretty much mandatory to set
Battle Mode to -WAIT- mode - especially for Magus, Nizbel II and Lavos.

-In a LLG (how a Low-Level Game will be abbreviated from now on) the Wallet is
your Knight in Shining armour because it converts ALL exp you receive into G
meaning your exp worries from this point onwards are gone forever (UNLESS, YOU
ARE CARELESS AND LET CRONO DIE WITH IT, SELL IT ETC - IN THIS CASE BANG YOUR
HEAD AGAINST WALL REPETITIVELY UNTIL SATISFIED)

-If you're like me and are forgetful, I advise you read through another
walkthrough briefly to remember how to DO this game.. I got lost a few times
myself not knowing what to do next or where to go - this FAQ will NOT go into
depth on completing a normal game, so if your playing this game for the first
time ever I highly advise you use another FAQ, of course if your REALLY stuck
on a boss, there are a lot of nifty tricks in here that can make your life
easier.

-As you may have thought.. you WILL encounter a lot of party - One-Hit-Killing
attacks which are basically unsurvivable simply because of your low levels -
however there are lots of strategies that can be applied that will make
unsurvivable attacks survivable or even negatable - of course there are some
attacks that you cant do either.. but details on surviving these are detailed
later.

-You do have several FORCED encounters (excluding bosses) that can't be run
away from, In which case they much be defeated (and exp gained) in what manner
you defeat them however this will be described in the game mechanics section.

-All party members outside the battle will gain 75% of the exp as the member/s
that are inside the battle (described later in mechanics section).

-Crono is the main character and will be in the party AND in the lead whenever
possible, there are only 2 exceptions, 1. Where Crono dies and 2. At Geno Done
where Robo must be in lead - So Crono will take #2 Spot.

-Money earning before the Wallet is difficult - as there’s only a near-finite
of cash worth in items etc available to you without fighting unforced battles -
so spend money wisely - the things I tell you to buy in this walkthrough should
be enough to get you by until you receive the Wallet.

-Sometimes in battles you will need quite fast fingers to get your
attacks/heals in before your basically killed. If your having serious trouble
set your Battle Gauge Speed to 8 (slowest). This will slow down the pace of the
fight for you a little.

-Tabs are quite important to collect through the game. Power tabs being least
important and Speed Tabs being by FAR the most important. You MUST collect all
or nearly all of the Speed Tabs noted in this FAQ (I think I have noted nearly
all of them), I may have missed a few Power/Magic Tabs but that’s because I was
looking extra carefully over the Speed Tabs. You can probably get by with
missing a Speed tab or two, but any more and this challenge gets extremely hard
towards the end.

>-4.1-<

IMPORTANT GAME MECHANICS

NOTE: This part has been split into 2 sections, the first section deals
entirely with exp management mechanics and the last section deals with battle
mechanics

*****************
**EXP MECHANICS**
*****************

As this Challenge revolves around low levels, in what manner you obtain them is
obviously going to be priority here’s the nutshell.

**Ways of a character NOT obtaining ANY exp**

1.) Don’t fight the battle by running away, avoiding the point of encounter
2.) Having the character K.O'd after the end of battle
3.) Having the Wallet equipped on a Party member in the battle, this accessory
converts ALL exp into G in a 1:1 ratio. He/She does NOT have to be conscious
when the battle is finished for the Wallet to have its effect (which means you
can give it to your most useless Character in the battle.

I think that's all of them, method no. 3 can only be taken when you have revived
the Charged Pendant (at 12000 B.C)

Because of this way number 2, this means we can have 2 characters avoid ALL exp
they’d otherwise be hit with later by always having them in the party & killing
them off.

**Minimising exp gained from a forced battle**

1.)
Unlike other games (namely the Final Fantasy series) produced by Square Soft
(now SquareEnix) experience does not share out.

Example :
In a Final Fantasy game for e.g., if you gain 40 exp in a battle and have say 2
Party members active at the end, the exp is divided between the two and they
both gain 20 exp.

However in Crono Trigger, the exp is NOT shared out between the conscious party
members after a battle, if you fight a 40 exp battle and all 3 party members
are active, each of the 3 members would receive the full 40 exp.
So to minimise the exp gained from a battle you must have only one party member
conscious after the battle.

2.)
In rare cases you can change you battle that you fight by saving, reloading
state because the monsters that you fight will be randomly selected (different
monsters will mean less exp, less exp means lower levels at the end) I will
CLEARLY point these battles out to you because one or two definitely make the
difference of a level or two.

3.)
And Finally...
The levelling up outside of the party mechanic. This should have its own
section but it somes under the title so this mechanic will be described here.

ALL characters outside the party when an exp gaining battle has been fought
will gain 75% of the battle exp, so if you fight a 400 exp battle, all party
members outside all will gain 300 exp EACH

BUT...
When a character gains a level outside the party, ALL exp that would normally
be gained towards the next level simply disappears.

Taking an example from later in this FAQ
Lucca after a battle with reptites (with her out of the party) only requires 5
exp to level up after, so after the second battle with reptites which would
have netted approx 200 exp for her, instead she only gained 5 exp, levelled up
but the excess 195 exp disappeared.

This factor will shave off a LOT of levels off your final total, and quite a
few battles are re-arranged (with who gains the exp) to make best use of this
mechanic.

**Minimising levels gained from a forced battle**

Apart from the above, the only thing worth noting is that characters of a
higher level can absorb more exp before a level is gained then a character of a
lower level.
So Crono requires 20 exp go from Level 1 to Level 2 while say Magus requires
around 9800 exp to grow from 37 to 38.
So to attain the lowest possible party average, all forced exp should be lumped
upon the highest level character you have (although exceptions are made because
of the mechanics in section >-4.1-<, not only this though but the 2 lowest
level characters (Crono & Marle) bust be kept inside the party whenever possible
because the massive exp of future battles will level them up
drastically and will make your party average huge (in comparison with the
minimums).

It’s because of these above mechanics that Crono & Marle will be the 2
characters that will stay in the party all the time and be killed off after
every single battle to avoid all exp from every forced battle, meaning they
should finish at their starting levels.
However there are a few circumstances in which Marle cannot be in the party for
a few particular battles, and will gain some levels prior to her starting level
as a result.

Here’s the list of ALL your characters initial levels (these levels are fixed)

Crono: 1
Marle: 1
Lucca: 2
Frog : 5
Robo : 10
Ayla : 18
Magus: 37

And its also worth noting that Magus’s initial level is = to all your
character’s level’s added together lol.

>-4.2-<

Battle Mechanics:

Just a few notes here:

1.) Hasted Characters
i.) Haste doubles a characters speed however, it seems that up to a certain
point - Haste doesn’t seem to speed up your character (I imagine there’s a
speed cap).
ii.) When a Auto-Hasted is K.O'd (wearing a Haste Helm) the Haste effect for
when the character is revived disappears.. and gains his first turn at his
normal speed.

2.) Auto-Revive
When a character is brought back by a Lifeline or Greendream, if he/she has his
turn ready and menu up and is killed, his ATB bar is reset to zero when he/she
is revived, however is the ATB bar is filling when the character is K.O'd,
when the character is revived, the ATB bar continues where is was when the
character was K.O'd.
Not only that but is the ATB bar is full (in bright white) but the turn menu
isn’t up, then if he is K.O'd like that character will be revived with their
ATB bar full!

NOTE: THIS MECHANIC IS ESSENTUAL TO BEATING LAVOS WITHOUT MAGUS

3.) Natural Magical Resistances
Each character in the game has a natural resistance to his/her own magical
element, however even characters without any magical abilities have a
resistance too.
CRONO/LUCCA/MARLE/FROG/MAGUS all have about a 15% resistance to their own
element	(Lightning/Fire/Water/Water/Shadow respectively)
AYLA has approx 15% resistance to Fire magic
Robo has approx 20% resistance to Shadow

The are a few fights where this mechanic helps although isn’t necessary.

>-5-<

And finally.. The Perfect Low Level Game Walkthrough.

*********
1000 A.D Crono's Home
*********

Enjoy the lil scene at the start with Crono (Level 1), go collect 200 G from
Mum and first make your Way to Guardia Forest (don't go to Leene Square).
Now this may sound strange but head up then right and encounter the 3
Hetakes

**********
Hetake x3
9 Exp
**********
Have Crono attack each one and kill them

You are probably thinking 'but this is a LLG, this wasn't necessary'
Well Crono starts with 20 Exp for next level, this 9 exp isn't enough to
level him up but does give him 3 Tech Points towards his Cyclone, which
somes in useful later.

Now head to Leene Square, Run into Marle (Level 1) - do NOT fight
Gato - Silver Points unnecessary, make sure you return cat, don't eat old mans
lunch, refuse to sell the pendant and wait for Marle to get her candy - now get
sucked into Lucca's teleporter to begin your insane adventure.

*********
600 A.D Truce Canyon
*********

When you appear here you'll find yourself in your first inescapable encounter.

**********
Imp x 3
6 Exp
**********

Just have Crono attack these - these are the LAST 6 exp Crono will
EVER gain - yup that’s right Crono will FINISH at Level 1, with 5 exp needed,
to grow to level 2. Crono will also gain 3 more Tech points & learn Cyclone,
which makes a future boss fight easier.

After your done collect the Powerglove & Tonic then head into the Market, buy
about 20 Tonics (more then enough for the next section) now head into
Guardia Forest.

In Guardia forest there’s a bush here - with a monster who keeps dropping
Shelters - and they're FREE! You need about 15, Keep re-entering & exiting the
forest (use the entrance near castle) and get your total. ALSO make sure to
grab the Power Tab in the bottom right area of the forest (it's on one of the
rocks), run from all encounters.
Whenever you enter this forest in future, it would help to grab a shelter when
passing by.

In the castle grab ALL chests (2 Ethers, 100G and a Bronze Mail) and speak to
Marle, then collect Lucca (Level 2) and head your way to the Cathedral.

**>-6-<***
Cathedral
**********

Enter, find the hairpin and you'll face an inescapable encounter

**********
Nagette x 4
32 Exp
**********

Have Crono & Lucca kill the 2 Nagettes closest to Lucca first then focus on the
other 2, let Crono die and Lucca finishes this - absorbing the 32 exp (heal
with a tonic if necessary) - Cyclone can come useful here.

After this Frog (Level 5) will come help, use the organ and proceed into the
Cathedral. Run from every battle and grab every chest EXCEPT the Nagette
Bromide and do NOT go down into Magus's shrine, both lead to inescapable
encounters.

There IS one avoidable inescapable encounter on the stairs, in this case hug
the left or right side and you should avoid this no problem.
You should grab a 100G, Revive, Tonic x2, MaidainSuit (give Lucca), Ether x2,
Steel Sabre (Give Crono) Powertab in the bucket in the room with 2 Guards
(monsters).
Save your game.
In the next room grab every chest and you should come to an inescapable
encounter

*********
Hench x3 + Diablos x2
53 Exp
*********

Again just attack - let Lucca & Crono get K.O'd and have Frog clean things up -
if Frog is getting pasted have him Slurp himself one or two times.
Pick up the IronSword (Frog) play the organ and head straight towards Yakra
(avoiding the monsters), heal with a shelter.

*********
Yakra
50 Exp
920 Hp
*********

Wow, 920 Hp - well my only advise here is ONLY attack when Yakra is close to
the attacking character - don't bother healing Crono or Lucca and attack Yakra
constantly and heal with Slurp/Tonics if Frog's Hp gets below 50 - Yakra will
fall and Frog will absorb the 50 Exp.

After release the chancellor and grab the Mid Tonic from the chest.
Afterwards Frog will leave the party, now go back to the Cathedral, go grab the
Nagette Bromide, Speed Belt (VERY USEFUL) and the Defender (the defender and
the belt should be in Magus's shrine which are now empty of monsters.

**>-7-<***
1000 A.D - Guardia Prison
**********
Go back to Leene Sq and Lucca will now leave your party, bring Marle 'Home'
(lol...) after the following Scenes you'll end up in jail.
Save up, collect your Ether(s) and heal up, wait for the 3 days to pass
(getting out the other way leads to unnecessary inescapable encounters), Lucca
will save you.
Grab the Bronze Mail and talk to the fallen guards for Tonics/Mid Tonics.

Now.. SAVE FRITZ - this is important as he will give you 10 Mid Tonics later,
head up and around (do not take bottom corridor as this leads to inescapable
encounters), go across bridge and head straight thru to the next room which has
2 inescapable but avoidable Shield-Shaped monsters then go left into the next
room, grab the shelter then head back into the room with the 2 monsters.

Now to avoid these 2 line yourself up RIGHT IN BETWEEN the two and run through,
you will avoid this encounter, head left and head through the hold and
eventually reach a room with a Lode Sword!! (Crono) and 1500 G, come back up
now head right & upstairs.
Pick up the 5 Mid Tonics off the guard and save, if your using an emulator save
state too, now equip Crono with the Speed Belt or Power Glove and Lucca with
the Speed Belt or Bandana - make sure Crono has his Lode Sword equipped.

**********
Dragon Tank
40 Exp
Head - 600 Hp
Grinder - 210 HP
Body - 270 Hp (I'm pretty sure I’m close on these)
**********

Crono should be able to do 80 damage, Lucca 35, open out all out on the HEAD,
now the battle begins.

The head is Capable of healing each part of the body 70 damage (sometimes
faster then you can damage it), so that must go down first, the head and body
can also attack, the head does a fire based attack & the body fires missiles -
(which I found was usually Crono), so after initial blitz have Lucca focus on
healing herself & Crono with tonics and Crono attacks head. Do NOT use Cyclone.
AFTER the Tank released its energy (running you over..) have both Crono & Lucca
heal themselves with a Tonic or two & continue attacking till head gone (40 or
less Hp - not safe BTW).
Do same with Grinder, keep Crono alive for the body.
When the Head & Grinder are gone the body will counterattack with a laser
(30 damage), keep Crono on decent health until your sure you've taken most
of its 600 Hp, then let Crono die from its counter-attacks and finish things up
with Lucca - who will absorb the Exp & Grow to level 3.
Escape the castle, Collect Marle and escape to 2400 AD.

**>-8.1-<***
2400 A.D - Bangor Done
**********

You arrive in Bangor Done, in the room you arrive in is a sealed door, behind
it is the Wallet, but.. We got another half of a game to play before we can go
through this, so this means you still got lots of monsters to avoid etc.. hehe.

Head straight to Lab 16 and go through it, make sure you grab the Berserker and
Lode Bow and running from every encounter (including the mutants) using the old
L & R buttons, don’t you find it strange the monsters disappear after running
away, even without killing them, lol.

Anyways, you CAN go to the Sewer Access, head right and grab the 600 G in the
Chest (the fight is escapable), this isn’t necessary but every bit of cash
helps, return back to Arris Dome.
You should be nearly empty on Tonics right now, go buy about 20-30, this will
be plenty and then buy one Iron helm now go SAVE UP.
Head towards the food storage, stop before you reach the room before the storage
(the one with the boss encounter).

Give Lucca the Iron Helm, Speed Belt & Madain Suit, Marle the best of whatever
you got left (with the Bandana) and Crono the Bronze Mail & Power Glove.
Now run straight through the room and you’ll encounter a Boss (if you wait in
the room a bit you’ll encounter an Inescapable battle.. Hence run through)

*********
Guardian & Bits x2
300 Exp
Guardian - 1200 Hp
Bits - 200 Hp
*********

This is the first & last battle Marle does exactly the same damage as Crono,
both of which do 40-43 damage each.
If you attack the body while both bits are alive, they counter with Delta
Attack on all 3, which will probably ruin you, attack the body with one bit
alive and they’ll use amplifire on the attacking character (45 Damage),
amplifire is also used as a normal attack with only 1 bit is alive.
To beat this boss, I took an all out approach and attacked each bit with all 3
(and healing with first available character is health fell below 45) then
blitzing the body. If your playing on emulator save state after you kill both
bits, have attacked the body as much as you can and has just revived both,
because you need both Marle & Crono dead so Lucca can finish off the body, if
not keep CAREFUL track of his hp (use a piece of paper).
Keep attacking and healing if Crono or Marle dies don’t bother reviving them
(if you have any revives at this point), if both die and your about 300 or more
short of killing the body you should restart.
Make sure Crono & Marle die then the Main Body is at about 100 Hp (preferably
by attacking the body when there’s only 1 bit left to deliberately activate the
counter-attack) then finish off the remaining bit then the body off with Lucca,
who will absorb the full 300 Exp.

Anyway after this battle, Lucca will level up TWICE to level 5, your current
levels should be:

Crono: Level 1 *
Marle: Level 3
Lucca: level 5

*Means this is the Characters final level

Run through, after the scenes grab the Mid-Ether now go catch the rat, activate
the console & head through, grab the Mid-Ether and watch Lavos Destroy the
world.
Head out and REST IN THE ENERTON, this will be your last chance to heal for
free until you reach the end of time, save and head over to Lab 32.
Grab the Mid Tonic & race Johnny & head to Proto Dome, SAVE OUTSIDE.

You’ll enter another inescapable battle

**********
Buggers x3
54 Exp
100 Hp each
**********

Take out the bugger closest to Lucca and weaken the two near Marle & Crono, let
Crono & Marle get killed (if your on emulator press the turbo button) then
finish up with Lucca who will gain ANOTHER level.
Now I advise if your using normal game to save outside again then re-enter, if
emulator save state.

Ahead of you are 4 inescapable but avoidable buggers, WALK towards and hug the
wall in front of them (bottom end of the screen) and ‘slide’ across holding
DOWN and RIGHT, then up then right to get to the stairs then down and right to
go down them. SAVE STATE.

Phew, now go up and you’ll meet one of your best characters ROBO! (Level 10).

Take Robo, Crono and *LUCCA* with you to, yes I know what your thinking, Marle
will gain exp when she shouldn’t be, but I’ll explain this soon enough. Head
out AVOID THE ENCOUNTER AGAIN and enter the Factory.

**>-8.2-<***
2400 AD - Factory
**********

As you enter and when Robo activates the console you’ll meet an inescapable
encounter

**********
Acid x1
33 Exp
**********

Wait until the Acid takes out Lucca & Crono and have Robo kill it (heal himself
with Cure Beam if he gets low).
Now head back to Proto Dome & pick up Marle once again (save outside before you
do so) & re-enter the factory.

**Skip the next paragraph if you don’t care about why I made you have Lucca in
party**

Now I will explain what I have just done;
After several playthroughs I found that if Lucca is made not to absorb ANY exp
in that battle then after the next few she is able to fight Heckran later and
absorb all his exp without a level gain but also only require 5 exp after that
one battle to level up, so when she levels up being outside the party, due to
the mechanic described in section >-4.1-< a lot of exp disappears, it so turns
out this ‘exp saved’ is actually saved on Robo’s behalf, this won’t be the only
odd example, several smart re-arrangements later and abuse of the mechanics
lets you finish several levels lower then average. Also Marle isn’t affected at
all by this because the next time she absorbs exp will be from the R-Series
(while outside the party) which will make her level up either way.

Anyways now that I’ve officially bored you head back into the factory you may
head into the right elevator and safely grab the Robin Bow do NOT go for
anything else, do not enter the rooms off the conveyer belts as they lead to
nasty inescapable encounters. Head back up the elevator and down the left
elevator, SAVE.
Have Robo activate the computer and a few Acids & Alkalines will attack..
Which you can run away from, head back and SAVE AGAIN.
Head down and around, running from the encounters now don’t bother with the
chests and just activate the computer.

The following inescapable encounter WILL be 5 monsters, and will contain a
random no. of Acids and Alkalines.

You MUST encounter 5 Acids - or later exp shuffling will be RUINED (mainly due
to Lucca, this small exp change will cost 2 levels if anything other then 5
Acids encountered). Now if your using a SNES, if you encounter anything other
then 5 Acids, reset, SAVE AGAIN and try again, repeat, repeat & repeat until
you do get 5 Acids. If on an emulator.. Your in luck, save state AND game on
the save spot. Using the save game will change the battle ahead, if you don’t
get 5 Acids, open state, save normally, save state, try and encounter 5 Acids,
if unsuccessful repeat, every 5 failures, RUN up (don’t activate console) then
back, save again then repeat above step.

