Super Turrican

"Oh no a metroid ripoff...wait this ones good"

A few years back I had no games to play and about 30 bucks to spend. I went down to roses and saw a copy of Super Turrican I looked at the back of the box the game looked cool so I bought it. When I played it the first thing i thought was metroid but I still loved this game.

Graphics-9/10
The visuals of Turrican were simply amazing. But games I have played like Dk country were just better in terms of in game visuals. But I don't really care, the graphics were still good but I don't care for graphics.

Music/Sound-8/10
The sound effects are great the blasts and every thing. But the one thing I could never get over was the annoying squeaky noise that it made when you rolled. But my major complaint was with the music. At first I thought the music was amazing but through out the game it basically stays the same and gets REALY annoying.

Game play-10/10
A huge metroid rip off but at least they kept the good Game Play. When you play you start out with a basic weapon and you shoot everything in sight also you get three bombs that you should save for the pretty challenging bosses. Also the gun may be horrible but you also have a freeze weapon that is pretty useful. But aside from the freeze ray they have upgrades for your main weapon. There is the ball one the fire one and one other one. The fire one just upgrades your basic weapon and the ball one which is my favorite one bonuses off walls and I forgot what the other one does. Also from your main weapons you are able to roll (just like metroid) when you roll you are able to plant mines, but this technique is basically useless.

Control-10
The control is quick and responsive for the most part. Even though every once and awhile the jumping would mess up and at times the control felt a little sticky but overall it was good.

Overall-9
if you passed this game up because it looked to much like metroid you were right (the metroid thing not that you should not pick it up because you should). But if you liked metroid at all you really should buy this game you could find it for around 10-15 bucks and it will be worth it. This in my opinion is the best Rip off ever.
