Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Review by MisterMarioMan
"This is why I play video games."
INTRODUCTION::
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is my Personal Favorite Video Game of all Time. This Game features many Awesome, Unique, and Re-memorable Characters, Areas, and Story lines that have been unmatched by any Mario, Nintendo, or even any Video Game before or After it. This great game truly did a lot for many gamers (I know it did something special to one!) It was a game that comes once in a lifetime, and it truly blew many players out of the dust. If you ever get a chance to play this game, I strongly urge you to take it. You wont be sorry. I know I wasn't.
OVERALL: 10/10
Super Mario Rpg: Legend of the Seven Stars has everything you could ever want and much much more. Memorable Characters, An Interactive Gameplay, An Awesome Story, Beautiful Graphics, An Excellent Music Score, A Perfect Setting, an amazing Replay Value, plenty of Difficult Side quests, and even some hilarious Easter Eggs. This is a game that truly had it all. Is it any wonder why it receives such a perfect score?
GAMEPLAY: 9/10
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Knows how to do its gameplay very well. The Gameplay this Game features is amazing, with the Ability to Jump on Things to get to higher places (making for some very interesting dungeon layouts), Used Timed hits in battle, and Also to use Timed Defenses in a fight. There are also plenty of fun mini games which make good use of the controller, Such as the Booster Hill mini game or the Mine Cart mini game, and even a Racing Yoshi mini game. They really know how to use the Super Nintendo Controller to it's fullest extent.
MUSIC: 9/10
Beautiful symphony's have been composed for this Game, such as the Melodious Battle Theme, the Astounding Boss Battle Themes, and the Amazing Mushroom Kingdom Theme, that remake the original Mario Bros. music as well as Rebirth them. This game is amazing in the sound department, and is one of the things that truly make Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Really Shine.
STORY: 10/10
One of the First mario games in the series where the whole Story isn't just rescue Peach (Although she of course needs to be rescued at one point) The story is actually about how Strange Travelers from another land, such as Exor, and the Evil Smithy, Destroys the Star Road and Take over Bowsers Keep. This leads Mario and Freinds on a wild hunt to find the 7 star peices and put the world back into order. Of course, its not that easy, as Smithys Henchman, like Mack, the Sword, Bowyer, A Walking, Talking Bow, Punchinello, A Bomb crazy maniac, Yardovarch, an incompetent employee in it for the promotion, and of course the Axem Rangers (A Hilarious Spoof of the Power Rangers) are trying to stop the team at all costs. This is how one of the greatest tales of Mario and gang go.
CHARACTERS: 10/10
This game features all the classic characters that we know and love, such as Super Mario, King Bowser, and Princess Toadstool, as well as other great new characters, such as Geno and Mallow. Those characters alone are just the playable ones! There is also the sneaky trickster Croco, the ever clueless Booster, and even a Giant Sword, Exor! There are some great bosses too, like the Incredibly Hungry Belome, the ever steamed Bowyer, the Salty Sea Dog, Johnny, and the Gigantic Monster of a Pirahna Plant! Those cast of characters make Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars virtually unmatched. However, there is one problem. Wheres the Man in Green, the Eternal Understudy, the little known Mustachioed one, Luigi? This game started a chain of games where Luigi did not appear, such as Super Mario 64, and Super Mario Sunshine. This game also set up one of gamings biggest rumors, that Culex, an optional boss, is actually in Final Fantasy IV. This rumor has been discredited, however, as even though Culex does use some of Final Fantasy IVs Boss Music, he does not appear anywhere in Final Fantasy IV.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
The Graphics are simply astounding. It doesnlt even look like sprites are being used, its so impressive. I have serious doubts that It is even 16 Bit, its that impressive. It is almost as good as the Nintendo 64 graphics, and could be a direct port to the PSOne without needing a graphics update to 32 bit. It needs to be that Impressive to, or else Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars would not be the great astounding game that it is.
SETTING: 9/10
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has the most amazing settings ever. Mario and Friends go from a Cozy little Pad to a Rank and Disgusting Sewer to a Mysterious Confusing Forest to a Tower owned by a Man who doesnt know what a Cake is to a Hill Flowing With Stars and Wishes to a Sunken Ship where a friendly shark resides to a City full of Monsters and even to a Giant Volcano! This Game has Mario and Friends going all over to some places even weirder than the ones that I already described! This really helps the game seem even better than it already is.
REPLAY VALUE: 9/10
With so many things to do, you may very well end up replaying the game over and over to obtain everything. The secret Treasure Chests, Finding and Defeating Culex, doing 100 Jumps (At Once!) Its all very fun and may very well require 2 or 3 replayings of the game before finally completing it all.
SIDEQUESTS: 10/10
There are so many things to do, its not even funny. The hidden treasure chests, Beating Culex, Going to Yoshi's Island to beat the Bragging Boshi in a race, doing 100 Consecutive Jumps, and even visiting a casino are just a few of the sidequests this game has you doing. It really helps the game and fills it with quite a bit of meat. With so many interesting sidequests, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a very fun and enjoyable video game.
EASTER EGGS: 10/10
There are also quite a few Easter Eggs in the Game, such as the appearance of both Link and Samus, the Starfox and F-Zero Racers, as well as a curtain to change mario back to his 2D NES Version, and of course Boosters Box of Nintendo Dolls. Its these little touches which truly give the game its own unique style, making Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars as fun and enjoyable as possible.
DIFFICULTY: EASY
The Game is incredibly easy to play through, sadly (you can beat the game at level 3!) which is the only downside to this otherwise incredible game. But Hey, you know what they say, there is no such thing as the perfect game.
BUY OR RENT?
You should Buy Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Definitely. The way this game is, after you play it, you will never want to stop playing it, it is that much fun. When playing it, however, just remember you have a Family, a School, or a Work that you need to care about, don't let this game make you forget about them.
IN CONCLUSION
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is the best game of all time. With many things to do, Battles to Fight, People to meet, and yes, Stars to collect, this game is truly deserving for the title "Best Game Ever".