Reason for this is Acids give LESS exp then Alkalines, your chances of getting
this encounter are 1 in 32.. So this will probably take a lot of tries.. But
stick with it!

**********
Acids x5
Alkalines x0 (after a few resets)
165 Exp (will be 11 Exp more for ever Alkaline, which is unacceptable)
**********

Take 2 of them out, Let Crono & Marle die, Robo kills the other 3 - heal if
necessary.

After this pick up the Titan arm & Vest. Now take a break, cup of tea, watch
some footy especially if you were playing on a normal SNES, you deserve it and
next few battles will be pretty tedious. It took me 54 attempts to get this
battle by the way.

Now head through & up the lift, SAVE SAVE SAVE now head back to the Proto Dome.
Avoid that annoying encounter again and pick up Lucca & equip Marle with Hide
Cape, Tunic & Sight Scope. Equip Robo with your Worst Equipment and now.
Equip Lucca with your best equipment & the Speed Belt
And equip Crono with the best of what’s left with the Berserker.

A/N: The next battle is against the R-Series & can only be fought with 2
Characters (Crono & one other) and Robo cant fight because he gets beaten up
=(. So either Crono, Marle or Lucca can absorb this, and the girl left behind
will gain 75%.

Since we’re trying to keep MARLE & Crono at the lowest possible level, Lucca
must absorb this, meaning Marle will gain 75%.. Which WOULD level her up
twice..
But instead only levels her up once with 110 exp to spare due to mechanic
explained in >-4.1-< :D.

Now head back into the factory, SAVE then head straight for the switch, the
password is X A B Y, next to the door is the Plasma Gun, equip it right away
flip the switch and prepare for a tough fight.

**********
R-Series x6
480 Exp
150 Hp each
**********

Without the Berserker, this battle would be 10x harder, the Berserker HALFS the
damage Crono takes at the expense of control of Crono, but without the
Berserker the Robots can kill Crono in 3 Hits and they get initially 6 Attacks
‘turn’ because its hard to get a tonic in between. You need to be lucky to win
without the berserker.

Anyway let Crono do the attacking and Lucca do the healing, keep Crono alive
until he reaches the last 2 R-Series then don’t heal him - he should fall from
counterattacks, and Lucca should finish the 1 or 2 remaining R-Series by
herself (she does 45 damage with her gun), Make sure Lucca’s health is kept
high as the counterattacks get painful.

If Crono kills the last R-Series, you must reset as Crono MUST not gain any
Exp.. (just watch the amount of levels he gains if he does). Use a Mid Tonic if
required.

A/N: Yes I know, this strategy is pretty much a Carbon-Copy of Crinkles’ but I
have experimented and found it extremely difficult doing it any other way.

IF you got Crono Cyclone, then another strategy if too give Crono & Lucca..
Crono: Lode Sword, Iron Helm, Titan Vest, Power Glove
Lucca: Plasma Gun, Iron/Hide Helm, Titan vest, Speed Belt

3 Cyclones on each line of 3 will be enough to kill them, Lucca RELENTLESSLY
heals Crono and Crono will use Cyclone (targetting the centre R-Series').

Personally I used 3 Cyclones on the Front & 1 on Back Row (thats all 8 of
Crono's MP). I used 1 Tonic on Crono with Lucca after which lucca used a Mid
Tonic onherself and killed the Back line with 2 shots each, all the
while healing herself with Tonics.
After this battle Lucca will level up TWICE again and Marle who is currently at
Proto Dome will have levelled up to level 4 (with 110 exp to spare).

After dragging Robo back to the Proto Dome, after the following scenes you’ll
arrive at the End of Time.

**>-9-<***
End of Time & 1000 AD - Medina
**********

After all this your levels should be

Crono: Level 1 *
Marle: Level 4 *
Lucca: level 8
Robo : Level 10

*Means this is the Characters final level

Now speak to Gaspar, and learn to use magic, make sure all the characters learn
their dual techs (fight Spekkio with Marle & Lucca then Lucca & Robo then Robo
& Marle) - quite a few of these will come in useful later. Now have Crono,
Marle & Robo in your party.

Now before you go straight to 1000 AD, take the 65000000 BC gate, exit Mystic
Mountain (grabbing a 2nd Berserker on the way) and enter the Dactyl Nest. Run
from every encounter as usual and here you can grab a Mid Ether but also more
importantly an early Meso Mail :). Return to the gate and head down the gate
to Medina Village.

When you arrive here you should head into the Elders House and grab a SPEED TAB
off the kitchen table, this is VERY useful, go upstairs and you can also grab a
Magic Tab.
Head back out and speak to Melchoir, from him buy until you have 99 Tonics
(simply because they’re cheap) & 20 Mid Tonics (because they’re not cheap, but
required).
I SERIOUSLY doubt you’ll have enough for the Red Katana, neither are any of the
weapons worth buying. head out and straight into Heckran and Straight into
another inescapable encounter.

**********
Hench x2
22 Exp
**********

Wait for Crono & Marle to be killed, finish with Robo.

Head through the cave, run from every battle. Grab the Ether x2, Mid Ether and
MAGICSCARF (useful).
Now at the save point you must do the following.
Swap Robo for Lucca to have a party of Crono, Marle & Lucca.

Equip them:

Lucca: Iron Helm, Meso Mail & Speed Belt
Marle: Iron Helm, Titan Vest & magic Scarf
Crono: Anything

If your using an emulator grab a piece of paper to monitor the next bosses Hp.
Now SAVE & Shelter.

**********
Heckran
250 Exp
2100 Hp
**********

The following will be a tough fight with Heckran, physical attacks do nothing.

Heckran starts out with an attack pattern

Bubble (40-45 damage)
Bubble (40-45 damage)
Cyclone (80 Damage to Marle, 95-100 To Lucca)
Counter Attacking rest (a few turns worth)
Repeat

This basically means make sure Marle’s Hp is full, Lucca’s is above 90 before
Cyclone - use a Mid-Tonic is necessary, have them attack with dual Tech
Antipode if you have both turns together or their individual magic spells (Fire
& Ice) if one has to heal.
When he enters his Counter-Attack phase heal up to max with Tonics.

Before long he’ll enter a VERY deadly cycle

Cyclone (80 Damage to Marle, 95-100 To Lucca)
Cyclone (80 Damage to Marle, 95-100 To Lucca)
Yes Indeed! Attack (75-77 to Marle 67-70 Lucca)

As you can see above, Lucca is Level 8... And has 153 Hp, and 8 Speed - meaning
she CANNOT survive 2 attacks in a row even a Cyclone + Yes Indeed! with your
early Meso Mail.

If Marle has some MP left carry out the following attack pattern

"Brief Counter-Attack Break"
Have Marle Immediately use Ice, keep Lucca’s turn ready, don’t do anything with
it.
Cyclone 1
If it hits Marle, have Lucca Immediately use a Mid-Tonic on her, if it hits
Lucca, immediately have her use a normal Tonic on herself.
Cyclone 2
You should get Marle’s turn now, if this Cyclone hit Lucca and hit Her before
as well, use a Mid-Tonic, if not use a Normal Tonic. If it hits Marle Use a
Mid-Tonic.
Yes Indeed!
If you manage it, you may just be able to squeeze a Fire in here
"Go Ahead Try & Attack"

After Marle is out of MP, unfortunatly Heckran is TOO FAST for Lucca to handle
1 vs. 1, so you must repeat the above attack pattern with Lucca replacing
Marle & Marle replacing Lucca. The only difference is Marle will not get an
attack in, just have her heal with a Tonic.

I am pretty sure that Heckran will fall after (Crono doesn't attack with
Lightning) Luca & Marle have both exhaused their MP & Lucca is Ethered once
and Lucca attacks with Fire once more.. MAKE SURE MARLE IS K.O'd or she'll gain
unnecessary Exp.

In other words 14 Fires & 9 Ice's are enough (Antipode does same damage as
Ice+Fire). You can probably get by without an Ether if Crono lands 4
Lightnings.

Jump into the water and you’ll end up near enough where you began the
challenge. Now you should go into Lucca’s house, go upstairs and wait for Taban
to talk to Lara and leave, follow him out and meet him downstairs, he’ll give
you a Taban Vest for Lucca.
This vest not only gives her 50% extra resistance to Fire attacks, but also
boosts her speed by 2 as well. Unfortunately this isn’t much use in a LLG but
its still something.

Anyways head into the Market and collect your 10 Mid Ethers off Fritz for
saving him. Don’t buy anything as of yet. Jump into the gate at Leene Sq.

**>-10-<***
600 AD - Zenan Bridge + Denadoro Mtns
***********

At the market in 600 AD, get 10 Revives and buy as many Mid-Tonics as you
can afford without selling anything off.

After the previous sections your characters should be at the following levels

Crono: Level 1 *
Marle: Level 4 *
Lucca: level 8 (with 5 Exp required for next level)
Robo : Level 11

*Means this is the Characters final level

Head to Zenan Bridge, talk to the people there then head to the castle, yes
pick up another shelter, collect your Jerky & Power Tab, head to the bridge
again and SAVE.

On this bridge are a Series of 3 fights, who fights in these will be fairly
important.

Enter Zenan bridge and talk to the Commander, then talk to him again for a Gold
Helm.

Have in your party Lucca, Marle & Crono

**********
Deceased x2 - 106 exp
**********

Wait until Crono and LUCCA are knocked out (heal Marle when necessary, now have
Marle ATTACK OZZIE 3x, this will break his spell and end the fight.
Marle absorbs all 106 Exp, which will not Level her up.

A/N: Thanks CyberSarkany for telling me this strategy :).

Switch Robo in for Lucca so you have a party of Crono, Marle & Robo - the next
inescapable battle is a also easy.

**********
Deceased x3 - 144 Exp
**********

Use the previous strategy again, let Marle & Crono die and Robo attack Ozzie
3x to break his spell.

Leave the bridge, SAVE and use a shelter.
Set up your characters accordingly.

Crono: Iron Helm, Titan Vest, Power Glove, Best Weapon you have
Marle: Iron Helm, Titan Vest, Best Weap
Robo : Gold Helm, Meso mail, Speed Belt, Best Weap

**********
Zombor
Top - 1000
Bottom - 800
350 Exp
**********

This battle isn’t very difficult.
Have Crono attack or use Cyclone on top
Marle use Ice on top
Robo use Rocket punch on top

The top should fall before it gets a chance to use its Doom, Doom, Doom attack
(if it does don’t bother reviving or healing, just keep attacking top with Robo
(the other 2 should die), don’t bother healing/reviving fallen characters, heal
Robo with a Mid Ether if MP busted.

Blitz the bottom until it says 'Doom Doom Doom Doom'
Now try to get Crono or Marle with more Hp with Robo if that’s possible,
because this attack will target the person with the highest Hp, and absorb ALL
his/her Hp, if Crono or Marle are killed, don’t bother reviving them and keep
attacking. Heal Robo only if he cant survive another one of his attacks (which
doesn't do more then 50 damage).

Keep an eye on the bottom’s Hp, he shouldn’t be difficult, when the bottom’s
about to fall let Crono & Marle if they’re alive to die and let Robo finish
with 1 or 2 Rocket Punches, Robo will absorb all 350 exp.

Now you have access to the bottom half of your continent of 600 AD, rest at inn
and save up but I DON’T advise you heal anyone other then Robo. Now go max out
on Mid Tonics.. Buy as many as you can afford.

Head into Cursed Woods, grab the Mid Tonic, Shelter and your 2nd Magic Scarf,
talk to Frog then leave.
Switch Robo with Lucca and enter Denadoro Mtns.

When you enter make sure Crono & Marle are K.O’d by the first non-inescapable
encounter in there (so they can easily be K.O’d by an inescapable encounter
further up easily), run from the battle, now MAKE SURE MARLE IS IN SLOT 2 OF
THE PARTY WITH LUCCA IN SLOT 3.

Grab the 300G and continue up towards the ladder and you’ll enter 2 inescapable
battles.

**********
Goblin
32 Exp
**********

This forced encounter is probably by far the weakest encounter you’ll ever
meet.. Because he struggles to kill your hardly-levelled characters even
standing still for 10 mins..
Reason being is that he gets ‘clogged up’ and attacks the left 2 characters a
few times before stopping completely, so make sure Crono & Marle are in the
left spot, wait for them to be killed then hit the Goblin twice with Lucca to
kill, (she’ll absorb all the exp), after you’ll be knocked into another
inescapable battle.

**********
Ogan
32 Exp
**********

Ogan should kill off Crono & Marle with ease, after he does use Fire on him and
attack him twice. Now if your using a SNES system do the following:

Go kitchen & grab yourself a cup of tea (for real)
Go outside AND SAVE.

Now head through, running from every encounter, grab the Revive and 500 G.

A/N: I have gone through the following section in explicit detail for those
with normal SNES systems, the reason being is that there are several
inescapable but avoidable encounters coming up, some are very easy to avoid
while others are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, and because the next save spot is quite
deep within, if you make a mistake you need to come all the way back to the
start.

When you meet the Ogan (with the Wooden Hammer) that jumps out & back
repetitively, run up the ladder, then the next ladder then there should be a
turning to the right to reach the next screen.

On this screen there are no inescapable encounters, grab the Revive, Mid Ether,
Gold Helm & Mid Tonic and head left onto your next screen.

This screen also has no inescapable encounters, just a rock throwing monster &
a chest with a Mid Ether, head up and right onto your next screen.

Now WALK and hug the top wall until you meet the ladder to avoid an inescapable
encounter with a Free Lancer & Ogan. Head up the ladder (WALKING DON’T RUN ON
THIS SCREEN) and hus the right wall, grab the chest with 600 G, hug the wall on
your left down then up to the next path then head up into your next screen.

You should be on a cliff-edge field, hug the outmost edge, as you can sometimes
hit an inescapable encounter here. Thanks CyberScarkey for identifying this.

Here you should be near a waterfall, here fall down the LEFT waterfall and grab
the Silver Stud & Silver Enrg (both VERY VERY VERY useful).

Head up to reach the next screen, then up again to reach the cliff again, head
left onto the waterfall again. Now head left past the Free Lancer to grab the
chest.
Now as you go down ladder, hug the left wall (walking of course) to avoid the
inescapable battle with 2 Free Lancers, and to get to your next screen.

Hug the bottom wall to the bridge to avoid the inescapable battle with 3
Bellbirds, once on the bridge you may safely talk to the White Monkey
repetitively for a Magic Tab, head down to your next screen.

Head down and hold off saving for a sec, grab the chest and bash A in the very
bottom left of the screen for a SPEED TAB! There is only a finite number of
these and you should have 2 by now.
Head back up and save, if your playing on a SNES then if your cup of tea is
empty, make another 1... Because your probably going to need it.

Head onto the next screen, just to the top right should be a Chect wth a Gold
Suit in it jump down the ladder and walk very calmly, don’t bother with the
chest if on a SNES please.. Its only a Shelter..

A/N: Credit for Cyber for finding the Gold Suit, although it's inferior to
the Meso mail, it sells for decent G.

Now on this screen is an inescapable encounter with 3 Ogans and a Free Lancer,
the Ogans initiate the battle by touching them and the Freelancer initiates it
by running down and knocking you off the ladder into the battle.

The idea here is the Free lancer moves up & down, next to and far from the
ladder, you need to reach the top of the ladder while the Free Lancer is far
away so he runs off and jumps over (hence avoiding he battle).

Now get as CLOSE as you possibly can to the top of the ladder without the Free
lancer knocking you (will take maybe 1 or 2 resets to get a feel).

Now the Free Lancer is moving up & down, hold B down and as soon as you see the
Free Lancer reach the TOP of his up and down movement, sprint forward - with a
little luck the Free Lancer will jump across… effectively avoiding the battle -
this will take a few tries unless lucky, shouldn't take more then 10.

A/N: I think I went into way too much depth over Denadoro Mtns.. But the work
is done now and hey I’m not getting paid for this FAQ =P.

Now you should enter the Chamber with Masa & Mune inside, switch Robo in for
Lucca and equip your characters as accordingly.

Robo : Gold Helm, Meso Mail, Speed Belt
Crono: Doesn’t Matter
Marle: Doesn’t Matter

**********
Masa
Mune
400 Exp
1000 Hp each
**********
Just normally attack the one with a Purple collar (one on the left, attacking
the one on the right results in the X-Strike counter attack), let Crono & Marle
get K.O’d but you shouldn’t need to heal for this, but by all means heal if you
need to, after Masa & Mune will fuse and you’ll have to right..
A/N Robo & Lucca will both level up after this fight (Lucca is outside the
party) and you only need to deplete all of the Purple collar’s health to end
this battle.

**********
Masa & Mune (fused)
500 Exp
3500 Hp
**********

Crono & Marle should quickly be killed off and it’ll boil down to Robo vs. Masa
& Mune, 265 Hp vs. 3500 Hp.. But we got items! Hehe.

Masa & Mune’s initial attack pattern is

Attack (33 - 36 Damage)
Attack (33 - 36 Damage)
Wind (65 - 70 Damage)
Store Tornado Energy (with slash counterattack)
Tornado (165 Damage)
Repeat

I personally attack with Rocket punch and used a Mid Tonic when he starts to
gather Tornado energy and a Mid Tonic after, rinse & repeat.

After a certain amount of damage Masa & Mune’s attack pattern changes:

Attack (70 - 76 Damage)
Attack (70 - 76 Damage)
Store Tornado Energy
Tornado (165 Damage)

This is easier then the last, here’s what I did

Tornado (Robo has 100 Hp left)
Robo immediately Rocket punch
Masa & Mune Attacks
Robo uses Mid Tonic
Masa & Mune attacks Again
Robo uses Rocket punch
Masa & Mune stores energy
Robo uses a Cure Beam
Repeat.

Masa & Mune will eventually fall and Robo will absorb all 500 Exp.

After this battle you should have the following levels

Crono: Level 1 *
Marle: Level 4 *
Lucca: level 10
Robo : Level 12

*Means this is the Characters final level

Ride the wind out and save your game.

Now proceed thourgh normally, obtaining the other piece talking to Tata etc..

Now go jump into the gate, go to Melchoir in 1000 AD now return to the end of
time and save again.

Before you jump in make sure you have the following:
Crono, Marle & Robo in party
10 Revives
10- 20 Mid Tonics (if you have only 10ish and cant afford anymore, do not
worry, buy some regular tonics and that should get you by, otherwise sell some
old equipment (Lode bow is a good place to start)).

**>-11-<***
65000000 BC - Reptite Lair
***********

A/N: Before u jump in it might be worth mentioning the next inescapable battle
will net you exactly 360 exp, meaning Lucca (outside your party) will net 270
exp. If you’ve followed my instruction on who should fight what fight exactly,
Lucca right now will require 275 Exp for level up, the next battle is not
enough to gain her a level, meaning the next lot of exp that she gets hit with
will almost completely disappear (because she can only gain the 5 exp for the
next level).

You fall straight into a forced battle.

**********
Reptite x5
360 Exp
**********

Let Crono & Marle get K.O’d.. if you didn’t heal from Masa & Mune this shan’t
take long at all, have Robo finish them with a single Laser Spin - heal if
necessary & yes Robo should level up after this. Afterwards you’ll see your
best character for a long while; Ayla.
After Ayla clears a few Reptites you’ll be hit with yet another inescapable
encounter.

**********
Reptite x 4
288 Exp
**********

Again let Crono & Marle get killed off, then slaughter the Reptites with a
single Laser Spin.

Head out and after the following scenes including meeting Ayla & the party you
should have your precious gate Key stolen, choose to leave behind Robo, Taking
with you Crono, Marle & Ayla (Level 18) and head to the forest maze.

After the scene with Kino just make your way through, the items in the chests
are helpful so try to get them all. None of the encounters here are inescapable
so you can safely go through to the other end without worrying about your
levels. Make sure before you leave you kill off Crono & Marle in a random
battle then run so that they can easily be killed off by the next set of
inescapable battles. Save outside before entering the Reptite Lair.

