"Fun for a Little While"

Thank goodness I got this game from my cousin, as it wouldn't have been my most intelligent purchase; although I did get Lester the Unlikely because my neighbor said it was supposed to be good...oh well. Anyways, I was 5 at the time, and was extremely with the old Road Runner cartoons, so I wasn't totally disappointed by this game as it was familiar.

Graphics: 7

Surprisingly, the graphics aren't all that bad. They are clear and don't interrupt with the gameplay, which is exactly what they're supposed to do. The backgrounds are the same throughout the whole level, which makes the level designs somewhat boring, but at least they're clear.

Gameplay: 6

It's the typical escape from the Coyote gameplay as seen in the cartoons. Basically every level has you running through past some obstacles until you reach the finish, which usually has the Coyote as a boss. The boss uses different weapons and strategies each time, so you should be careful to make sure you don't lose too many lives, but the strategies and weak points are easy to make out. The obstacles aren't really anything extremely special, but they aren't all that boring either. The largest flaw is that the gameplay is repetitive, which gives you no incentive to play the game for more than a couple hours.

Sound: 6

The sound doesn't even have any significance in this game whatsoever. The music for the levels isn't exactly good and catchy, but it isn't obnoxious and annoying either. The "beep beep" sounds could get on your nerves at times, but overall there are no problems with the sound.

Control: 6

Controlling Road Runner could get annoying at times, especially since he's so fast. Sometimes you'll find yourself running at the top speed, then all the sudden there's a weak section, or a cliff. When playing this game, also pay attention to the signs as they are useful and will give you more time to react to the upcoming obstacle.

Overall: 6

Nothing very special, but not horrendous either. Below is the list of the pros and cons to keep in mind:

Pros:
- Graphics are clear
- Some obstacles could be fun
- Boss battles are enjoyable
- ROAD RUNNER!!!

Cons:
- Sound and graphics aren't anything special
- Controlling Road Runner could get tedious
- Not much variety in terms of gameplay
- Some levels are complete mazes, and you'll get lost quickly

Road Runner: Death Valley Rally is an average game. I don't exactly recommend this game unless you're a die-hard fan of the series, or just collect cartoon games. If you do decide to get this game, don't spend more than 10 dollars on it.
