-Cheap Scoring Technique-

If you're one of those people who can't seem to score a goal for hell, then I
hope you find this method helpful. Do not use this if you want to play the game
correctly. Duh.

Pass the puck to anyone (it doesn't really matter; preferably the center) and
then skate along the far side line (the one at the top of the screen) towards
the goalie. As soon as you get about 2 inches (on screen length) from the line
that the front of the goal is on, immediatly dash diagonally downwards toward
the right side of the goal (the side as if you were skating) and then streak
past the goalie and quickly shoot the puck as soon as you can get even with the
right side. You should be able to shoot it past the goalie faster than he can
react, and it's a sure goal everytime. Don't ask me how I found this out, luck
played a big part. If you need a more detailed explanation (God I hope not),
email me and I'll see what I can do.

       | '..'* | | it rarely happens. This is a difficult technique to
       | * _ | learn at first, but after some experimenting you
       | * | | should get it right.

*NOTE*
This can also be done oppositely from bottom to top. Due to the fact that the
view is somewhat obstructed and because it seems easier from the top, we
recommend that you do it the way shown.

     Hope that helps!

-Face Offs-

There is an unseen art to winning face offs that you may have not known. It
involves patience and timing. As soon as the puck drops out of the referees
hand, swing. DO NOT wait until the puck hits the ice. This is a sure way to get
a 80% chance of getting the puck every face off. If you miss on the first swing
or you were too early, immediatley swing again. This technique should greatly
improve your chances of winning the face off. If you have any further questions
feel free to email us.

-Fights-

Fighting is one of the neat features this games has. You can get into an all
out brawl immediatley with the other team by pausing and pressing intimidate.
All players will begin punching and then you will start fighting.

*NOTE* You can only use the intimidate button once a period. A player loses the
fight when his stick is completly white.

-Fight Controls-

Move away from opponent: Press control pad left or right

Punch: Press A, B, or Y button

Grab Opponent: Press control pad Up and the B button

Block Punches: Press control pad Down

Upper cut: Press B and control pad Down at the same time

-Defense-

Defense can get very hard, so here is a strategy that will get less goals
scored against one's team: When the puck is stolen and the opponent has
possesion, move any one player back to defend. Don't skate around aimlessly
trying to check the player with the puck, because it usually doesn't work.
Instead, have the other defensive players check the opponent with the puck so
the person that is being controlled doesn't have to. Instead, have the person
being manually controlled be a backup and guard other defensemen. This is a
very good strategy for those new to the game or have trouble with defense.
Most of the time the defensive CPUs on one's team will end up with the puck and
from there you can start on offense (unless your team has poor defense and a
poor goalie, but that's a different problem).

Small Review of "Wayne Gretzky and the NHLPA AllStars"
===============================================================================

This game for the Super Nintendo is a fairly large and enjoyable hockey game
for its age. Packed with stats, full NHL licenses, and many modes of play,
there is a lot this game has to offer. This review will be divided up into five
categories: Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, Funfactor, and Difficulty.

Graphics: 8/10 WGNA's graphics are quite acceptable and colorful. Little clips
of real game footage plays everytime you score a goal, and its pretty impres-
  sive for the SNES.

Sound: 5/10 The sound is allright, but the wierd little buzzes, cheers, and the
almost constant sound of the skates-against-ice get rather annoying. The
music is fairly "bouncy" and enjoyable, yet gets repetative. The sound isn't
  the games best quality.

Gameplay: 8/10 This game is surprisingly fun, and has a nice variety of play so
it doesn't get repetitive. For instance: If one of your player's gets too
aggresive, a fight can errupt between the two skaters which ends up with a
button-smasher of a braul. The camera zooms in on the two players so you can
see what you're doing throughout the slugfest. The loser is sent to the
penalty box, so don't think nothing will come of the fight. The faceoffs also
put you in a different perspective from the 45° View so there can be more
  depth to the faceoff.

Many options keep the game from going down a straight path and get boring,
like the changeable period times. There are many different modes, like prac-
tise and tournament mode which puts you into a learning session and a Lose-
  and-your-out type of thing, respectively.

One major downside is that the quickness of the other team can be somewhat
overwhelming, and the controls can be a little difficult to get a handle on.
Other then that, shooting and passing are very straight forward and it
shouldn't take one too long until they start scoring hat tricks and pulling
  off One-Timers.

Fun Factor: 7/10 If your a hockey fan, this game should be easy to enjoy. The
fights, once mastered, are fun and add a nice mix to the usual chase-the-
  puck-and-shoot style of the game.

Difficulty: Medium-Hard. The other team is usually very quick and will get a
lot of shots off, so one needs to score a lot of goals to keep up. It isn't
so hard, though, that you will get frustrated and throw your cartridge
against the wall and grin at the destruction you've made to the game.

Closing: "Wayne Gretzky and the NHLPA Allstars" is a fun game, but good luck
finding it in stores. Its rather rare and not well known, but if you can get
your hands on it, try it out.

Final Score: 8/10