After entering the Reptite Lair, before long you’ll enter a room with a few
Evilweevils (inescapable.. Just don’t touch them), wait a few seconds and each
Evilweevil will dig a hole, you must use one of these holes to reach
downstairs, each hole forces you into a different set of inescapable
encounters.

You should see 5 Holes spaced like this after a few seconds.

###1######
##########
2#########
####4#####
#########5
##3#######

Note* there will be some randomness to the positioning, and if you should meet
the wrong set of monsters, try again

Hole 1 gives you
Evilweevil x2 - 162 Exp and
Megasaur x1 (830 Hp) - 147 Exp

No treasure - 309 Exp total

Hole 2 gives you
Evilweevil x2 - 162 Exp and
Megasaur x1 (830 Hp) - 147 Exp

No treasure - 309 Exp total (basically the same as hole 1)

Hole 3 gives you
Fly Trap + Evilweevil - 167 Exp and
Fly Trap + Evilweevil - 167 Exp

There is a Mid Ether & Mid Tonic in the chests, total of 334 Exp.

Hole 4 gives you
Evilweevil x2 - 162 Exp and
Megasaur x1 (830 Hp) - 147 Exp

No treasure - 309 Exp total (basically the same as hole 1)

Hole 5 gives you
Evilweevil x2 - 162 Exp and
Fly Trap + Evilweevil x2 - 248 Exp

There is a Ruby Vest in the chest, total of 410 Exp.

Just take any of hole 1,2 or 4... The treasures are not worth the Exp for 3 &
5.

In the next room there are tonnes of Reptites (inescapable.. don’t touch them)
and also 2 chests, one with a Rock Helm and the other with a Full Ether (both
behind a Reptite), grab these and proceed through.

Run from the next few encounters and save & use a shelter at the save point.
Now equip Crono with the Rock Helm, Meso Mail and Silver Stud, equip Ayla with
the Bandana and the worst armours you have, after this battle Ayla will leave
(for quite a while) taking what you equipped on her with her.

As you enter the next room you’ll face Nizbel which is Easy and also has a NOT
SO EASY 2nd form (which you’ll face later).

**********
Nizbel
880 Exp
4200 Hp
**********

Basically fight him how you would in a normal game, except Nizbel’s
electrocution attack will kill Crono and hurt Ayla. Have Crono use Lightning
and have Ayla attack non-stop, have Crono heal Ayla so she has at least 200 Hp
before Nizbel’s electrocution attack (Tonics/Mid Tonics).
With the Rock Helm & Meso Mail Crono should easily survive the Earthquake,
although the normal attack will kill Crono - revive him again if this happens
before Crono’s Lightning.
After the electrocution attack revive Crono & repeat.
However when Nizbel is close to falling use Ayla to finish him off with normal
attacks without reviving Crono, Ayla’s normal attacks are incredibly weak on
Nizbel’s defence (you’ll be lucky to exceed 10 damage) without Lightning so you
must make sure he’s very close to death otherwise you’ll waste a lot of
Mid-Tonics unnecessarily.

I personally used 7 Revives & 9 Mid Tonics and a few normal Tonics.

**>-12-<***
600 AD - Magus’s Castle
***********

After you defeat Nizbel head straight to Medina Village and get your Masamune
repaired by Melchoir. Also I don’t see why you don’t go and pick up the Taban
Helm from Taban for Lucca.

Now your DEFINITLY going to need about 80 Mid-Tonics for Magus’s Castle, inside
are 3 bosses, Magus, Slash & Flea and several inescapable encounters, to top it
off you need about 20 Revives.

Head over to 600 AD and collect Frog (Level 11), now before you go to Magic
Cave, go to the End of Time and MAKE SURE FROG LEARNS HOW TO USE MAGIC, and
make sure Frog & Marle learn their dual Tech Ice Water.

Following tip from Xuxon:

Now it MIGHT be worth going to the Market in 1000 AD - Medina Village - fight
the forced battle to open up the shop. If you choose to do this you can get an
early Demon Hit for Crono (1.5x Damage on magical Enemies I.E Magus) but this
sword costs 65000 G and I doubt you even have half that do I advise you ignore
this until later (I never managed to get both Crono & Marle killed off anyway).

Now make sure the following checklist is done:
Frog, Crono & Marle in party
80 Mid Tonics
20 Revives
15 Heals (For Magus & Flea)

Personally I had:
97 Mid Tonics
15 Revives
20 Heals
No G left lol

If you find you cant afford then just sell off equipment (starting with old
weapons) then moving onto selling Helms, don’t sell any body armour.
If you still cant make the mark then just continue on anyway. As soon as you
reach the point where you NEED more M-Tonics then just head back & buy some
with the cash from the battles you have just fought. I had a full ether here
which I sold for 3000 G, since Mid Ethers pretty much = Full Ethers in a LLG.

Enter Magic Cave then save outside Magus’s Lair, use a shelter if your low.
Head up to Slash’s area, then Flea’s then back and step on the ‘save point’
which will initiate a few scenes followed by an inescapable encounter.

**********
Hench x4 + Vamp x2

You should know what to do, Crono & Marle dies & Frog lives. However make sure
you take out a few enemies before letting them die because the 6 enemies can
easily overwhelm a lone Frog.

First head down the left passage head past the monsters and talk to the group
of 5 people.. Which will knock you into yet another inescapable encounter.

Marle dies, Crono dies, Frog lives.. Anything else?

Now do NOT talk to Slash, head out of the Lair and SAVE & use a Shelter
outside.

Now head down the RIGHT corridor and talk to the children around the chest, run
from this encounter and collect the Barrier from the chest. I repeat, COLLECT
THE BARRIER FROM THE CHEST. You will NOT and I repeat again, NOT be able to
beat Magus without it.

Carry on down the right corridor and before you talk to ‘Flea’ set up your
characters as follows:

Crono: Best Weap (I had Lode Sword), Powerglove
Frog : Masamune, Ruby Vest, Rock Helm, Speed belt
Marle: Magic Scarf
Stuff unmentioned doesn’t matter BTW

Flea is REALLY weak compared to the other bosses you have encounters.. he
doesn’t do over 60 damage so my advise is just Slurp Cut & Mid-Tonic away, use
a heal when blinded/poisoned and a Mid Ether when out of MP. On Crono & Marle’s
part, Crono attacks till he dies & Marle Ice’s till she dies. Frog faces off
against Flea alone eventually.. And eventually he will fall, leaving Frog to
collect the 500 exp (and a level).

Collect the Magic Tab that’s dropped and head back out of the lair. Use another
shelter, SAVE, then head back in, taking the left path towards Slash.. Which is
a long and painful fight.

Before talking to Slash equip yourself as follows:
Frog : Masamune, Rock Helm, Meso Mail, SilverEnrg
Marle: Best Weap, Rock Helm, Ruby Vest, Ribbon
Crono: Best Weap & Armour of what you got left & a Speed Belt.

As you may have guessed - this is going to be another 1 vs. 1 encounter with
Boss vs. Frog. Simply because it isn’t worth Reviving Crono or Marle because
they’re so weak.

Slash has 4 Attack patterns, of increasing difficulty, unless you know what
your doing Slash will slaughter Frog.

**********
Slash
500 exp
5200 Hp
**********

Open the battle by just attacking with everyone (Use Slurp cut with Frog),
Slash does little damage to your characters (because he has no sword he will
however take out Crono in one hit), if Crono or Marle dies do not bother
reviving them. If Frog exhausts his MP use a Mid Ether, you should have a
decent stock of these (I had 20) which will easily last you till you can
actually buy them (and hence they are no longer in finite supply). Slurp Cut
(185 Damage) & Mid Tonic Frog, Slash will soon change attack patterns.

Now Slash will eventually counter-attack with a Fire 2 spell (65 damage to
Frog) signalling the start to his 2nd Phase of attack. He will grab his sword
and start attacking with Slash (75 Damage to Frog) (Crono & Marle will be
revived but soon killed - try to get one of them to Mid-Tonic Frog). Just keep
Slurp Cutting & Healing away, after about 10 hits in this phase be careful of
Frog’s Hp as Slash gives no indication of his 3rd Phase.

In Slash’s 3rd phase Slash will use
Leap Slash (120-135 Damage),
'Yes Indeed!' attack (100-110 Damage),
Regular Attack (60-70 Damage)
Slash (75 Damage)

Also worth noting Slash’s speed almost DOUBLES as well (meaning he CAN and WILL
get 2 turns per 1 of Frog‘s.. sometimes).. But the good news is he DOES use a
set pattern.

Slash
Normal Attack
Leap Slash ***
Leap Slash
'Yes Indeed!' Attack
Slash
Leap Slash
Normal Attack

There seems to be a longer delay between 2 competitive Leap Slashes, so is Frog
is at Full Hp (270 Hp) he can get away with attacking in between 2 Leap
Slashes. I think you should be able to settle into your own attacking style for
him, just keep in mine he CAN get 2 turns per 1 of yours (namely a Leap Slash +
'Yes indeed!') combo which if at less then 220 Hp will kill you if you can’t
get a turn in between. Just Slurp Cut away & Heal with Mid Tonics (you’ll use a
LOT of them) and a Mid Ether to recover Mp but beware..

He DOES have a 4th phase. When you think your close to his last 800 Hp, MAKE
SURE FROG IS NEARLY/ AT FULL HEALTH, because in this Phase Slash has the same
attack pattern as above except he counter-attacks with 'Yes Indeed!' Attack,
using it in the part of his pattern where leap Slash & 'Yes Indeed!'s are is
just asking for trouble. Now just focus on staying high Hp and attacking when
he’s in the Normal attack -> Slash -> Normal Attack part of his attack pattern,
because here damage mounts up slowest, you should be able to heal up fast
enough to survive the counterattack. 4 or 5 Slurp-Cut’s from the start of this
phase is enough to finish this fight (phew!).

For those REALLY having trouble, another good spot to attack in his 4th phase
would be JUST after the Leap Slash above marked with the *** next to it (make
sure Frog is at full Hp), after his counter Frog should have about 40 Hp
remaining, and because of the delay between Slash’s 2 Leap Slashes - Frog
SHOULD be able to get a Mid Tonic in before the 2nd Leap Slash with time to
spare.

A/N: I can’t believe I spent three quarters of a page on ONE boss.. I hope
Lavos will be easier to walk through.

GRAB THE SLASHER SWORD AFTER HE DIES! This sword is absolutely brilliant
because it gives Crono a 2 Speed Bonus (like a Speed Belt) without need for
using the accessory slot - meaning Crono can have ** Speed right off the bat
(Slasher + Speed belt), this speed bonus without relic slot use makes a few
later bosses MUCH easier. The Slasher also has decent attack strength although
it pales in comparison to the Frog & Ayla.

You most likely used about 40 Mid-Tonics about now, if you have less then 50
remaining, I suggest you go buy till you have 60, though 50 should be enough
for Magus and the next few monsters.

Use a Shelter & SAVE at the save point, now head back and onto the ‘Save Point’
near the entrance & be teleported to a new hallway.

A/N: If on a SNES, go OUTSIDE and SAVE.

Run through and run from every encounter. Grab the Mist Robe and MAKE SURE YOU
GET THE DARK MAIL. Try not to get hit by the anvils. Head up and grab the Doom
finger & head through... If your on a SNES.. The next room contains lots of
monsters.. All avoidable but inescapable. The only ‘triggers’ in this room are
being hit by a Green Rollie, just use the ladders to avoid these head through
onto the next room.

Now you enter a room.. Where Ozzie will drop you through the floor if you step
wrong.

NORMALLY in a LLG we would reset & reset & reset (or follow a map drawn by moi)
so we make it through to Ozzie in one go to avoid being dropped down the hold
(being dropped leads to an inescapable encounter with 6 Decendants) but...down
that area Ozzie drops you are 3 very useful and 1 MANDENTORY item.

From least to most important

1 Lapis (can be used in the boundary between 1st & 2nd phase of Magus’s attack
patterns)
1 Magic Tab
Save Point for SNES players - there are some VERY difficult to avoid encounters
coming.
DO NOT USE A SHELTER AT THE SAVE POINT, HEAL FROG ONLY WITH TONICS.
1 Barrier!!!

This 2nd Barrier is ABSOLUTELY MANDENTORY to defeating Magus with such a poorly
levelled Frog.

Anyways grab everything there is down there, RUN from the ‘Save points’ and
SAVE at the REAL one (if hit the teleport one, repeat till you find it.

Oh and yes

**********
Decendant x6
72 exp
**********

Crono & Marle dies - Frog lives and absorbs the 72 exp.

This exp will not affect the final levels so please don’t worry about gaining
this unforced exp.

After you have done all that head up and around to Ozzie then up to the next
room.

In this room are loads of inescapable but avoidable encounters.. And will take
several tries on a SNES.

There are 2 triggers

Touching (or nearly touching) an Outlaw
Touching a Grey Rollie.

I will guide you through the Outlaws 1 at a time, for the Rollies just avoid
them by
1. Going to the ‘corners’ at the end of the stairs

Like this

This is a 2d diagram looking at the side, stand at 1 and you should be fine.

Now for the first Outlaw, this outlaw is moving towards you, so RUN towards him
hugging (hold Up & Left buttons) the top wall, as soon as you reach the stairs
RELEASE the left button and run up (effectively ‘squeezing’ between the Outlaw
& Stairs.

A Rollie should be coming down the stairs so go LEFT rather right (past the
outlaw on the top edge, wait for the Rollie to pass and continue up).

Here’s a diagram

F~~~~~~~~~

#######O#~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EEEEEE
                 ########~~~~~~~~~~
                 ##################

EEEEEE = Entrance
0 = Outlaw
~ = Route to take.
F = Finish point (to wait for Rollie to pass).

The next Outlaw is the save as the first, hug the top edge but MAKE SURE WHEN
YOU REACH THE END OF THE STAIRS YOU STOP PRESSING RIGHT. Do that you’ll avoid
the 2nd Outlaw.

The Third Outlaw is easier he’s walking towards you like the first was but not
we have ladders underneath the bit he walks across, although the Outlaw might
SEEM to be following CRONO, he is ACTUALLY following the 3rd person in your
party (Marle) because she’s following Frog who’s Following Crono in the
standard ‘walking trio’.

Now we can abuse this, walk into the ladder with Crono then walk up off the
ladder but stand just above it. The Outlaw will inch his way towards Crono
(go back onto the ladder when a Rollie goes past). When the Outlaw is
uncomfortable close have Crono walk to the right, BUT NOT far enough so that
Marle who’s at the back of the Trio will also walk off the ladder. Walk to the
right just far enough so Marle is the only person on the ladder, now the Outlaw
will walk onto the ladder and down it to follow Marle.. You can now safely
by-pass the Outlaw.

############O##F##C#####
              M
O = Outlaw
F = frog
C = Crono
M = Marle.

The 4th and final Outlaw is the easiest to bypass, just hold UP to climb the
stairs and you’ll walk right past him, you don’t even have to run.

After that give yourself a pat on the back.

In the next room are 2 inescapable encounters.

Have everyone attack the Groupies and kill them first, then let Crono & Marle
die. Use Mid Tonics if necessary.. If you conserve you run the risk of dying..
If you die using a SNES, then you have to repeat the previous screen, if you
have to repeat the previous screen the less you’ll enjoy the challenge. Have
Frog finish the Outlaws alone & will grow to level 13.

The SECOND set of monsters are ESCAPABLE, FINALLY some good news =)

The Third set however, aren’t, EQUIP FROG WITH THE RUBY VEST AND SILVER STUD.

Juggler x4

Crono & Marle uses Magic on the Jugglers, Frog uses Slurp Cut on the one’s
who’s defence mode is MAGIC (from Crono & Marle’s magic). Crono & Marle will
eventually get KO’d, in which case have Frog to the Magicing & Attacking. Frog
will absorb all the exp. The Ruby Vest halves the damage you take form their
Fire attack, making them much more manageable. Frog absorbs all 512 exp.

Head up & grab a second Speed Belt, head up & run from every encounter, now you
face Ozzie.

Attack the chain’s as normal.. don’t worry this battle gives no exp so no
worries about Crono & Marle being killed off.

Grab a 2nd Mist Robe & a 3rd MagicScarf in this room, SAVE and use a Shelter.
Now you must face Magus, first however you must know a bit about him to defeat
him. READ THE DATA BELOW BEFORE GOING TO MAGUS.

Magus’s Info

This is one of the biggest obstacles in a LLG, up there with Nizbel II, Lavos,
The Avoidable Inescapable Encounters just before Nizbel II.

As you probably guessed, this battle is mainly going to be Frog vs. Magus 1 vs.
1, as it’s a waste of time reviving Crono or Marle because they’re so weak...
Almost..

During Magus’s first phase (when Magus has more then 4480 Hp) Magus alternates
between 2 attacks.
Geyser / Hp Down, 35-40 damage & Gives Hp Down status to all
Normal Attack, 65-70 Damage

He also counter attacks every Magic spell or every 2nd Physical attack with a
random Element attack and changes his elemental weakness to that element.

Shadow (150-160 Damage to Frog)
Lightning 2 (110-120 Damage to Frog)
Ice 2 ( 90-95 Damage to Frog)
Fire 2 (110-120 Damage to Frog)

The deadliest combo is a Shadow Counter Attack with a Normal Attack, which can
do 230 damage to Frog)

Basically what you need to do is keep attacking him normally (and also keeping
yourself up with Mid Tonics) until he changes his weakness to WATER, then
attack him once normally to lower his defence then use Water (240 Damage) on
him.

After a few repeats 1 of 2 things will happen.

1. You will run out of Mid Tonics simply because magus don’t like changing his
weakness to Water
2. He’ll change to his second & extremely deadly phase.

Hopefully when you have Magus at about 4480 Hp Magus is in his WATER phase
and you have at least 5 Mid Tonics (Wdf?! 5 to last you over 4480 Hp?! Your
thinking.. I’ll explain of course).

Magus’s second phase is simple but effective.. He only uses 2 ‘attacks’

'Magus Risks casting a spell!'

And last but DEFINITLY not least.

DARK MATTER (305 Damage to Frog with Dark Mail on).

Now wait a second... Dark Matter does 305 damage.. But Frog has... 287 Hp with
the SilverEnrg. 305, 287, 305, 287.

Basically in one line, you can’t survive a single Dark Matter with Frog, this
attack will kill Frog in a single hit.

Now what are we going to do.. Well the GOOD news is.. Frog CAN survive Dark
Matter, remember those 2 Barrier’s you picked up in the castle? One of them you
sacrificed 72 Exp for.. Well they’re going to become ESSENTUAL for this fight.

WITH a Barrier on Frog, Dark Matter does 200-205 Damage, which is healable with
a single Mid Tonic, however a Barrier only lasts so long in fact each Barrier
will only protect you from a maximum of 2 Dark Matters each. This means you can
only ever see 4 Dark Matters, the 5th Dark Matter WILL kill you no matter what.

****************Barrier Notes****************
**Full Credit goes to CyberSarkany for this**
*********************************************
He discovered that the Barrier's lifetime is based on TIME, according to game
clock and it NOT changed in proportion to the battle speed.

What this means is the barrier will last you say 60 seconds, and fixed at that,
so if you decrease the battle speed, you'd normally expect the Barrier's
lifetime to be extended as well. But it's not, it still lasts 60 seconds.
This means Magus is IMPOSSIBLE on the Slowest Game Speed setting (8). However
I imagine the fastest game speed may well allow you to survive 3 Dark Matters,
but will make it difficult to select turns quickly in phase 1.

