The games are completely different. The SNES version starts out with you rolling off a slab in the morgue and having to learn keywords and going up against the corporation/people that set out the hit out on you. You use karma to level up your small list of stats to very high levels and attain magic from your spirit guide.
Genesis Shadowrun is more true to the P&P RPG system, where you can use karma to level up yourself and fellow runners. The number of runners, types of weapons and magic, and even cyberdecks and cyberware availability is much larger in this version. You can even pick if you want to be a Gator Shaman, Decker, or Street Samurai to start with. Both games have completely different storylines, to boot.
