"Genocide 2 is fun to play at first, but soon becomes too frustrating to finish."

Genocide 2 is a little-known, side-scrolling platformer/beat-'em-up involving a giant robot and another robotic entity known as “Betty” that follows the main character around to help in battle.

The graphics in this game aren't bad for the SNES era. They're just about average for their time. However, the enemies and characters themselves aren't very original. Many of the enemies are repeated over and over again throughout the levels and even the ones that aren't repeated aren't anything special. They're your basic robotic enemies.

The levels include a bunch of different locales, including many places you would find in a normal city. The game consists of many “stages” which consist of three areas. At the end of each stage, in area three, you face a boss.

However, the platforming in this game isn't that great. Due to the large character you control, jumping from platform to platform can become rather cumbersome. Throw in constantly respawning enemies along with flying enemies who always seem to be in the way no matter what and you have a flaw with the basic component of this game.

The fighting isn't too great either. You can use Betty, along with a few other weapons to go with your basic sword weapon. The problem with these weapons is that many of them run out too soon. Then you are stuck slicing away repeatedly with your tiny sword. Adding in other, better weapons would have made this game much better.

Life in this game is easy to come by. You have a large bar of health at the bottom of the screen. When depleted, a new bar starts out. It isn't too easy to run out of life, but life only replenishes in between stages, not areas. However, you may soon find yourself low on life after attempting to make the same jump over and over again without being hit by that flying enemy above your head and the constant stream of enemies walking on the platform onto which you're trying to jump.

The sound is very good in this game. The background music fits well and doesn't seem too bothersome. The noises enemies make are very annoying. They always seem to make a strange squealing sound that is repeated over and over again until the enemy is defeated. Then it is repeated again with the next enemy.

Genocide 2 isn't a bad game by any means. At first, it seems fun to play. However, by the end, it becomes too frustrating to continue to play. Overall, Genocide 2 gets a 6/10.