I HIGHLY suggest you take a compromise of Game Speed 4 (normal speed). Adjust
it accordingly but basically the trade off is, the slower you set it, the
later you must delay putting the barrier up. The faster you set it, the harder
you'll find the first phase

Note: The following data was written before the Barrier-Bug was discovered -
I suggest you put your Game Speed on 4 so it's easier to follow the battle.
*********************************************
*********************************************

The biggest trouble here however (of course there was going to be more..). Is
the simple fact that from the beginning that in Magus’s second phase Frog can
get a maximum of about 26 turns between the start of Dark Matter 1 Phase and
the lethal 5th Dark Matter. However you MUST ALSO spent 2 turns putting up the
2 Barriers, 3 Turns using 3 Mid Tonics to heal after the Dark Matters and 1
turn Mid Ethering Frog. This leaves you with 20 Turns to attack Magus with
Slurp Cut before Frog gets hammered. Do the math, Slurp Cut gives you 155
damage a hit, do the math and you’ll see your about 1280 damage short, meaning
our key to victory lies within Crono & Marle.

End of Magus’s Info

Now for you, set up your characters as EXACTLY as follows.

Crono: Slasher, Rock Helm, Meso Mail, Speed Belt - Crono has ** Speed =)
Frog : Masamune, Rock Helm, Dark Mail, Speed Belt
Marle: Anything, Best Helm Left, Mist Robe, Magic Scarf

Frog does not need the SilverEnrg because it makes no difference, Dark Matter
is survivable with Barrier & 230 Hp and the Speed Belt IS necessary to get
moves off fast enough.

Now if you didn’t have your settings on Remember Battle Cursor - Y before,
change it so it does now..

1st Phase: Crono & Marle will get killed off quickly, with Frog just Attack
until his Barrier change is on Water, be wary on when you make your 2nd
attack’s (the one’s Magus counters with an elemental spell), so it preferably
just after being his by one of Magus’s 2 attacks from full Hp, that way you’ll
have enough time to Mid Tonic.

When Magus’s Weakness is on Water attack him once with the Masamune to lower
his M-Defence then use water on him.

Make sure if playing on a SNES you keep VERY CAREFUL COUNT on Magus’s Hp, if on
an Emulator use Save States, when Magus is on 4480-4680 Hp AND in his WATER
phase you must do the following.

Frog Revives Crono
Crono Revives Marle
Frog uses a Lapis (not necessary)
Crono uses a HEAL on Frog
Frog/Crono uses a Mid Ether on Frog
When Frog is at FULL Hp
Frog & Marle uses dual tech Ice Water (380 Damage) to knock him hard into his
2nd phase.

After the Dual tech Ice water Magus will NOT counter attack, now you must start
button bashing A.
Frog uses Slurp Cut repetitively
Marle keeps casting Ice
Crono will attack Magus normally UNTIL Magus nears his 1st Dark Matter.
Then have Crono use a BARRIER on Frog (make sure it’s close to the 1st Dark
Matter otherwise it’ll run out before the 2nd Dark Matter.

After the first Dark Matter Frog should have about 25 Hp left. INSTEAD of using
a Mid Tonic or attacking, QUICKLY revive Crono. Then do the following.
Frog resumes attacking Magus with Slurp Cut
Crono uses a Mid Tonic on Frog then attacks Magus himself (50 damage if he
hits).

After the 2nd Dark Matter should have about 20 Hp left, again revive Crono and
do the following.
Frog resumes attacking Magus with Slurp Cut
Crono uses a Mid Tonic on Frog, and attacks Magus himself.. When the 3rd Dark
Matter nears use your 2nd and final barrier on Frog

The 3rd Dark Matter will leave Frog with about 15 hp, quickly revive Crono
again.
Frog again attacks Magus with Slurp Cut
Crono uses a Mid Tonic on Frog & attacks Magus, as Frog nears the last of his
Mp Crono uses a Mid Ether on Frog (this must happen before the 4th Dark Matter)

After the 4th Dark Matter I had about 10 Hp left, now don’t revive Crono, don’t
even bother healing Frog, Slurp Cut away and if you selected your commands very
quickly during the 2nd phase Magus should fall 1-3 turns short of Dark Matter
5. Frog will absorb all 1800 exp and level up once.

You probably realised that reviving Crono saved Frog some turns, sacrificing
one turn in return for being healed, barriered, ethered and some attack support
- it’s barely enough to make it through but it’s enough non-the-less.

Anyways if you took about 10 tries beating this guy please take a break, if you
didn’t take a break anyway, the next and final part where you will be forced to
gain exp (and hence dodge encounters) is coming, and is FAR from
straightforward.

A/N: I need to make another playthrough of this to see for myself if it's
possible to defeat Magus without using Crono or Marle, but by using the game
speed set at 1 may make it too hard for some so it's unlikely a strategy will
be produced.

65000000 BC - Tyrano Lair
**********

Your levels as of now should be:
Crono: Level 1*
Marle: Level 4*
Lucca: Level 14
Frog : level 14
Robo : level 15
Ayla : Level 19

**>-13-<***
65000000 BC - Tyrano Lair
***********

You awaken in 65000000 BC, proceed through the following scenes until you
attain the Dactyl, now don’t go to the Tyrano Lair just yet. First thing of
course is to save but to head back to 600 AD, we need supplies.

A/N: May also be worth looking at Frog’s exp, you’ll see he requires only 6 Exp
to level up, so in the next fight (which is Nizbel II) he’ll only gain that
much exp, meaning he can go through to the final forced fight without levelling
up twice =).

Go to the market you MUST buy till you have about 80-90 Mid Tonics then buy
about 40-50 Revives. This is extremely expensive for a LLG (about 20000 G) but
it’s absolutely necessary, sell off your old weapons, ALL of them save the ones
which gives status effects, other stat bonuses (especially Slasher) and your
next weapons keep. Next move on to selling your old helmets before moving onto
armour. Sell your Full ether if you have one for 3000 G and other stuff you may
have which are of no use. Don’t your Ruby Vest though, after this fight you can
start earning money properly (almost) and the sold items are easily replaced.

Here’s basic minimum requirements for the next section.

70 Mid Tonics (HIGHLY ADVISE 80)
40 Revives - Get 50-60 trust me.
5 Ethers (you should definitely have these, Mid Ethers do the job too).
Serious patience if on a SNES

Head into Tyrano Lair, there are no unavoidable inescapable encounters here,
however avoiding these, especially on a SNES will be a doozey, and dodge you
MUST, because you will gain a total of 2 or even 3 levels overall if you fight
just one.

When your in the Tryano lair take the right passage, avoid the monsters in the
room btw. Head through and run from the reptites, release Kino. Follow Kino up
& around and into the left skull.

Step on both switches & head through the LEFT passage, hug the top wall
outside, the Reptites are easy to avoid (just don’t touch them) and up into the
next room. This room will consist of lots of teleporters.
Hug the LEFT wall & move up until you reach a one square long ‘bridge’. Cross
it and then hug the wall to your right & go straight up. Don’t bother
collecting the egg on the top wall, hug the top wall to the stairs and go down.

Now HUG THE TOP WALL TIGHTLY and you’ll avoid the random encounters here, STOP
HUGGING the top wall when you reach the door that’s sealed.
There is a path approximately ‘one square’ above the BOTTOM wall which is about
‘one square thick’ then you can take which allow you to evade the random
encounters.
Heres an attempted diagram

#### #G## ####

S = Starting position on screen
P= Path to take
XXXX = Grated door (DON’T TOUCH THIS YET)
TTTT = Target door
G = Running Point (read on..)

Inside the next room is no save point, press the RIGHT switch only and head up
and flick the switch in there, head out and follow the path you took. If on an
emulator, save state, if on a SNES, GO OUTSIDE and SAVE.

Now go to point G, line yourself so that HALF of Crono is in line of the front
of the pillar and half is in front of the opening. Now start with Crono facing
the door, hold B and DASH towards it, as you each the door Crono should ‘bump
off’ the corner of the pillar and run straight into Nizbel II (effectively
avoiding the normally forced encounter).

This may take several tries (and I REALLY do pity you SNES players) but you
should do it eventually, keep adjusting your line.

Luckily Nizbel II does not immediately initiate the battle, prepare your
Characters as follows.

Give BOTH the Speed Tabs you’ve obtained up to this point to Crono, give him
nothing else.
However IF you forgot one or both, give Crono the Speed Belt, you just in for a
more painfully tough fight.

Crono: Slasher, Doesn’t Matter, Doesn’t Matter, Speed Belt / Silverstud
Ayla : Rock Helm, Mist Robe, Speed Belt/Silverenrg.

The Silverenrg lets her survive more turns without healing, the Speed Belt lets
her have more turns. Personally I went with the SilverEnrg.

Now you must save & use a shelter, your in for one hell of a long-drawn fight.

**********
Nizbel II
880 Exp
6500 Hp
**********

You must face Nizbel, this will be your longest, most painstaking, most boring
and one of the most difficult bosses in this entire game. There are several
resons why Nizbel II is FAR tougher then Nizbel I.

Nizbel II’s attacks are generally much stronger then before, Crono can’t
survive his normal attack full stop and his Earthquake will ALWAYS kill Crono
after he’s freshly revived.

Nizbel II I’m pretty sure is in permanent HASTE mode as he always has turns
faster then your Crono who is at ** speed. He’ll often get 2 turns per one of
Aylas.

Nizbel II’s Lightning counter for every third Lightning is extremely painful.

One physical attack raises Nizbel’s defence by nearly as much as one Lightning
decreases it, and it’s VERY difficult to alternate one Lightning with one
Attack, if anything impossible because of Nizbel’s power, speed and his
lightning counter. Meaning Crono must do his 3 lightning’s before Ayla attacks
3x in a row.

He’s also got pain in the ass high Hp....

However you CAN win despite all this, remember all those Mid Tonics & revives
you bought? Most will be used here).

Nizbel II alternates between 2 attacks.
Earthquake (55 Damage to all, will always kill a freshly revived Crono)
Attack (70 damage to one, this attack will ALWAYS hit Ayla if Crono has been
revived just after earthquake).

And off course his Electricity counter, 180 damage to all.

Start off with Marle Icing Nizbel II, Crono Using Lightning and Ayla healing
herself & Crono with kisses.

Crono should be able to get 2, maybe even 3 Lightnings before being killed (and
hence an electric counter will come), make sure Ayla is at approx 300 Hp just
before this happens.
Now you must settle into an attack pattern
Nizbel will relentlessly attack you and Ayla’s Hp will reasonably quickly
whittle down, use Mid Tonic’s constantly. When Ayla has 150 Hp + and Nizbel has
JUST used earthquake, revive Crono. Nizbel will then hit Ayla with a physical
attack. Hit Nizbel II with a Lightning from Crono and have Ayla Mid Tonic
herself, Nizbel will kill Crono with earthquake shortly after.

Nizbel II's defence DOES start VERY HIGH. So to decrease it to it's bare
minimum. I suggest you do a set of 3 Lightnings WITHOUT ATTACKING HIM,then do
your 2 Lightning's, 3 Attacks, 1 Lightning then then repeat etc.
Ayla's first attack should ALWAYS be ~225 damage. If it's not then you need to
do a set of 3 lightnings with no attacks to lower it.

Basically follow the following attack pattern.

1.)
Revive Crono After EQ (AND HAS AT LEAST 150 HP
Nizbel Hits Ayla
Crono Lighting
Ayla Heals
Nizbel EQ (kills Crono)

Repeat ONCE

Then ..
2.)
Ayla Attacks 3x

Then repeat step 1.) but make sure Ayla has 200+ health (she can heal just
after Crono's Lighting and before electrocution).

Your basically doing sets of three’s. 2 Lightnings to soften up, 3 attacks
from Ayla (225 + 180 + 115) then one more Lightning to trigger Electocution
counter & soften up Nizbel II again, rinse & repeat.

It took me about 60 Mid Tonics and 40 Revives here

************
With the help of CyberSarkany I producted another strategy that allows you to
get by with fewer items.
Make sure Crono has enough defence so the Earthquake does less then 70 damage,
and make sure Ayla has the SILVERENRG.
************

Follow the following set

*.) Make sure Nizbel's defence is at a minimum by using 3 Lightnings on him
at the start, make sure you only revive Crono after Nizbel II uses his
earthquake.

1.) Ayla heals with Mid Tonics (NOT KISSES) until ~ 400 Hp (time them so
Ayla has a turn soon after Earthquake)

2.) Nizbel II uses Earthquake

3.) Ayla quickly revives Crono

4.)Nizbell II hits Ayla with regular attack - 70 Damage

5.) Crono uses Lightning

6.) Ayla heals Crono with a Kiss

7.) Nizbel II uses EQ (Crono survives & Ayla hurt ~50)

8.) Crono Uses Lightning again

9.) Ayla heals herself with Mid Tonic

10.) Nizbel II attacks Crono or Ayla.

11.) If it hits Ayla, Crono uses Mid Tonic on Ayla, if it Hits Crono then Ayla
heals herself

12.) With using Mid Tonics to keep Ayla's Hp respectable, Ayla gets in EXACTLY
3 attacks

13.) Ayla has ~400 Hp (just keep healing with Mid-Tonics)

14.) Nizbell II uses an EQ

15.) Ayla quickly revives Crono

16.) Nizbell II hits Ayla

17.) Crono uses Lightning and Ayla quickly uses Mid Tonic on Herself

18.) Nizbell II releases electrocution energy ~180 Damage to Ayla

19.) Ayla counterattacks ONCE & go back to step #1

This is still following the basic set...

EVENTUALLY Nizbel II will fall, SAVE UP.

Now you have a few more pain in the ass to avoid encounters coming up.
Once you reach the balcony hug the BOTTOM ledge until HALFWAY between the 2
doors. Then run up & hug the top ledge until you reach the middle of the big
balcony.
Now on the next part hug the BOTTOM edge of the balcony until your in line with
the door, then you can safely run upwards & inside the room.

For you poor SNES players here’s a diagram.

*S** XXXX TTTT

##### ###### #####
##### ###### #####

P = Path to take
XXXX = Grated Door
TTTT = Target Door
*S* = Start

Once you enter the room step on the top-most switch, Save up, Left Most Switch
then the Right to drop the monsters. Go inside the skull and grab the Full
ether & Flick the switch.
Now you must retrace your steps to the Middle Door (previously grated) and you
must take this path to get to the middle door. Align Crono so his body is in
line with the left half of the door (imagine the door is split into half, align
yourself with the left half) then run through.

Now you must face Azala & his Black Tyrano. The only alteration that should be
make is to give Marle the SilverStud and Ayla the Ruby Vest.

**********
Azala & Black Tyrano
1800 Exp (Ouch)
Azala - 2500 Hp
Black Tyrano - 10500 Hp 0_o
**********

This fight is actually a breather compared to your previous fight, and so it
should be.
On one note get a piece of paper.. You MUST monitor Black Tyrano’s Hp (his Hp
will never exceed his 10500 maximum from healing)

For the first half of the fight just have Crono use Lightning on Azala (and
will die shortly) Ayla heals Marle & Herself with Kisses and Marle concentrates
on using Ice on Azala. Use a Mid Ether on Marle when necessary.

Azala Has a Rock teleport, a Sleep & a Telekinesis attack.. Both of which will
nearly kill Marle and hurt Ayla slightly. Just make sure you always have Ayla’s
turn available and you should be Aye Okay. However when Tyrano’s Countdown is
over make sure Ayla has at least 250 Hp and she’ll survive no problem, revive
Marle after.

When Azala fall’s he’ll use Break, Hp Down. Have Ayla Kiss herself to remove
the status.
Now have Crono & Ayla Blitz Tyrano, keep monitor of his Hp. If you run out of
revives, stay calm it’s not the end of the world Ayla can take Black Tyrano by
herself just fine, make sure you keep their health up after the Bites which
always takes away more then 1/2 of their max Hp, revive Crono when he falls
except when close to killing Tyrano, in which case Ayla finishes the job by
herself.

Ayla will absorb all 1800 Exp, after the following scenes you’ll arrive in
12000 BC.

Now I present to you nearly all of your Final Levels (just Magus isn’t
included.. Yet.)

Crono: Level 1
Marle: Level 4
Lucca: Level 15
Frog : Level 15
Robo : Level 16
Ayla : Level 20

Your final party will be Crono, Marle & Robo so you will be finish this game
with a team average of 7! Now you can brag since most people finish with an
average of about 50, hehe.

**>-14-<***
12000 BC - The Wallet
**********

Head through the gate and you’ll reach 12000 BC.
Go through this place till you reach Zeal Palace (don’t do the Fire, Water &
Wind books just yet.. We’ll come back to these shortly enough). Tell the lady
in the Castle with the plant for her to plant it, not burn it. This opens a
very important side-quest to us later on. Scratch the Nu’s back on the bridge
now head back to Kajar, enter the top-right room & scratch the Nu in there’s
back for a Magic tab.
More importantly however you can search the right-side of the BOTTOM wall in
the very same room for a Speed tab!

Now head back to Zeal palace and charge your pendant after a few scenes. Great!
This now grants you access to TONNES of really useful items including the
almost godly Wallet!
However two Nu’s block your path so you must head into the room above and
experience the scenes there.

You WILL LOSE to Golem to avoid his exp. Golem is very difficult to defeat
without replacing Marle anyway. IF ANYONE can find a way to shuffle Exp in a
way so that your party can take this battle without any level gains then
please E-Mail me. I seriously doubt it because of Ayla however.
Ayla only absorbs the battle's she absolutely must (so Crono & Marle avoid
exp).

Here is a FOR FUN strategy non-the-less.

**********
Golem
7000 Hp
**********

Replace Marle with Lucca & set your characters up.
Crono: Don't care...
Lucca: Taban Vest, Silver Stud
Ayla : Ceratopper, Ruby Vest, Gold Enrg

Ayla will be your survivor in this battle. Basically if you hit the Golem
with a Physical Tech, the Golem copies physics & uses 2 attacks, Iron Orb &
Physical barrage, which will nearly One-Hit Ayla. If you hit him with Fire, he
uses Fire & Fire 2. Both of which are reduced by your armours.

Also the best part is Golem is vulnerable to sleep!

Start the battle with Lucca using Fire, Ayla does nothing.

Now have Lucca use Hypno Wave UNTIL Golem falls asleep. Ayla will only heal
with kisses.

Now Lucca will Fire & Fire & Fire away, twhen the Golem wake up IMMEDIATLY use
Hypno Wave again to send him to bed. After a few Mid Ethers he'll fall.
Boooooring....

Now if you did this, replay and LOSE to Golem.

Afterwards you will be booted back to 65000000 BC, but far from empty handed.
Now you must use the pendant and get the brilliant items it grants access to.
Obtain the items below in the order I display to you.

1000 AD
Heckran’s Cave - Wall Ring & Dash Ring (Useful)

Guardia Forest (chest near the portal) - Power Ring
Note: To access this area you must enter Via the portal which leads from
2300 AD (Bangor Dome)

Now go to Guardia Forest (600 AD) and find another sealed chest in a similar
sort of position to the one above, in this one is a Speed Tab!

2300 AD - Yes you must avoid this really annoying Buggers again

Arris Dome -
Hit Ring! (very useful)
Gold Enrg!! (very very useful)
Lumin Robe
Elixer
Power Tab

Banjor Dome -
Charm top
Full Ether
WALLET!!!!!!!!! (The God of ALL accessories)

Give the Wallet to Crono for now.

Trann Dome -
Magic Tab
Full Ether
Gold Stud!! (I like this one..)

Now go through the Gate in Banjor Dome to 1000 AD, grab the Chest there for a
Power Ring.

Now go to 600 AD, TOUCH (speak & say no) to the 2 Chests at the Elders House,
the chest in Guardia Castle and the chest in the Inn.

Go to the Magic Cave 600 AD for a Magic Ring

Now you can head back to 1000 AD and collect the 4 touched chests. Head back to
600 AD and collect the same chests now you should have the Red, White, Blue,
Black Mails & Vests (all of which are extremely useful).

Now I suggest going to Medina Village in 1000 AD, goto the Blue Pyramid and
obtain the SAFE HELM.

Now you are armed with these brilliant items we must start learning techniques
(which we can safely do now thanks to the Wallet). In the next part we will be
facing Rubbles, one of which DOES respawn and gives 100 AP a go!
But we DO need Ayla’s Charm Tech BEFORE then so we must start learning..

