How do I beat the spider?

I can't defeat the spider boss in the jungle.

Using Dixie is the smartest move on this level so try to keep safe playing as her. Kiddy's barrel throwing is awkward and will miss often. My strategy would be to hold the barrel with Dixie's hair above her and jump so that the barrel breaks and hits the boss's head. Continue this and stay to the sides of the tree, doding it's bobbing attack. Later, the spider will spit projectiles. These are TOUGH to dodge and will require some memorization and jumping or rolling a lot. Once again, Kiddie is awful at this and Dixie is the best. Hope this helps.

While I mostly agree with the person who responded before me, I want to add one little detail. When the spider starts shooting those projectiles, there's a very high chance that one of those will hit the barrel held by Dixie, since she holds it up in the air. You can hug the wall and pray they don't hit you (I don't think the directions they shoot out are randomized) or switch to Kiddy and get a jump start on practicing your aiming while throwing a barrel up. It will come in handy much later in the game, and especially when you don't have Dixie at your disposal.

In response to Big Sticken, you can also just put the barrel down when Arich shoots the goo, and it'll be fine
