"Zelda clone is amusing and challenging."
The Ocean-made sequel to the "Adddams Family" game is actually better than the original. In this installment, It's up to Uncle Fester to find the missing baby Pubert in the huge estate of the evil Nanny. Fester has his family along to help in the search by giving clues and items. Fester will have to use both brains and brawn in order to get his nephew back.
The game is much like Link to the Past, except harder and not as good. There is an overhead view of Fester and instead of hearts to gauge life, you have skulls. Fester doesn't have a nifty sword, instead he uses HP associated lightning attack, with more HP meaning more range. The game isn't a button mashing type, thank goodness, but this has been seen many times before. (Gameplay 6/10)
The game has great music, which sets the tone well. It's not the type you'd get sick of, but it does fade into the background after a while. The greenhouse music sounds earthy, the water scenes sound aquatic.(Music 5/10)
This is one of very late SNES games, so it battles expectations, and in terms of how things look, it's quite average. The plant creature looks OK, Fester looks good, but it's also a Zelda clone in how the baddies look. (Graphics 6/10)
The plot follows roughly the movie that the game is based on. A gamer would have to use his or her head in this, and there are amusing characters that Fester meets along the way. Some will help him, some will betray him. (Story 8/10)
I have yet to finish this game, but I've been getting farther. I think you could replay until you beat it if you do beat it, but then..I don't know. But the Zelda rip-off factor is also patently obvious, and this may deter gamers from wanting to see it through. That and it's very challenging for a game that isn't very original.(Replay Value 5/10)