Personally I highly advise fighting the Kilwala’s & Runners in Mystic Mts, each
set of 4 give 8 Tech Points a go and are quick to find & easy to kill. I gave
Crono & Frog both berserkers and Ayla the wallet. I used shelters to heal
outside.

This took me 8 mins but I used the turbo on ym emulator.. SNES players
shouldn’t take more then 20 mins. I got Crono up to Spin Cut, Frog with Leap
Slash & Ayla with Charm at the end of this. Now I DO suggest you kill the Nu in
the training grounds just once for a Third Eye.

Now head to the Sewer Access in 2400 AD, give Crono the Wallet, take the
Berserker off Frog and equip Ayla with a Gold Stud, make your way through the
Sewer, slaughter Sir Krawlie and collect the Epoch, go straight to 12000 BC.

**>-15-<***
12000 BC - Mt Woe
***********

Take your party into the Terra Cave, buy 30 Mid Tonics and 10 Revives and save
downstairs.
Now equip your party members

Crono: Slasher & Wallet
Frog : Gold Enrg
Ayla : Safe Helm, Dash Ring

I gave them my best helms & some element absorbing armour (they’re the best
defensive armours available so far..).

When you head through downstairs you’ll face 2 beasts, have Ayla Charm a
Rainbow Helm form each of them while Crono uses Spincut, Frog Leap Slash then
finally Ayla Rock Throwing (very effective). Don’t be surprised if you die..
These beasts are tough in a LLG. Also in the bottom right corner in this room
is a Power Tab.

Give the 2 Rainbow Helms to Frog & Crono these give very decent defence and a
very fancy but yet nearly useless 50% Lightning resistance.

Now heal up with tonics (use an Ether on each character too) and head through
to face 2 more beasts, Charm them if you wish but kill them either way.

Now heal everyone with Tonics, use Mid ethers on Ayla & Frog & an Ether on
Crono, the next fight is VERY tough. Prepare your characters like so.

Crono: Slasher, Rbow Helm, Element Mail, Wallet
Frog : Masamune, Rbow Helm, Element Mail, Dash ring
Ayla : Safe Helm, Element Mail, Gold Enrg

When you try to head further you’ll face a boss fight.

**********
Mud Imp
Red Beast - 5000 Hp
Blue Beast - 5000 Hp
**********

The Blue Imp holds a Mermaid Cap, and the Mud Imp hold a Speed Tab, both of
which you REALLY want. Begin by Charming both off the 2 Beasts and having Crono
and Frog heal. If Crono falls don’t revive.

Now have Frog be the healer using Mid Tonics and Ayla just attack with Beast
Tosses on the Red Beast. If Frog Falls asleep have Ayla heal Frog with a Kiss,
if the other way round have Frog heal Ayla with Mid Tonics, if both asleep you
may be pretty much screwed. Repeat the process and eventually the Red Beast
will fall, repeat the process on the Blue Beast (who will now counterattack
every move against him) then just wait out the Imp, who will run eventually.
Use a Mid Ether is necessary.

Do NOT be surprised if you get killed in this fight. In total I used 17 Mid
Tonics and 2 Mid Ethers on this fight.

Proceed up & through the mountain, when you see a rubble set up your characters
as follows.

Crono: Wallet
Frog : Berserker
Ayla : Hit Ring

Button bash A and hope you make the kill. Rubbles earn a Massive 100 tech
points and a decent 1000 G, later there is one Rubble that respawns.. This
Rubble will be used to teach all your characters all your techs so you must pay
attention.

On this mountain are several monsters which you can charm a LOT of useful items
from, when your not fighting rubbles equip Ayla with the Gold Stud, use Frog to
heal in between fights or Marle/Robo is Frog runs out of MP (switch Ayla for
Robo/Marle, heal, reswitch, heal) and use Mid Ethers on Ayla when she’s out of
MP. Keeping the Berserker on Frog is not a bad idea as the monsters here give
decent Tech Points, Crono should hang onto the Wallet.

Here’s the Charm List for the Mountain.

Buntan Imp’s : Alloy Blade (GIVE THIS TO CRONO ASAP!)
Gargoyle : Big Hand (Robo)
Stone Imp - Mid Ether
Man Eater - Pearl Edge (V Useful, give to Frog Immediately)

The respawning Rubble is on the second screen on the mountain, go past the Save
Point and it’s on your right on a ‘Mini Island’ linked by a chain (which you
can walk over). Personally I did the lazy thing and gave Frog the Berserker
too. Flicked turbo on my emulator, left the screen through the bottom, run up &
kill the Gargoyles, run from the fight Just before the rubble then kill the
Rubble, leave the screen the way you came & repeat.
If on a SNES I suggest you give the Berserker to Ayla & Hit Ring to Frog and do
what I did.. However when Ayla & Frog have learned all their tech’s swap Frog
out for another character, I suggest Robo first, then Lucca keeping Ayla in the
party for all of them because she has the highest HIT stat of all your
characters, not to mention the second highest attack strength stat (with Robo
having the highest with his Big Hand).

Basically for everyone except Marle & perhaps Lucca keep the Wallet on Crono
and the Hit Ring on Ayla, give the Berserker to the ‘Trainee’ character and
keep killing the Rubble until everyone knows ALL their techs because they’re
all VERY important later. This may take a while but remember you only need to
do this once, Save frequently.

A/N: For Lucca & Marle stick the Wallet on them & the Berserker on Crono.

Personally you don’t actually have to teach your characters ALL their techs
NOW, because they’ll be earning plenty of Tech Points in subsequent fights
after Crono dies anyway - but some techs are useful now - here’s the list of
characters and the tech you should have brought them to after your session.

Crono - Luminaire
Useless, Confuse is the highest tech required, but Crono must stay in party
when training..

Marle - Ice
For now she doesn’t need to know anything because she will not be doing much
fighting at all, she needs her Life 2 at the end however - plenty of Tech Point
gaining places before then though :)

Lucca - Mega Bomb
Flare is nice, she’ll learn it when she needs it

Frog - Water 2
Only Leap Slash is needed

Robo - Uzzi punch
Uzzi punch is your best physical tech at the end of the game, Shock is needed
towards the end, but again plenty of places to gain Tech points before then.

Ayla - Triple Kick
It’s what she needs & is exactly what she gets.

Now you should have learnt most of the techs you’ll ever need, this will make
the following fights MUCH easier but remember, just because you know most of
the powerful techs doesn’t mean your characters are any stronger. If fact if
you compared your save file right now to other people’s you’ll see clearly your
characters are pitifully weaker then theirs, hehe.

Head the rest of the way through the mountain with all your lovely techs
learnt, charming the enemies here, don’t hesitate to get more then one of each
item because they sell for VERY GOOD G. But then again you should be pretty
rich anyway from the fights you haven’t run from, hehe.

Just before you reach Giga Gaia you’ll get a Time hat (useless..) then you’ll
reach a chain bridge which will take you to Giga Gaia, on the bottom right of
this screen is s Magic Tab, be sure to grab it. SAVE.

Now you face probably the easiest boss ever, Giga Gaia.

***********
Giga Gaia
10000 Hp
***********

All you need to do is set up your characters like so...
Crono: Black Mail & Wallet
Robo : Red Vest & Hit Ring
Ayla : Red Mail & Gold Stud

With both hands Giga Gaia only does 2 attacks
2 Handed Attack : Double Fire Blaster
2 Handed Attack : Double Shadow Blaster

Both of these attacks do about the same damage but Giga Always uses them in the
following sequence.
Shadow
Fire
Fire
Repeat

He uses the fire one 2x as much as his Shadow.. Hence with your brilliant Fire-
Absorbing gear you got earlier this battle is a piece of cake. Robo has some
natural resistance to Shadow hence he gets away with using a Red Vest.

When the battle starts have Ayla Charm the main body for a Speed tab, have Robo
Uzzi punch the main body until out of MP, have Crono start with a Spincut, then
soon after wiped out by the Fire Blaster (don’t revive him of course), have
Ayla Triple Kick till out of MP, then Just have Robo & Ayla attack until the
Main Body dies (don’t attack the arms).

After this easy battle Mt Woe will fall - hopefully you’ve got all the items
and Tech Points you needed before then.

Now head up the Skyway to Enhasa, open the 3 Books here in correct order (Water
- Wind - Fire), this will open a separate room (make sure Crono has the Wallet
if you for some reason removed it). Here you will face 6 Nu’s. (Make sure you
save outside please).

Make a party of Crono, Ayla & Lucca, give Ayla the Dash Ring & Lucca the Taban
Vest & Magic Ring, have Lucca use Fire 2 and when Ayla is hit to 1 Hp have her
use Dino Tail. 1 Fire 2 and 2 Dino Tail’s are enough to wipe all 6 out.

Here’s a basic order
Lucca uses Fire 2
Ayla Gets hit to 1 Hp
Ayla QUICKLY uses Dino Tail
Someone uses a Tonic on Ayla
Ayla eventually gets hit again to 1 Hp
Ayla uses Dino Tail.

A/N: These Nu’s CAN kill you. And for completionists.. Charm one of these for a
Mop :)

Now maybe head to Kajar, do the 3 books for a useless Black Rock.

Eventually you reach Zeal Castle, return to the chamber you faced Golem in,
you’ll face Dalton.

**********
Dalton
4000 Hp
**********

Dalton attacks with Iron Orb & Counter Attacks with Iron Orb, and has VERY high
Evasion.
He DOES have one attack that can kill you and that’s his death counter (approx
200 damage). The easiest way to deal with him is to make a team of Crono, Lucca
& Ayla (with them all knowing the Triple Tech GatlingKick). Equip them like
so..

Crono: Gold Stud
Lucca: Wallet & Taban Vest
Ayla : SilverStud

GatlingKick ALWAYS hits and gives you about 1100 Damage, 4 of these will take
down Dalton with no problems.
BEFORE the 4th and Final GatlingKick heal Ayla or Lucca with a Mid Tonic and
they’ll survive Dalton’s finisher.

Now you proceed to Ocean Palace

**>-16-<***
12000 BC - Ocean Palace
***********

*Sigh* The Elemental Mail’s again will be your best friend here. I suggest
giving making a Party of Ayla, Frog & Crono. Give each of them a different
Elemental Mail NOT including Black Mail, give Crono the Wallet, Ayla the Gold
Stud & Frog the Hit Ring. In here are several elemental ‘Scouts’ who’s spells
can be painful or not.

Here’s the Charm List of the area (do plenty of it).

Yellow Scouts - Lapis (Pretty useless)
Red Scouts - Barrier (Get 12 of these, 18 if you want to beat Magus alone with
Frog)
Blue Scouts - Shield (Get 12 of these)
Mage - Barrier
Barghest - Shield

The Barrier & Shields will be VERY important later on, DO NOT skip charming
them.

I don’t suggest fighting to the finish on any of the scouts to the finish, I DO
suggest you keep switching your Elemental Mail’s with respect to the scouts.
Use Leap Slash & Rock throw as attacking techniques, with Mid Ethers for MP.

I suggest you collect every Chest, you should obtain the hidden Demon Hit which
is not only now Frog’s strongest weapon but gives him a huge 2x damage for
magic enemies, keep this on Frog for now. You should also pick up a few very
decent weapons for your other characters.

Now you will head down some stairs, run from every fight you see here.
Eventually you’ll meet Masa who will show you the cut-scene with Schala, head
down the stairs after this. Now save & use a shelter, then set up your
characters as follows..

Crono: Star Sword, MermaidCap, White Mail, Wallet
Frog : Demon Hit, R’bow Helm, Blue Mail, Hit Ring
Ayla : R’bow Helm, Red Mail, Gold Stud.

Now you’ll reach the elevator.. Where you’ll fight 3 consecutive & very tough
fights.

First you’ll Face 2 Blue scouts, 2 Yellow Scouts & a Mage.
Have Frog or Ayla use Rock Throw/Leap Slash on the Mage then have Frog Leap
Slash away at the Scouts, Leap Slash is by FAR your best friend against these.
Now HEAL everyone up with Mid Tonics or swapping Robo in for heal beam and use
a Mid Ether on Frog.

As you starts descending the elevator you’ll face

3 Thrashers & Jinn/Barghest combo:
Use a Rock Throw on each Thrasher to one-hit-kill & avoid the powerful counter,
have Frog normally attack the Jinn/Barghest combo, heal everybody with Mid
Tonics & Mid Ether is necessarey just before finishing this.

2 Thrashers, 2 Mages & a Yellow Scout:
Quickly take out both Mages by using one Rock throw or Leap Slash on each, then
take out the Thrashers using Ayla’s Rock Throws while Frog normally attacks the
Yellow Scout, Heal with Mid Tonics just before finishing off. MAKE SURE AYLA
HAS AT LEAST 10 MP.

2 Red Scouts, 2 Yellow, 2 Blue:
These scouts are DEADLY. Take out 2 Scouts of the same type (I highly suggest
taking the Yellow ones out first). Use the Drop Kick Duel Tech (Frog & Ayla) to
take each of them out in one hit, now you can reduce the pace and take out the
other 4 normally. The reason why these need to be removed quickly is because
with 3 Scouts of the same element alive they can use the Triple Tech Delta
Attack. Which will basically nearly annihilate your party in one shot.

After this fight heal up with Mid Tonics & Give Mid Ethers to both Ayla & Frog.
Now I do suggest giving the Black Mail & Vests to Frog & Ayla (I also Suggest
giving Frog the Mermaid cap & Ayla a Rainbow Helm). Now you will need to flick
2 switches, each initiating a battle with a set of 3 different scouts which
also can use Delta Attack, the Black Mail should save you from dying...
immediately. For each of the 2 fights use Drop Kick on the Red Scout before
cutting the other 2 to pieces..

After the second fight swap Frog out for Lucca & set them up accordingly.

Crono: Wallet
Lucca: Red Vest & Silver Stud
Ayla : Safe Helm, Red Mail & Gold Stud

Soon you will face Golem Twins, each of them were even tougher then that Golem
you got beaten by last time remember? Except this time.. They’re REALLY easy.

SAVE UP, now head out to beat up the Golem Twins.

**********
Golem x2
7000 Hp each
**********

Immediately open out this fight with Fire 2, this will make both Golems
telecopy Fire magic. This means the only 2 attacks they can hit you with are
Fire & Fire 2..and because of your fire absorbing gear these attacks wront hurt
you one bit.

Now I suggest using Ayla & Lucca’s Duel Tech Fire Whirl Repetitively (1000
Damage to each Golem).

MAKE SURE you Charm a Magic tab off each Golem before you kill him, using Charm
on the Golem makes him telecopy Physics however, so make sure Lucca IMMEDIATLY
uses a Fire after on the Golem you charmed from to change him back to Telecopy
Fire before he gets an attack in.

After 7 Fire Whirls both Golems will pull their Death Counter at the same time,
Ayla will survive this with about 100 Hp to spare, now you should be 2 Magic
Tabs up :).

Now BEFORE you proceed into the next room Set Up your party as follows.

IN THIS ORDER have Crono in #1 Spot, Frog in #2 Spot & Ayla in #3 Spot.

Equip Frog Ayla & Robo like so.

Frog: Safe Helm & WALLET.
Ayla: Gold Stud
Robo: Gold Enrg

Equip those 3 characters with the best Weapons & Armours you have, now
COMPLETELY UNEQUIP Crono, give him the worst Helm, Armour & Accessory you can
give him. If you don’t like listening to me to what I tell you to equip your
characters with you MUST listen here, EQUIP YOUR #2 CHARACTER WITH THE WALLET.

Now proceed through, soon you’ll witness a cutscene and ‘fight’ Lavos. You’ll
watch your party get obliterated.. Most probably before you receive a single
turn. Now watch Crono die for your party. Hmm 70 Hp was enough to save your
party from certain doom.. That Red Head must have chosen quality over quantity
when he was born.

Eventually you’ll reach solid ground, if your low on any items, go buy them
from the Nu in the shop (be sure to Grab the Magic Tab behind him).

Now you must double check the character in the #1 spot HAS the Wallet Equipped,
you’ll regret it if you don’t. Now go face Dalton again, and be taken on board
the BlackBird.

**>-17-<***
12000 AD - Blackbird
***********

Now you will face the first of your only sets of monsters without Crono being
in the party, when you wake up you will find you have lost all your equipment,
INCLUDING the Wallet. The only person in your party that can fight right now is
Ayla, but if you do so that means you’ll be gaining Exp - which is a very very
bad thing.
If you listened to me earlier, Frog should have been the holder of the Wallet
when you were Kidnapped and is in the lead of the party. This means you can
obtain Frog equipment from the room without getting into any fights (using the
air ducts above the rooms).

As soon as you obtain Frog’s gear you can start fighting again now you are
protected from any Exp gain. Grab Ayla’s & Robo’s gear, then grab your Items &
Money before going onto the roof. PLEASE make sure you heal between fights
because damage does stack very quickly. I suggest using Robo’s cure beam.

Upstairs on the roof are a few turrets. These give great AP but they do
painfully attack with Shadow Lasers. I suggest setting up your characters as
goes.

Frog: Demon Hit, Black Mail, Berserker
Ayla: Black Vest, Hit Ring
Robo: Best Weap, Dark Mail, Wallet.

Fight all the turrets one at a time, if your lucky you’ll kill one or two of
them.. Don’t get too hopeful however. Eventually in the bottom-left tip of the
wing you’ll face Golem Boss.

**********
Golem Boss
15000 Hp
**********

You need not defeat this boss, if you do you’ll net approx 40 AP, and to net it
you need to beat him before he runs. Not worth it just use this period to heal
and make yourself a cup of tea until he runs.

Immediately after you’ll face Dalton Plus

**********
Dalton Plus
3000 Hp
**********

Very easy. I kept the Berserker on Frog, used Uzzi punch with Robo & Rock
Throw, literally in seconds Dalton will be sucked into the portal because you
only need to hit him 7 or 8 times, you don’t even need to heal.

Now you will gain control of the Epoch. Now you must enter North Cape to meet
Magus, now let me put a few notes down here.

This FAQ intended that you obtain each and every character available in this
game, Magus is a character that’s available in the game, although optional.

By choosing not to fight Magus your party average will sky rocket although of
course Magus will NEVER EVER be used in any subsequent fights due to the fact
well.. he owns. Magus I can honestly say, even at level 37 which is low by most
finishing gamers standards is extremely unfair to use as it takes most of the
challenge out of a LLG.

So in other words whether you choose to slay Magus or not you can and WILL
finish the rest of the game without using him at all.

Here is a strategy for defeating Magus with Frog, this is for FUN purposes
only, CyberScarkey gave me plenty of help on this (practically a whole
strategy, I just fixed it up and re-worded it).

Frog vs. Magus

Equip Frog..

Frog: Demon hit, R'Bow Helm, Red Mail, Dash Ring
**Note** If your seriously planning on slaying Magus and playing on..
change the Dash Ring to the Wallet.

REQUIRED:
5 Barriers Max
3 Shields
20-30 Mid tonics
2-3 Mid Ethers

If you Charmed and Fought that Rubble a few times, you should have plenty
of these items.

Basically the first phase is easy. Hoever in the secon phase Magus uses
POWERFUL Level - 2 Spells which if unguarded. WILL 2-Hit Robo

I found out to limit all elements as much as possible this works best,
Red Mail means Fire Damage is absorbed, Rbow Helm cuts his Lightning-Damage
by half, and Frog's "natural water resistance" limits ice a bit, any other
way, there would be at least 1 full damaging spell(and you DON'T want this).

1st Phase - When Magus is >3333 Hp
2nd Phase - When Magus is <3333 Hp

1st Phase: Magus attacks with his scythe, doing 80-90 dmg, thats why you
open the battle with a shield, reducing it to bout 40-50 dmg per hit, use
Leap Slash, if fall below 150 hp use a Mid Tonic, use a Mid-Ether for MP
(exchange what would be an attack for the Mid-Ether) but before the first
attack in Magus's 2nd Phase use a Mid Ether & a barrier.

