"As good as it gets for SNES shooters."

Space Megaforce, while looking quite similar to other shooters, is pretty unique. You definitely won't regret playing it.

--STORY-- 0/10
The story, like most shooters, doesn't matter much. Typical "Omg, invaders from space! Send our best flier to win single-handedly!". I really didn't pay attention. Stories in shooters don't matter 99% of the time.

--GAMEPLAY-- 10/10
The gameplay in Space Megaforce is awesome. You get an overhead view, which I much prefer over side-view. You start off simple, just a gun and some bombs. But what makes the shooting in this different to me is the variety of your arsenal. There are 8 different power-ups to your weapon, ranging from homing missile to a charge-up lazer. Tons of enemies, too. Some easy, some tough, all fun.

--GRAPHICS-- 9/10
For a shooter, these graphics are superb. The backrounds are constantly changing and moving, unlike most shooters. The levels aren't blocky and everything flows nicely. The levels are full of color and don't look like they were pasted on.

The design is awesome. Carefully placed objects in the terrain, great placing of enemies and great looking levels make this game much better than it's SNES counterparts.

--SOUND-- 9/10
The music is this game is mostly orchestral. When music is orchestral, it's either good or bad. In Space Megaforce, it's definitely GOOD. The music fits the levels and is easy on the ears. Compared to another SNES shooters, it's obvious how great the music is.

The sound effects are no wimp either. The gun fire and explosions sound semi-realistic and are never annoying.

--CONTROLS-- 10/10
They're so simple, easy and well done, it can't be anything but 10/10. Moving around is smooth, not clunky. Shooting is very easy too. A and Y shoot, B sends bombs. X changes how your gun works, like which direction it shoots and suck. Of course, you pause with Start, but no need to point that out really.

--DIFFICULTY-- 1 being easiest, it's a 6.
This is probably because I suck at shooters, but it was tough in the later levels. Overall, medium difficulty. Not too easy to be boring, but not too hard to make casual shooter players get frusterated.

--REPLAY VALUE-- 9/10
If you like shooters, you'll like this game. If you like this game, you'll want to keep playing it.