2nd phase: Magus along with his Scythe, now uses his VERY DEADLY Level-2
spells. Not only this but like Slash, his speed increases 2 maybe even
threefold. He may double (or even triple!) turn you with
his spells.
With the Barrier his spells do the following damage:
Lightning 2: ~70 Dmg
Ice 2: ~ 133 Dmg
Fire 2: ~160 Damage absorbed

And I REPEAT, Double Ice 2 = Dead Frog.

You must ALWAYS keep yopur Barrier up. It's much better to use 1 too
many then 1 too few, don't take silly changes and keep regenerating your
Barrier.

Use a Mid Tonic after each
Lightning 2 followed by Ice 2/Scythe (from Full Hp)
Ice 2

Basically only attack after being hit with Fire 2. I repeat, ONLY after
Fire 2. Magus WILL counter EVERY move against him with a Level 2 Spell.

So if you follow everything I tell you, the only way you can die is if..
Magus uses Fire 2
Frog IMMEDIATLY attacks with leap Slash
Magus counters with Ice 2
Magus attacks with Ice 2 again before Frog can heal.

Just pray that doesn't happen :).

After a few Leap Slashes, Magus will fall.

Either way you WILL refuse to fight Magus and accept him into your party, if
your friends start laughing at you saying they’re party average if much lower
due to the fact they killed Magus, well it doesn’t prove much doesn’t it, hehe.

**>-18-<***
2300 AD - Death peak
**********

After you obtain Magus you will have a party of 6 again.. But we MUST obtain
Crono again. Immediately go to the End of Time to obtain the Chrono Trigger
from Gaspar. Now go to Death Peak & speak with Nu, head to Leene Square & grab
your Crono clone. Now go back to the Nu to release the 3 Dolls now you must
face Death Peak.

Now head around Death Peak like you normally would, however just before you
face off against the first Lavos Spawn.

**********
Lavos Spawn
Head - 4000 Hp
**********

Set up your 3 Characters accordingly.

Frog: Demon Hit, Safe Helm, Best Armour, Wallet
Ayla: Rainbow Helm, Best Armour, Gold Stud
Robo: Best Weap, Rainbow Helm, Best Armour Left, Gold Enrg

With This Set Up all 3 should survive the opening attack.

Now personally I just went all out and killed the Head with 1 Leap Slash, 2
Drop Kicks & 2 Uzzi Punches, however I do suggest using Frog after the first
Frog kick to use a Lapis on the whole party, have Ayla use Triple Kick & Robo
Uzzi Punch. Then they all should survive another 2 or 3 attacks - which SHOULD
be enough to wipe out the head. Do not bother Charming the head because it only
holds an Elixer.

If your having trouble here then perhaps you should designate Robo or Frog to
be the healer with Lapis’s (hopefully you should have Charmed about 12) and
have thee other 2 Characters to go all out. If the healer gets hit by chaos or
sleep then Designate Robo to be the healer.

If you can’t kill him before his 2nd wave of attacks then you should make Ayla
a ‘Tank’ with the following set up.

Ayla: Safe Helm, Best Armour, Gold Enrg.
Robo: Best Weap, Rainbow Helm, Best Armour Left, Silver Enrg
Frog: Demon Hit, Rainbow Helm, Best Armour Left, Dash ring.

Ayla will easily survive the opening attack, revive Frog and designate Ayla to
be the healer with Frog using Leap Slash and Ayla using Mid Tonics & Revives.
Now head beack & heal with a Shelter.

Proceed back through, collecting the new weapons in the chests as you go along,
you’ll face another Lavos Spawn which is exactly the same as the first. Repeat
the above strategy to kill him. Head out and head with another Shelter, now
proceed further along.

Eventually you’ll face a 3rd Lavos Spawn. Again repeat the above strategy for
him. Now go retrieve your almighty Level One Crono, make sure you don’t lose
the fool again :).

Now you have access to the flying Epoch, ahead of us we have a series of side-
quests available and Lavos himself. If you try to fight Lavos now you can
probably be quite confident you’ll get shredded. Here is the list of the
available side-quests and the important items etc that they make available on
completion.

Sun Stone: WonderShot & Prism Specs

Rainbow Shell: Prism Helms/Prism Dress, Prism Specs & Rainbow Sword

Geno Dome: Crisis & Terra Arm Weapons & Ribbon for Robo (Gives a permanent +3
Speed & +10 M Def Bonus to Robo).

Northern Ruins: Upgraded Masamune for Frog, Siren & Valkerie for Marle and
Nova + Moon Armour.

Fiona’s Forest: GreenDream, Bunch of Helmets.

Ozzies Fort: Pitifully useless Junk, Magus’s best gear & CHEAP access to shop
in Medina.

Nifty no? To be quite honest ALL these side quests are pretty essential to
being able to complete your LLG. But we’re going to do them ALL anyway aren’t
we? :).

I am very sure you want to get your dirty hands on the Rainbow for starters but
first I suggest you go to 65000000 BC. Get yourself 30 Feathers, Horns, Fangs &
Petals to trade for 3 Ruby Armours. I actually myself took this opportunity to
take Marle & Lucca to the hunting range to teach Lucca her Flare & Marle the
rest of her Tech’s at the Nu in the hunting grounds.. I had 80 petals and only
around 10 of the other 3 at the time, lol. I suggest you do the same.

Now first place I suggest you go to is the Sun Palace in 2300 AD.

**>-19-<***
Sun Stone Side Quest
***********

When you reach the palace you must fight Son of the Sun. I suggest you form a
party of Crono, Marle & Ayla.

The reason why I chose Marle was because she needs Tech Points, and any
character really can do this battle. I chose Ayla because the Son of the Sun
has a Black Mail that can be charmed off him. And Charm we will!

**********
Son of Sun
2200 Hp
**********

Equip your characters something like this.

Crono: Slasher, Red Mail/Vest, Wallet (Slasher is for ** Speed)
Marle: Red Mail/Vest, Dash Ring
Ayla : Ruby Armour, Charm Top.

Note: You should have at least 50 Revives for this fight & it may make life
easier to take the Save Battle Cursor off for this fight.

Like most battles the equipment in no way needs to be what I gave you.. But its
what I recommend and what I used. At the start of the battle have Ayla Charm a
Black Mail off the Main Body, Ayla should survive the counter attack, now fight
Son of the Sun how you normally would, Ayla will quickly be taken out leaving
Crono & Marle alone, the only attack that can hurt either of them is the Shadow
Laser attack, which will kill one, revive the fallen character and attack the
flames when you can. 10 Correct flames will bring this one down.

Marle will net some decent Tech Points and you’ll obtain the Sun Stone. Charge
the Sun Stone like you normally would and bring it to Lucca. When you reach
Lucca’s place you’ll get your WonderShot & Sun Shades. You can also re-enter
the house, talk to Taban for a Taban Suit. This will give her a HUGE +3 Speed
Bonus not to mention practically the same defensive properties as a Ruby
Armour.

A/N: You can grab a Power Tab in the Sun keep in 600 AD.

**>-20-<***
Rainbow Shell Side Quest
***********

This will be a tough side quest, but nothing but a bump in your (unstable)
road. Go grab Toma’s Pop & Pour it on his grave like you normally would, MAKE
SURE you grab the Speed Tab BEHIND Toma’s Grave.

Now head to the Giant’s Claw, make your party of anyone who you like, keep the
Wallet on your physically weakest character. If you wish to do any charming
then you’ll need Ayla. Personally I ran from all fights because they were all
very tough. The Rubbles I faced I killed, of course. You should know by now how
to best set up your characters when fighting Rubbles. The HIT stat determines
how often you hit the enemy.
There is a Power tab in here which would be nice to grab.

Eventually you’ll face Rust Tyrano.

***********
Rust Tyrano
25000 Hp
***********

Rust Tyrano has a Red Mail that can be Charmed off him. Which we shall do.
Make up a Party of Crono, Ayla & anyone else (recommend Robo).

I gave them the following set up.

Crono: Red Mail, Hit Ring
Ayla : Ruby Armour, Wallet
Robo : Red Vest, Gold Stud

Have Ayla charm the Red Mail then Triple Kick, then attack until dead. Have
Robo use Uzzi Punch until out of MP, then just normally attack. Rust Tyrano has
only 2 attacks that can hurt you, which are his 2 bites. 2 bites on the same
character will kill him, so just revive that character. Keep attacking and
eventually he’ll fall.

In this fight Crono can be healed for 5200 health. This is the highest figure a
character can be healed for, the only other way to get higher numbers is by
using the CT Coliseum to fight the Pink Nu Spekkio (who does 9999 damage to all
with Luminaire).

Either way this battle should be a Cake Walk, Rust Tyrano will eventually all,
unlocking the lovely Rainbow Shell.

After the following scenes go to 1000 AD, Guardia Castle.
BEFORE YOU ENTER THIS CASTLE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AROUND 30 REVIVES AND 50
MID TONICS.
Proceed through as you normally would. Just before the fight with Yakra, make
sure your third party member is Robo or Ayla.

**********
Yakra
20000 Hp
**********

Having Ayla with you lets you charm an extra White Mail.

I suggest setting up your characters as follows.

Crono: Best Weapon & Speed Belt
Marle: Wallet
Ayla : Safe Helm, Ruby Armour & AMULET

De-Equip Magus’s Amulet to give to Ayla. This Amulet right now is your only
protection against status effecting attacks.. Such as Yakra’s ANNOYING Chaos
breath.

There’s not much in Yakra at first when you fight him, Charm the White Mail off
him at the start and just use Rock Throw with Ayla, let Crono & Marle die &
stay dead. Make sure Ayla’s Hp is at least 250 throughout.

As soon as Yakra blurts out ‘Heard it about it from the Ancestors’ MAKE SURE
Ayla has over 250 Hp, as now he’ll start using an extremely painful NeedleSpin
attack. He uses these fairly quickly. In this phase Ayla will probably only be
fast enough to heal herself and not fast enough to get a decent number of
attacks in.
In this case I suggest repeating what you did for Magus, have Ayla revive
Crono. Have Crono heal Ayla with Mid Tonics (don’t let him attack though, not
once) and have Ayla revive Crono when he falls, and attack Yakra with Rock
Throw constantly when Crono lives.
There are a few points where Yakra will take a fairly long delay, which opens
him up for a free 2 or 3 Rock Throws so this battle is far from impossible. It
will probably be worth using an Elixer on Ayla when her Mp is low rather a Mid
Tonic, as you’ll hardly use Elixers after this anyway and you should have
around 10.

After 40 Rock Throws Yakra should fall.

Now you have the choice between a Prism Dress or 3 Prism Helms. Taking the
prism Helms will make a lot of the next few battles MUCH easier. Although the
Dress has very good Physical defence for Ayla. The items we have not are enough
to get us by. The Prism Dress’s Magic defence is made obsolete by a prism Helm
+ Barrier (because the helm ADDS to Magic Defence and the Dress only gives
auto-barrier).

After you receive your Helms talk to Melchoir again for your Prism Specs &
Rainbow Sword. The Rainbow Sword makes Crono the strongest Physical Character
you have (Save Magus, who had a 36 Level advantage hehe) with a nifty 70%
Critical Hit rate. These items make the following parts easier.

A/N: I took the Dress first time and STRUGGLED, badly, please don’t do the
same.

**>-21-<***
Geno Done Side Quest
***********

Robo must be in the lead, Crono will take the second spot and I advise you give
the third to Frog. You have probably noticed now that Ayla is becoming only
useful for her Charm, simply because when you gain new weapons.. Your other
Characters becomes ever more stronger while Ayla is at constant strength =(. Oh
well.

Equip your characters like this, this Dome is VERY tough.

Robo : Best Weap, Safe Helm, Black Mail, Gold Stud.
Crono: Rainbow, Black Vest, Wallet
Frog : Best Weap, Rainbow Helm, Gold Enrg

The Shadow attacks used by the Robots will gives you a few free turns, however
they more often use physical attacks. I chose not to use the Prism Helms on
Robo & Frog due to the fact they give a +9 Mdef boost, and since the Robot’s
only use Shadow Magic that hinders your healing - while with Crono near enough
anything now is a 1 Hit Kill - heh.

You hop onto the conveyer belt, which is NOT easy. I had Robo constantly use
Area Bomb with Frog using Lapis’s & Mid Tonics. You have a good chance of dying
on here.

Now after this proceed through the factory like you normally would. With the
laser guards I suggest just waiting these out letting the Shadow Lasers heal
you until they Self Destruct. After you grab the 2 Dolls, but when you collect
the from opening it's door with switches (i.e not the one where you short out
that Proto Guard), examine under where it was sat for a Speed tab.

Swap Robo’s Black mail for a Red Mail before you fight Atropos.

**********
Atropos
**********

Just have Robo heal himself with Cure Beam, when she starts using Area Bombs,
lay your feet up and wait for her to stop, you wront need to put the Wallet on
Robo, don’t worry.

After Atropos stops she’ll give Robo her Ribbon, which gives Robo a PERMANENT
+3 Speed & +10 Magic Defence Stat Boost. Brilliant! This lets Robo survive a
few more attacks & requires 3 less Speed Tabs to max out his Speed :).

Now before I forget, go into the room just above where you fought Stropos and
grab the Magic Tab hidden in there. Now you must face the Mother Brain.

**********
Mother Brain & 3 Panels
Mother Brain - 5500 Hp
Panels - 1 Hp each
**********

As you can see the Mother Brain has very little Hp compared to your recent
bosses but she has 3 Panels that heal her 1000 Hp a hit. In your normal game
you most likely wiped out all 3 panels then killed the mother brain in seconds.
Well it turns out that’s not an option in a LLG since the mother brain breaks
out with loads of party hitting attacks which are nearly all one-hit-kills.

I suggest making a party of Robo, Crono & Ayla and equipping them like this.

Robo : Black Mail, Gold Stud
Crono: Black Vest, Wallet
Ayla : Black Mail, Silver Stud.

Even if you take just 2 of the displays out the Mother Brain is still a pain as
it gets it‘s turns so damn fast. Take 2 out at the start then use dual Tech
Boogie which affects the Last Panel with the Stop Status. Now I suggest
charming an extra Blue Mail off the Mother Brain using Ayla first then
slaughtering the Mother Brain with Uzzi punch, Rainbow Criticals & Triple Kick.
Re-Boogie if the Stop status on the Palen wears off. This battle should be
easy.

If you want a bit more of a challenge, complete the below Side Quest first,
give Robo all your Magic, Speed & Power Tabs now & equip your characters.

Robo : Best Weap, Prism Helm, Moon Armour, Prism Specs/Gold Enrg
Ayla : Prism Helm, Lumin Robe, Gold Enrg/Wallet
Crono: Rainbow, Black Mail, Wallet/Gold Stud

I only included this strategy to get proove she can be beaten without Boogie,
All I did was went all out, Robo starts with Laser Spin,

After this you’ll receive the Terra & Crisis Arm for Robo.

**>-22-<***
Northern Ruins Side Quest
***********

Now that we have Crono, Robo & Lucca’s best weapons, now we must get Frog’s &
Marle’s best weapons and some decent gear. Go and repair the ruins how you
normally would. The monsters here are very tough, as some can only be damaged
by magical attacks. Here I suggest a party of Crono, Lucca & Robo. At least
equip them with the following.

Crono: Rainbow & Gold Stud
Lucca: Taban Suit & SilverStud
Robo : Terra Arm & Wallet

You are definitely going to need a few Ethers here.

On the Sentry’s use Lucca & Crono’s dual Tech Fire Sword on the Sentry’s, or
Fire Sword 2 if it will hit more then one. These will be one-hit-kills. Despite
most damage comes from Crono’s Rainbow strength, which being physical will
normally miss, due to the fact the dual Tech Combo is magical based mean’s
it’ll hit :).

It’s important you heal between fights here. For skeletons & defuncts, I
suggest again using the Dual tech Fire Sword 2 again for 2300 Damage on each
Skeleton or normal Fire Sword for 1700 damage (one-hit-kills).

When you reach Cyrus’s grave, swap Frog in to get his Masamune, then go after
the Siren, Valkerye. Make sure you replace Robo with Lucca & give the Wallet
to Frog, because as of now Frog is stronger then Robo although Robo’s Uzzi
Punch does make up for it, Frog’s cheaper to use for now.

Now when you get close to the Shiva Edge & Valkerye you’ll face a few monsters
that can be a pain (save beforehand please). On the Base’s & Defuncts use a
single Fire Sword on each for a One-Hit-Kill, have Frog Leap Slashing a
separate enemy to the Fire Sworded ones to shorten the battle, because they can
and will kill you if your not careful.

Now when you reach the 3 Chests, of course say no. Return to 1000 AD, collect
the powered up Valerye, Shiva Edge & Moon Armour, Return to 600 AD to grab the
Kali Blade, Siren & Nova Armour. To be honest the only useful items there are
the Moon & Nova Armours.

Now it may be worth noting that Robo with the Prism Helm, Moon Armour & Gold
Enrg and Atropos’s build in Ribbon Robo will have a very nice 49 magic Defence
with 487 Hp. This Set Up will allow Robo to survive many normally devastating
magical attacks much easier.

**>-23-<***
Fiona’s Forest Side Quest
***********

This side quest I must empathise is the most important of all side-quests (not
counting the Black Omen) as I am pretty sure it’s impossible to defeat Lavos
without the Accessory gained from it.

Take Crono, Frog & Ayla to the Sunken Desert. You’ll probably already guessed,
since we’re bring Ayla rather Robo.. We’re going to be doing a bit of Charming.

When you reach Retinite’s level equip your characters like this.

Note: Make sure you have about 30 Full Tonics before this fight (buyable from
12000 BC, you should have plenty enough money for this). In fact if you have
about 200k Cash, max out your inventory with Mid & Full Tonics and buy about 40
Ethers & 40 Mid Ethers.

**********
Retinite
Top - 5000 Hp
Core - 1000 Hp
Bottom - 4000 Hp
**********

Crono: Rainbow, Wallet
Ayla : Prism Helm, Ruby Armour, Gold Stud
Frog : Masamune, Safe Helm, Moon Armour, Gold Enrg

The trick with Retinite is, with the Core still alive, when Retinite is
physically attack, he DOESN’T increase his defence. If the Core dies you must
alternate between Water & Physical attack.. Which is a real pain. Not only that
but the retinite uses a lot of very powerful attacks too.

The Core has exactly 1000 Hp. The best way to ‘heal’ the Core is by using Frog
& Crono’s dual tech Spire. Which will give it about 750 Hp.

The Top & Bottom both absorb from the bottom and do some painful attacks. Make
sure Crono is always alive (by reviving him) with any available character and
make Crono the priority healer (using Mid Tonics, Full Tonics & Lapis‘s), with
Frog taking second Priority.

Okay start by Charming a Speed Tab from the Core, have Frog use Water on the
Bottom to soften it. Now go all out on the Bottom with Ayla’s Triple Kick,
Frog’s Leap Slash & Crono’s REGULAR attack if you get a turn. After the Core
has been absorbed 3 times, HEAL IT IMMEDIATELY with a Spire, if your desperate
use Volt Bite. Make sure you keep your characters MP up with Mid Ethers &
Ethers.

The Bottom should fall quickly, now focus on the Top, by repeating the same
process the Top should fall very easily as well. The Core will run after the
Top & Bottom fall.

A/N: When I first tried this I killed the Core, the killed the bottom then the
top. Trust me I found it EXTREMELY difficult but it’s entirely possible - Water
- Physical - Water - Physical was tiring to put together and I kept forgetting
which one I was on, heh.

Now head over to Fiona, drop off Frog, collect him in 1000 AD, go through the
following scenes, save Lara because you’re a good guy :D and collect what you
came for, the GreenDream.

**>-24-<***
Ozzie’s Fort Side Quest
***********

Eurgh this is by no means necessary to completing a LLG but I promised at the
start that this guide details on all Side Quests and requires you collect every
character. Well that’s exactly what I am going to do.

Ok you know where this place is. Take Crono, Robo & Frog. We’re going to blast
our way in. Equip them..
Crono: Best Armours & Wallet
Frog : Prism Helm, Best Armours & Berserker
Robo : Safe helm, Best Armours & Gold Stud

When you face Flea, go all out with Crono normally attacking, Frog Berserker
attacking & Robo Uzzi punching. Easy.

Heal up and repeat same for Slash. Now in the room with the anvil that Ozzie
turns, go grab Magus’s best gear (which you’ll never use) and a Magic Tab
(which you will use). Before you leave the room, if you want the Items from
Slash, Flea & Ozzie, replace Robo with Ayla. Go outside, heal, save and equip
them..

Crono: Rainbow, Black Vest, Wallet
Frog : Masamune, Safe Helm, Black Mail, Prism Specs
Ayla : Prism Helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg

**********
Ozzie, Slash & Flea
Great Ozzie - 6000 Hp
Super Slash - 4000 Hp
Flea Plus - 4000 Hp
**********

Start with Slash, Charm off him and pray it HITS. Have Frog & Crono just heal,
if Crono dies Revive him with Frog only if you have a free turn. After the
Charm open with Dual tech Drop Kick for a nifty 2000 damage. You’ll eb hit by a
counter, if Crono is alive heal the injured character. Now hit Slash again with
another Drop Kick and Slash should be dead. Now the pressure is really let off
on you. Repeat the same for Flea now then Ozzie, using Elixers, Ethers &
Mid/Full Tonics when needed.

A/N: Your black armour should defend you against their Triple Attack Delta
Force which normally wipes the whole party out but instead heals you.

After go grab the Dash ring & Sight Cap, go sink Ozzie now you have finished
all side quests. The Black Omen & Lavos stand before you.

**>-25-<***
The Black Omen
***********

Inside here are several bosses, which are NOT easy by any means. Now would be a
good time to use every single Tab you have collected so far on Robo. This
should max/nearly max Robo’s Speed and give him a decent Magic Stat.

Now I suppose it may be forgivable to let you to to the end of time and replace
Crono as the lead member with someone of a lighter Level (put Crono in the #2
spot though) and fight Spekkio’s higher forms for more Magic Tabs to give to
Robo. Magus will come last, that will be the ONLY time you’ll ever use him.

Actually now I come to think of it, just out Magus in the lead, enter Spekkio’s
room, who will be in his upgraded form, then replace him with Crono. Rinse &
Repeat.

You can obtain an extra 3 Magic Tabs this way, although I sis have trouble with
the highest available form to me, but in that case I got very lucky with the
element armours (I gave them Rainbow/Mermaid Helms). If your having trouble
with the highest form, leave him or put Magus in the party.

Now make sure you have the following list of items:
99 Mid Tonics
99 Full Tonics
40 Ethers
40 Mid Ethers
15 Shelters
99 Revives
Lucky Charm

This lot of items should be plenty enough to get you through this place, and
you DO need a fair bit of luck. Now go to the Black Omen in 1000 AD (please
make sure its 1000 AD, and definitely not 12000 BC).

Now you must stand before the Black Omen. Bring Crono Frog & Robo with you as
they’re the best physical characters you have. Now equip them.

Crono: Wallet
Frog : Prism Helm, Black Mail, Silver Enrg
Robo : Prism Helm, Black mail, Gold Enrg

You’ll start off by fighting Laser Guards. Just wait these out, the healing
from your Black Mail is sufficient for one character to survive all the
explosions.

Now you MUST make a few preparations. Go to 65000000 BC and fight the Frog’s
there until Robo’s Hp is EXACTLY 319 (highest Hp possible ending with a 9). Now
I suggest you finish off the fight using Robo’s Uzzi Punch on the Frogs (with
the cursor in memory mode), Ayla’s beast toss & Crono’s Spin cut. HEAL WITH
ETHERS AND CRONO AND AYLA ONLY WITH MID TONICS.

**********
Mega Mutant
Top - 4500 Hp
Bottom - 4000 hp
**********

Crono: Rainbow, & Wallet
Robo (with 319 Hp) : CRISIS ARM, Prism Helm, Moon Armour & Prism Specs
Ayla : Prism helm, Lumin Robe, Sun Shades

This fight is NORMALLY EXTREMELY hard. I actually wrote out an entire strategy
for him to beat him in a different way but found out this way was MUCH easier.

Now with Robo’s Hp ending with a 9, Robo’s initial attack power is increased a
MASSIVE 4.5x, with the Prism Specs on Robo’s attack power is increased by
another 50% (4.5 x 1.5 =6.75 normal strength!). Now when Robo uses Uzzi Punch,
the punch is already about 3x the power of his normal attack. When used in the
dual tech between Robo & Ayla, Beast Toss, the Uzzi Punch power is increased
another 1.25x and has Ayla’s Rock Throw’s Strength added onto it (which has
itself been powered up 1.25x by the Sun Shades).

So with the above set up, when you use Best Toss Robo’s power is his normal
Uzzi Punch power increased by a factor of 8.4x! With some damage added.

Now this is pretty important in the fight.

As soon as the battle starts you must be VERY quick.

Use Beast Toss with Ayla & Robo for a huge 3700 Damage on the bottom, now have
Crono use Spincut, for an additional 500 Damage (THIS MUST HIT, RESET IF IT
DOESN’T). After these 2 devastating attacks the bottom should fall.

Now doing this BEFORE the bottom uses Chaotic Zone means you can avoid it
(although Both Robo & Ayla CAN survive this). Now you should have enough time
to get another beat toss in before the top attacks, if it does attack hope it
hits Crono, if not hope it hits Ayla. Use Uzzi Punch with Robo if Ayla falls.
The top should fall quickly too.

I ACTUALLY Managed to beat this boss in just 3 hits, whoa. This is how my
battle went.

A/N: Personally I has a lot of trouble pushing by buttons in time to get my
turns in, if your struggling, then try going into the config menu and putting
the battle speed gauge to 8 (slowest). This should hopefully give you a little
more time to get your turns in although it can be regarded as cheap. But you’re
fight this battle with a Team average of 12.3 so tell wingers to shh :).

Crono Spincut hits (500)
Robo with 319 Hp & Ayla uses Beast Toss on the bottom for 3700 Damage, Bottom
Dies
Robo & Ayla uses Beast toss again on Top for 3700 Damage
Top uses Mutant Gas on crono, killing him.
Top uses Blacken on Ayla, Killing her
Robo uses Uzzi Punch to finish the fight (doing 2200 Damage)

After this fast paced fight you finally have access to the Black Omen.

After this fight equip your Characters:

Crono: Rainbow, Prism Helm, Black Vest, Wallet
Robo : Terra Arm, Prism helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg
Ayla : Prism Helm, Black Mail, Silver Enrg.

Note: the Silver Enrg on Ayla will be replaced with a Gold Enrg shortly.

This Set-up will get you through most the Black Omen. As most of the monsters
here use Shadow Attacks. You want to charm a lot of the enemies here. You can
Charm an Extra Gold Enrg off the Synchrites. Give this extra Gold Enrg to Ayla.

Now go save & use a Shelter. Now head through and you’ll fight 2 Panels. EACH
Panel holds a charmable Speed Tab. So guess what we’re going to do. Charm them!
Panels aren’t the easiest of enemies at all, with about 1800 Hp and they do
quite heavy damage with missiles and rarely use healable Shadow attacks. Charm
one of the panels while Robo Uzzi Punches & Crono Attacks it, then repeat for
the other. If Robo isn’t ** Speed Yet, give the Tabs to him now. If he is, give
them to Crono. Heal at the Save point or use Mid Tonics & Ethers.

Now straight after this fight you’ll fight another 2 Panels, both holding a
Speed Tab each. Charm a Speed tab off each then kill them. Heal with Ethers &
Mid Tonics again. Give these to Robo, or Crono is Robo is Max Soeed. I had both
Crono & Robo at ** Speed now, so I gave MARLE the Extra Speed Tabs. Marle is
very important character later and needs ** Speed, do not waste your Speed Tabs
because they ARE limited.

Head through and equip a Red Armour on each character, now run from the Orbs in
there (you’ll absorb the Flare attacks).

In the next room are Metal Mutes, Equip a White Armour on each character & run
from them, however when you face Flycops, Charm an Extra Gold Stud off them,
this will come useful later.

Head up the teleporter & out onto a lift. MAKE SURE everyone is healed to Full
Hp & Mp. I suggest giving everyone Black Armour. If you face Goon’s on the
elevator, the chances are your going to have to open your save in the next few
seconds. If you face anyone else you should have no problem.

**********
Goons x2 (Worst case Scenario)
3000 Hp each
**********

I’ll treat these 2 like a boss for those of you who run into them. They have
about 3000 Hp each, and are VERY tough. Chances are you cant beat them. I
suggest you go all out with Crono’s Spin Cut, Robo’s Uzzi punch & Ayla’s Triple
Kick and just pray you can take one down, heal and take the other down before
your annihilated. That’s all the help I can give right now.

After the elevator equip Red Armour on everyone and run from the Orbs. Head
around 7 collect the Megalixer. Run from the next fight & head through the
door.

Head around & Collect the Magic seal then head through the door.

Grab the items in this room and Save & Use a Shelter.

Near the top right Nu is a Haste Helm! This Helm is magnificent as it gives a
character permanent Haste status. Give this Helm to Ayla for now.

In the next room is a Tubster. This Tubster respawns every time you leave the
room via the SOUTH exit (the one you just came out of), what’s more important
is that you can Charm a Power Tab each time off this Tubster. This Tubster
isn’t even that hard because it only counterattacks (painfully..
counterattacks).

IDEALLY you should Charm about 160 Power tabs off this Tubster to Max out Robo
& Crono’s Power. But that WILL take an absolute age. You must however charm
about 60 for now to max out Robo’s Power. Crono’s can wait till later (or now
if you can be bothered).

I suggest you give your characters the following equipment for this ordeal.

Crono: Wallet (well.. your not going to kill him anyway)
Robo : Anything
Ayla : Haste Helm & Gold Stud

-Move the Revives to the top of your item list to save yourself a headache.

Use Mid Ethers on Ayla when out of MP and just Revive her if her charm fails
(and gets killed by the counter).

You will most likely realise that the Power tabs don’t boost your characters
attack power by much. The reason being is that MOST of your attack power, even
at ** PWR comes from your weapon. Therefore this challenge is entirely possible
without charming a single Power Tab, but it’s much easier if you charm some
Tabs. 100 is a good Figure. 160 is great.
Now make sure you buy 99 Full Tonics from the Nu before you proceed after.

Afterwards SAVE and take a break. You should have AT LEAST maxed out Robo’s
strength, which with the Terra Arm gives him an overall 215 Power. I do advise
you MAX OUT Crono’s strength out here too, which requires 94 Power Tabs, this
makes Crono’s Confuse attack very deadly & useful indeed.

Proceed through to the next room, run from the Metal Mutes & the Gold Shields,
we don’t care about those. Now you’ll face sets of 4 Ruminators ahead. GREAT!
These Ruminators respawn just like the Tubster does, but you only need to run
into the VERY near by door & return for them to respawn. From these we get 2
things.

1.) Infinite Megalixers
2.) Loads of easy Tech Points (GREAT TIME TO GET MARLE TO LIFE 2)

I suggest you Charm the full 99 Megalixers from these. You most likely will not
need this many, unless you didn’t bother getting any Power Tabs, but you WILL
need at least 70 even with ** PWR on Crono & Robo. 99 Megalixers are a lot
easier to steal then say 40 Power tabs because you face 4 at a time and you
have to run a much short distance to re-encounter them.

Use the following Set-Up

Crono: Rainbow & Wallet
Marle: Siren & Hit Ring
Ayla : Haste Helm & Gold Stud

Charm the 4 Ruminators, after wait for them to kill each other until one
remains, then have Marle attack that one, hopefully stopping it and have the
others attack too.

After Marle has learned all her abilities and you still need Megalixers, check
with your other characters, Lucca in particular if you haven’t gotten all the
necessary abilities for the latter parts of the Black Omen (Lucca‘s Flare).
After all characters know their necessary techs, put Robo in to finish off
charming. MAKE SURE Marle learns her triple tech Lifeline with Crono & Robo.

After your done with your Megalixer charming, head back the way you came
(towards the Tubster you were previously Charming power Tabs from). Make sure
you have the White Armours equipped on everyone so you survive the Metal Mute,
we don’t want to be wasting all this work don’t we? Head back all the way to
the Save point, SAVE and use a Shelter.

Hopefully if you haven’t maxed Crono’s Power now, you can be bothered to Charm
around 30 towards Crono’s ** PWR now before carrying on.

Either way you will head on with Robo with ** Strength & Speed and 99
Megalixers. Personally I had Crono at 42 PWR as well when I got sick of
Charming.

Head through (again..) past the Ruminators with your Robo on Steroids (lol..),
Equip Red Armour & Run from the Orbs. RUN from the Goons, although you do now
have the power to beat them easily. Use a Beast Toss on each (Have Robo with
the Prism Specs equipped) if you must prove yourself.

Carry on through and grab the Power Seal, run form the next fight and GET THE
SPEED TAB IN THE CHEST. Now head into the next room.

There’s a Speed tab in a chest here as well, grab it and run through.

Go up the teleported and you’ll enter a big room. In this room are enemies
called Aliens. Despite what you might think, these monsters DO NOT respawn.
Meaning you can only fight them once. They do however hold a Magic Tab in each
of them, which you definitely want to Charm. Use an Uzzi Punch on each for a
One-Hit-Kill. Make sure you grab the Speed Tab in the chest in this room too.

Now give all your Magic Tabs to Robo and all the Speed Tab’s you’ve obtained so
far first to Crono then Marle.

Now go save up in the next room. The next fight is a toughie.

**********
Giga Mutant
Top - 6000 Hp
Bottom - 5000 Hp
**********

Giga Mutant is pretty much IMMUNE to all physical attacks, only Magic will do
any damage. Even Physical-Magic combo attacks don’t work because it’s not that
the physical attacks miss. It’s just that he’s got INSANE physical defence.
Therefore we have no choice to go to magic attacks. On top of everything his
attack set is pretty much random so it’s very hard to give you a clear-cut
strategy and he counters every Magical attack made against him with an absorb
MP attack (less then 10 MP).

We bring in Robo & Lucca for this task, set up your characters.

Crono: White Mail, Wallet
Robo : Haste Helm, White Mail, Gold Enrg
Lucca: Prism Helm, Taban Suit, Dash Ring

Lucca will help out by using her Flare & Mega Bomb, but Lucca will be using
Megalixers on large part. Robo will go all out with Shock (550 Damage if you
found most of the Magic Tabs available). Do not let up unless its to use an
Elixer on himself or to Revive Lucca.

You will need some luck here. Basically start out with Crono using a Barrier on
Robo. Robo uses Shock & Lucca uses Flare. Chances are Crono will be killed off
here. If not have Crono use a Shield on Robo too, have Lucca use Mega Bomb or a
Megalixer. Heal with Megalixers from then on having Robo relentlessly Shocking,
sadly due to the MP absorption, neither Lucca or Robo will get 2 shocks/Flares
in per full MP load, use Megalixers/Elixers to recover it and HP. After hitting
him about 10 times the bottom will fall. Now hit him another 2 times the top
will follow suit.

You must be patient in areas, use Megalixers relentlessly to keep up your MP on
both Lucca & Robo, do not worry about overusing them, we CAN go and get more
later, no problem.

I really wish I could give you more help here. Just pray you don’t see the
Poison Gas & Life Shaver, Robo has no status protection. Try and keep Crono
alive as long as possible to help out healing after he has produced his Barrier
& Shield. The dual tech Mega Volt will save you some MP on Robo’s behalf.

Now go back & SAVE and use a shelter. Proceed forth into the elevator, put Ayla
in your party and give Robo the Prism Specs, Ayla the Wallet & Crono the Gold
Stud. If you Face Goons, you know what to do, 1 Beast Toss on each will give
you 3200 damage on each with Robo’s max power. If it isn’t Goons. Show NO
mercy, lol.

Heal up and head out of the elevator, give everyone Black Armour. Shred the
Synchrites. When you hit the bats you’ll trigger a forced fight with 2 Goons.
Put the Prism Specs on Robo and deal with them with a Beast Toss on each (be
quick). Now go deal with the Tubsters in the same way (charm them beforehand if
you wish).

In the next room are 4 Panels. This will be far from easy, equip your
characters.

Crono: Rainbow, Black Vest, Wallet
Robo : Terra Arm, Prism Helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg
Ayla : Prism Helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg

What I discovered is that the missiles the panels fire are MAGIC type attacks.
Meaning the Safe helm will not do any good.

With Crono’s first turn have him QUICKLY use a Barrier on Robo, then have Robo
use a barrier on Ayla while Ayla charms one Panel. If Crono gets another turn
have Crono use a Lapis and have Robo use Shock as an opener (700 Damage to all
panels). Now have Robo focus on healing (with Lapis’s & Megalixers) & Uzzi
punching the Panels that Ayla charms.

Don’t be surprised if you die here, please try not to though. I personally
replaces Robo’s Gold Enrg with the Prism Specs, this let Robo do 2000 Damage
with Uzzi punch, killed each with a single hit. I had to use 2 Megalixers and 4
Full tonics here.

Give all these Speed Tabs to Marle. Now hopefully you’ve gotten nearly all the
Speed tabs up to this point and Marle is ** Speed from these Tabs. If not then
I feel sorry for you, there ARE more panels coming up however.. Just you’ll
face 5 of them. There’s also a chest just in front of you with a single Speed
tab inside, if you only needed 4 to Max your Speed on Marle then kill off one
of the Panels at the start then start charming.

In the following room you’ll meet one of the most boring yet one of the easiest
bosses in the game. Put Ayla in your party with Robo. All you need or this
fight are 30 Full Tonics, and I’m pretty sure you have close to 80.

**********
Terra Mutant
Top - ?
Bottom - 20000
**********

Your Set-Up should be:

Crono: Not Red Armour, Wallet (So he dies quick :) )
Ayla : Red Mail, Charm Top
Robo : Prism Helm, Red Mail, Gold Enrg

Ayla just charms the Muscle ring & Power Seal from the Top & Bottom. Now the
rest of the battle is very straightforward. Robo with the above set-up can
survive EVERY attack terra Mutant throws at him, the great news is Terra Mutant
is VERY SLOW when using his moves, so head with e Full Tonic after EVERY attack
except the really weak absorption from Robo attack. The bottom will eventually
die from losing 20000 Hp to the Top from absorption (what a silly monster, lol)
and the Top will soon die after it.

All in all this is a waiting game. Boil your kettle for a cup of tea while you
just heal n heal with Full Tonics. Do not bother reviving Ayla, she’s a waste
of Full Tonics.

After both parts fall, head back & save from your most boring ordeal. I only
used 20 Full Tonics here and could probably have done by with even fewer if I
used Mid Tonics on his weaker single target attack.

Now head out and prepare for your next fight (which is also very very easy).

*********
Lavos Spawn
Head - 10000 Hp
*********

Set up your characters

Crono: Rainbow, Wallet
Robo : Terra Arm, Prism Helm, Blue Mail, Gold Enrg
Ayla : Prism helm, Zodiac Cape, Charm top

The beak has a Haste Helm which you can charm. AND CHARM WE WILL!!! Start out
the fight with Crono using a Shield on Robo, Robo using a Barrier on himself &
Ayla Charming the Haste Helm off the head.

Now none of Lavos Spawns attacks should hurt Robo for more then 250 Damage (in
short you will always be able to survive 2 of Lavos‘s attacks from full Hp), if
Lavos Spawn does at attack that does less then about 220 or less Damage, then
your reasonably safe to attack with Uzzi Punch, heal after the next hit with an
Elixir or a Full Tonic. Basically keep repeating this sort of pattern,
Water Rise attack will heal Robo fully rather then killing him, which gives you
a real breather.

Dark Bomb MAY kill Robo being a second attack, but I’m fairly sure Robo does
have enough Magic Defence to survive all Attack + Dark Bomb combinations.

That’s all there really is to it, 9 Uzzi punches are more then enough to put
this fight away, Crono & Ayla should die quickly. So long as you avoid
attacking the shell, this fight is cake. Don’t worry about digging into your
elixirs, you should have accidentally charmed a few off that Tubster, and
they’re hardly going to be touched anymore.

If all of the above was complete gibberish to you then basically follow the
bottom attack pattern for Robo (after being Barriered & Shielded).

Spawn Attacks Robo
Robo Uzzi punches Head
Spawn Attacks Robo
Robo heals himself with Full Tonic/Elixir
Repeat

Head BACK and save & use a shelter.

Now is you haven’t gotten ** Speed on Marle yet, you got a job ahead of you. In
the room ahead of you are 5 Panels. Count the EXACT number of Speed Tabs you
need to max Marle out (if Marle is already ** Speed then see the alternate
strategy).

*********
Panels x5
1900 Hp each
*********

Set up your characters:

Crono: Varying Weapon, Haste Helm, Black Vest, Wallet
Robo : Titan Arm, Prism Helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg
Ayla : Prism Helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg

Okay I suggest you start this fight with Crono & Ayla using the Dual Tech
Falcon Hit, which will hurt every panel (aim at different panels until it
targets all 5) for varying damage depending upon Crono’s PWR. If you find you
kill all of the panels in One-Hit then I suggest you downgrade Crono’s weapon
to the Shiva Edge to weaken the attack slightly. If not keep the Rainbow on.

Have Robo in the meantime use a Barrier on himself. Now have Robo & Ayla kill
off the panels until you have the exact number you need to Charm, do not hold
back on healing with Megalixers. Use Robo’s Uzzi punch & Ayla’s Triple kick
unless you can get by with using less. Now when you have the number of panels
you need, have Ayla Charm one and have Robo Uzzi punch it.

The chances are, if you have a lot of panels that need Charming (4 or all 5),
you’ll probably be overwhelmed by the panels missiles. I can only say to you,
hope that they use their Shadow based attacks over their missiles more so that
you can get a bit of a breather.

Another useful strategy is if you ONLY need 3 of less Speed Tabs. Have Robo
start out with AREA BOMB and have Crono & Ayla use Falcon Hit. This should kill
the 2 Closest to Robo & hurt the rest. If you aren’t strong enough to do this
then equip the Prism Specs on Robo or Crono. You’ll quickly realise that 3
panels are not enough to overwhelm Robo & Ayla if Robo constantly uses
Megalixers until Ayla has charmed the 3 Speed Tabs, finish the other 3 with
Shock.

If you need no Tabs then use Falcon hit on all 5 as before but follow it up
with a single Shock.

Now save & use a shelter. Equip your party members (I’m sure you’re sick of
listening to me tell you what to equip).

Crono: Rainbow, Haste Helm, Black Mail Haste Helm & Gold Stud
Robo : Terra Arm, Prism Helm, Blue Mail, Gold Stud
Ayla : Prism Helm, Black Mail, Gold Enrg

If you have ANY spare Speed Tabs left over, give them all to Ayla now.

A/N: you probably noticed no-one is wearing the Wallet, that is because the
next boss fights give NO Exp. Which is great because Crono can now be used for
his Confuse. Now I DO advise setting your battle speed slower (battle speed 8
may be a bit extreme).

**********
Zeal
11500 Hp
**********

She had very high evade, and likes to keep your party at 1Hp. Don’t bother
healing, only revive the party members she kills one at a time. She has no
party-hitting attacks that she can follow up her Halation attack with, so do
not worry about this attack.
I suggest using 4 Beast Tosses (2400 Damage with Robo & max Power) as these
never miss. Have Crono use 2 Confuses, if Crono hits anything good then this
should be enough to end the fight. If not have Ayla use a Triple Kick.

After this Zeal Throws you into the Mammon Machine.

**********
Mammon Machine
18000 Hp
**********

The Mammon Machine has 2 phases. Modifying Phase & Attacking Phase. Using any
Magical attacks during the Modifying Phase will increase the Mammon Machine’s
Attack power in the Attack phase & using any Physical Attacks increases the
Mammon Machine’s defence during the Attack Phase.

During the modifying phase you will do NOTHING but use a Megalixer on everyone

When the mammon machine releases it’s stored energy, Ayla will survive. DO NOT
bother healing, have Ayla revive Robo, then have Robo use 3 Uzzi Punches (1400
damage) and have Ayla use 1 or 2 Triple Kicks, depending on if your fast
enough.). Soon after you’ll be hit by 2 or 3 Point Flares (hits one character).
Make sure one revives the other straight after the first Point Flare so one
will be alive after the second, revive again. You should have enough time here
to get 1 more Uzzi Punch in. Sometimes you’ll see a 3rd Point Flare, revive
after this like the previous 2. After this the Mammon Machine will return to
it’s Modifying Phase.

Basically in order

'Mammon Machine Modifies All Energy'
Use 1 Megalixer
WAIT

'Mammon Machine Releases Stored Energy' - 470 Damage to Ayla, kills Robo &
Crono
Ayla should barely survive
Ayla uses a Revive on Robo
Robo uses 3 Uzzi Punches on Mammon Machine
Ayla uses 1 or 2 Triple Kicks
Point Flare

Survivor revives fallen character

Point Flare

Survivor revives fallen character

Perhaps 1 more Uzzi punch can be squeezed in after the 2nd point flare

Sometimes a 3rd Point Flare (revive again)

Repeat

If lucky, after 4 or 5 cycles the mammon Machine should fall. If your unlucky
and have missed a few Uzzi Punches, it may take or 5 or 6 .If you find you
simply can’t survive the stored energy, then you’ve done something wrong, your
probably equipped different (MUST be a Prism Helm on Ayla). I’m 100% sure Ayla
with the above set-up and can survive the stored energy if you do not touch the
Mammon Machine in it’s Modifying Phase.

Either way this boss is pretty easy, now you face the real Zeal (not so easy).

A/N: After the mammon Machine releases it’s stored energy, I found Ayla ALWAYS
has 79 Hp after this. I suppose the figure is always exact. If you REALLY can’t
survive this attack with Ayla and the above set-up, then your going to need to
use Barriers on Ayla.

All in all this battle just takes a little while.

*********
Real Zeal
Head: 20000 Hp
Hands - I don’t care :)
*********

Zeal is quite hard..

Start the fight with Crono using a Megalixer, Robo Uzzi Punching the Head &
Ayla Charming a pretty but useless Prism Dress from the left hand (and thus get
hit by it’s counter). Now here’s the list of attacks.

2 Different Shadow Laser attacks: Healing to Ayla&Crono and hurts Robo 130-180
Shadow Gear: Heals Crono & Ayla and Kills Robo
Hexagon Mist: Kills Crono, Heals Robo and sometimes kills Ayla (Ayla can
usually survive this from Full Hp)
Stargate / Lighting: Kills a Single character
Halation - Hp of all characters goes to 1

It’s a VERY good thing that you got 2 Haste Helms. Because these make this
battle much easier. With the Haste Helms, Robo & Crono (both with ** Speed) get
their turns VERY quickly (just compare them to Ayla..). With the Speed they
offer you should ALWAYS be able to keep on top of reviving. Whenever a
character falls, use one of your 2 surviving characters to revive (I highly
advise the first character that gets his/her turn). Ayla should use Megalixers
on every single one of her turns if she is not reviving.
If Crono is out of Mp and Ayla has a while before her turn, have Crono use a
Megalixer so Ayla can have her turn free to Revive if need be.

The threat in the battle really is the Hexagon Mist, while you’ll probably face
at least once, Where Robo is sometimes the lone survivor. However with the
Haste Helm he should easily have enough time to revive Crono then Ayla (Crono
is far superior to Ayla in this battle). The only attack that will kill Robo
immediately after a Hexagon Mist is a Stargate / Lighting, just hope you don’t
see that sort of scenario.

Basically if you keep priority in reviving fallen characters with your first
available character, and using Megalixers/Uzzi Punch/Confuse when you have your
characters available, this battle will not be so tough. The best way to go
about the battle is to ONLY target the head.

If you get hit by Halation, pretend it never happened because you should assume
all attacks that hit you that you can’t absorb, will kill, the only form of
healing to Hp should be Megalixers, which are primarily there to recover MP for
all party members.
Basically below is the list of the role’s of the 3 characters.

Robo: Uzzi Punches the Head & Revives on demand ONLY
Crono: Uses Confuse on the Head and uses Megalixers + Revives on demand
Ayla: Only uses Revives & Megalixers on demand ONLY

After Zeal falls you’ll go up against Lavos, who will take the form of previous
bosses you fight.

*********
Lavos (Hedgehog Form)
Various Hp
*********

Swap Ayla out for Frog & Give Robo the Prism Specs & Crono the Sun Shades

Dragon Tank:
Attack each bit once..

Guardien & Bite:
Single Uzzi Punch to the Main Body

Heckran:
2 Shocks off Robo

Zombor:
Single Uzzi Punch on each bit is enough

Masa & Mune:
Regularly attack it a few times..

Zombor:
Crono uses Lightning & Robo uses Uzzi Punch Twice & Frog Leap Slashes once

Magus:
You know what to do, Robo can do fire (Mega Bomb) Lightning (Shock) and Shadow
(Laser Spin) and Frog can do Water, then use Uzzi punch & Leap Slash and he
shouldn’t get a single Dark Matter in.

Tyrano & Azala:
Gold Stud & Red Armour for all. Kill Azala with Shock & Annihilate Tyrano with
your favourite techs.

Keep Red Mail on all and pummel the middle.

Actual Lavos (10000 Hp):

Equip Robo & Ayla:

Robo: Haste Helm, Nova Armour, Gold Enrg
Ayla: Prism Helm, Prism Dress, Gold Enrg

This set-up should allow Robo & Ayla to survive all attacks thrown at them.

Start out with Robo using Uzzi Punch & Ayla standing by.

Basically just have Robo CONSTANTLY use Uzzi Punch on every turn. Ayla should
be fast enough to get turns against Lavos in a 1:1 ratio. So Ayla should wait
until Lavos uses an attack, then use a Megalixer immediately after it. This
will keep your HP & MP both full throughout.

Now as soon as you get in, you will SAVE and exit through the gate, you
obviously.. need to make a few preparations before the final showdown.

**>-26-<***
Lavos Preparation & Lavos Final Battle
***********

I am VERY sure your pretty relieved of completing the Black Omen, I myself am
relieved from all that typing & explaining. I really hope you didn’t have too
hard a time simply because sometime on my play though made it easier that I
didn’t note e.g. I did something that allowed my characters to survive a
certain attack that you simply can’t find a way to survive. But if that’s the
case, the e-mail address is at the top & bottom.

Now we near the end of our challenge. At the end of our quest are 2 battles
with Lavos. Now for a note, you will have noticed EVERY single attack you have
encountered so far has been survivable to the point where you avoid a Game
Over. In short, you haven’t faced a single party hitting attack that will kill
every party member no matter how heavily armoured you are and cannot be
absorbed in any way.

Unfortunately.. Lavos, BOTH forms have attacks that WILL wipe out your entire
party, and even if you make Robo or Ayla a Tank with a Barrier & shield. There
is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THAT Robo or Ayla can survive.

I repeat, Lavos’ BOTH forms have attacks that hit the entire party, and will
kill all of them at the same time, and it completely unabsorbable. Giving your
party members maximum defence and Barriers + Shields don’t nearly decrease the
damage enough to make them survivable.

There IS light on the horizon however. One way to survive an inevitable party
hitting attack is by equipping the Greendream on a character. If all 3 party
members fall, you will not get an instant Game Over and the party member with
the Greendream equipped will be revived.

This only works once though.

Your final option is a Triple Tech. Crono, Marle & Robo have a Triple Tech
called Lifeline. This Tech will give each of your 3 characters an Auto-Revival
status, the same type as the Greendream grants. This is fantastic, so when all
your party members fall after you have used this Tech, they will be revived.

Of course you are not revived with Full Hp, but this is one of those times were
you must take when you get and run.

If Crono isn’t ** PWR or you have less then 50 Megalixers take the Epoch to 600
AD and re-enter the Black Omen (make sure you give the Wallet to Crono).
Fortunately all the forced encounters are all gone now, we don’t need to
re-fight the bosses, head through until you reach those 2 Nu’s again & Save.
Now I HIGHLY recommend you Max out Crono’s PWR if you haven’t done so already.
If you need to, Charm the Ruminators just above until you have 50 Megalixers.
After you have done all this escape using the Nu.

Now your most probably nearly empty on Revives, go to any shop and buy 99 of
them (you will not need half of that but just get them..).

Now when you have ** PWR on Crono & Robo, ** Speed on Crono, Robo & Marle, 50
Megalixers 3 Full Tonics and lots of Revives, you should be ready to take on
Lavos.

Set-Up you characters for the final time

Crono: Rainbow, Haste Helm, White Mail, Gold Stud
Marle: White Mail, Gold Stud
Robo : Terra Arm, Haste Helm, Nova Armour, Greendream

Go to 1999 AD via the Bucket or Epoch, whichever you fancy.

HIGHLY ADVISED you set Battle Gauge Speed to 8 (slowest).

As soon as you get in, save at the save point and pray for some luck. Head up
and you’ll run into Lavos.

*********
Lavos Form 2
Body: 25000 Hp
Left Arm: 7000 Hp
Right Arm: 9000 Hp
*********

A/N: I advise you re-read the mechanics section right at the beginning of this
guide.

As you can see from the Hp listings, you got yourself a formidable opponent.
Now you are prepared, remember when I was rambling on about earlier, an attack
that will wipe your entire party out no matter what you do. Well this attack
will most likely happen before you even get a turn!

Okay you run into Lavos. Lavos will start the battle with Lavos Beams / Doors
of Doom Open attack. That will ANNIHILATE your party. Now the mechanics
explained at the start of the guide are what’s important here. If Robo has his
turn available when he’s killed, your stuffed, Reset & try again because Robo
will start with Zero ATB & has to fill up totally Un-Hasted, he will not make
it.

After a few Resets you’ll eventually get a situation where Robo is killed, most
probably with a full bar but without his turn menu up, if you cant get this,
fight Spekkio between attempts (SAVE at the save point too).

A/N: I always seemed to find switching Marle & Robo around in your party just
before the battle to work well.

Battle starts, everyone is wiped out by Lavos Beams, Robo is revived by
Greendream. After a few resets you’ll have a situation where Robo will then
IMMEDIATELY have a turn available after being killed.
Robo should use a Full Tonic/Elixer/Megalixer on himself and WAITS. Robo should
then get hit by a projective attack from Lavos’s Right Arm (290 Damage), Robo
IMMEDIATELY uses another Full Tonic/Elixer/Megalixer on himself and gets hit by
a similar projective from Lavos’s Left Arm (another 290 damage). Now have Robo
Revive Crono then Marle, wait for everyone to have a turn then use LIFELINE.
Soon after 2 party members will be killed & revived by 2 more Projectile
Attacks. Recast Lifeline afterwards then use a Megalixer. Your party will
immediately be killed off again by Lavos Beams & Revived. Recast Lifeline now
you should have plenty of time to assault the Left Arm with Confuse & Uzzi
Punches. Crono & Robo with Haste helms will usually get 2 Turns to Marle’s 1,
Marle will use Megalixers CONSTANTLY as if they were drinking water.

Here is a summary of the beginning of the battle.

Lavos Lasers - Kills Party
Robo Revived
Robo Immediately uses Full Tonic & WAITS
Right Arm Projectile Attack (290 Damage to Robo)
Robo Immediately uses Full Tonic after previous attack
Left Arm Projectile Attack (290 Damage to Robo)
Robo quickly uses a Revive on Crono
Robo quickly uses a Revive on Marle
All 3 Party members cast Lifeline
Left & Right Arm Projectile Attacks (Kills 2 Characters)
2 Fallen Members are Auto-Revived
All 3 Party members cast Lifeline
One party member should use a Megalixer
Lavos Lasers - Kills Party - LONG PAUSE till next attack
Party is Auto-Revived
All 3 Party members cast Lifeline
Party launches ALL OUT assault on Left Arm, Crono constantly using Confuse,
Robo Uzzi punch & Marle constantly using Megalixers.

After the beginning rush the battle becomes much slower-paced. Now continue
going all-out only keep in mind, IMMEDIATLY recast lifeline every time 2 or
more party members have been relieved of their Auto-Life status. Kill the Left
Arm, then the Right, the Focus on the Main Body. By following the very basic
rule Crono uses Confuse, Robo uses Uzzi Punch and Marle uses Megalixers except
when to cast Lifeline this battle should be VERY easy after the opening of
attacks that you barely managed to survive. All in all you should actually
really ENJOY this battle.

Note: If just one person is relieved of their Auto-Revival status then just
manually Revive them after they’re killed again.

Eventually the Main Body falls, nw you face your final adversary, the final
obstacle in your Low Level Quest.

**********
Lavos Form 3
Left Bit: 3000 Hp
Centre Bit: 10000 Hp
Right Bit (Core) 30000 Hp
**********

This battle will go similarly to the first. Basically the first thing that
should be on your mind is LIFELINE. Bring it up ASAP, hopefully Crono has 4 or
more MP left when you enter this battle allowing you to cast Lifeline off the
bat. If not then you got a bumpy start, use a Megalixer straight away with
Crono or Robo and wait for his turn to become available again then cast
Lifeline. If the bits keep picking you off with single attacks, keep reviving
until everyone has their turn, THEN get Lifeline up.

Now repeat the process you did previously, only this time your going to need to
use Lifeline a bit more because the Bits attack you more frequently (everything
is a 1 Hit Kill except Evil Star, which basically does nothing). Again if 2 or
more characters have been relieved of Auto-Life, get Lifeline up again ASAP.

Focus on taking the Left Bit out first, a single fully connecting Confuse with
a fully connecting Uzzi Punch will do the job. After the Left Bit falls, keep
up lifeline and go all out on the Centre bit, with Marle constantly pumping
Megalixers and Crono + Robo constantly pumping the bit with Uzzi Punches &
Confuses. After that bit falls, the Core is all yours. You know what to do.

After the bits are revived make sure your Lifeline is still up and repeat the
process again. You shouldn’t receive too many blows in this fight thankfully
and hence shouldn’t need to cast Lifeline too much. Try to enjoy this battle, I
did.

Eventually the Core WILL fall, CONGRATULATIONS you completed the LL Game
challenge!

Enjoy your ending!

-ALL Tab location's noted

-Exp list for those who wan;t to attain a perfect low-level but without FAQ
help on bosses etc

-Revised strategies (with help form the Forums)

-And finally perhaps an extension FAQ for the greatest challenge of all,
to defeat all 3 forms of Lavos at Ocean palace. I have yet to accomplish this
myself and may proove to be beyond my intelligence & patience. Perhaps a true
CT Guru can do this but I'll do my best!!!

Final Notes
***********

I would like to thank a lot of people who gave me help on some form or another,
you know who you are. I am pretty sure this FAQ is about 95% complete as it is
now, with just the Golem & Magus optional bosses that need a strategy written
for.

MAJOR CREDIT goes to CyberSarkany - he found a LOT of errors in my guide and
helped me correct them, a MAJOR one was he actually found a bug in CT that
no-one has taken note of before. See the Boss Magus for more.

I would like to apologise if you found some parts were rushed but hey, this FAQ
is 170 kB long, and I am extremely tired.

Your FINAL GAME LEVELS should be

Crono: Level 1
Marle: Level 4
Lucca: Level 15
Frog : Level 15
Robo : Level 16
Ayla : Level 20
Magus: level 37

You used a team of Crono, Marle & Robo to defeat Lavos, and hence you beat the
game with a Team average of 7. You finished the game with a Non-Magus party
average of 11.83 and a Magus included party average of 15.43, as Magus was an
optional character.

I am 99.9% sure it’s impossible to get any lower then that. You may well be
able to get a Team average of 15.67 by shifting ALL exp normally hit onto Robo
onto another available character (other then Marle & Crono) but I suspect it’ll
cost on your party average part. IF YOU DO find a way where you can make a
lower party average, please e-mail me.
