Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Review by gamerTai

"George lucas would cry at the sight of this game if he actually cared about his loyal fans."

Hello. Names GamerTai, but you can call me Tai. Now I know my title makes it seem like I hate this game. But I really don't. I had fun with it, I laughed, I cried, a almost broke my controller a couple of times. It was fun. Now first of all let me say that this game is hard. So before you assume and say that I just hate it cuz I can't beat it, read on.

Story 3/10: It follows the events of the movie. Never watched the film? Then why are you even on this board!? Go away and rent or buy the movie. I believe it has recently been remade or something. So it shouldn't be too hard to find. Anyways the reason why I gave the story a low score is because it was practically a direct retell. Doesn't change it at all. I mean sure Luke never gained the force by jumping around collecting small coins, and Han never fought a giant mace swinging robot thing so its not like it was exactly like the movies. But not enought to save the game.

Gameplay 5/10: Umm... Yeah. Gameplays alright. Luke was fun and entertaining to play as even if his laser was only good for killing Yeti things. But his lightsaber combined with a spin attack really allowed you to take those guys back to the frozen, swampy, or whatever kinda hell they came from. Han was... Han was how to say.. difficuilt to play as. It was either that you have to be accurate and fighting like that is hard when you can only shoot in a few directions or its that you do a spin attack when you double jump. Which would make certain parts in the game much easier. Its possible too. Just make it when you double jump Han shoots a barrage of bullets in each direction. Now for Chewie. Chewie is a chewbacca or however you spell it, is great fun. I like Luke more but Chewie is at least moving his fury ass and fighting like the bigfoot he was based on. Not to mention every now and then you'll drive a vehicle o

Enemies 6/10: A few of the enemies are actually from the movies or books, but alot of them are original. When did one of the characters ever fight a giant pulsating brain? Now back to the brain thing. Some of these enemies are so original, though in the case of the brain sometimes originality can be a bad thing. What were they on? " Lets have Luke fight brains. Everyone knows they'res floating brains in the jungle that Yoda lives on. " Yeti dogs, a giant green rancor frog beast, a half rhino half man beast, and a giant scaley cave demon. This game does have its share of awesome opponents, too bad alot of the boss battles are hard as hell.

Graphics 8/10: In the age of Wii's and 360's there are many games out that have astounding graphics. So I have to say that for its time this game had the graphics of a 360. Though the graphics werent great, for the time they were. Nice visual effects, and the ships are sometimes even 3-d.

Difficuilty 10/10: This game is hard. Hoth was hard, Yoda's planet was easy, cloud planet is harder then Hoth. This game is hard! enemies hurt you seeing dealing massive damage, and freeze so they can get numerous hits in. This is cheap and annoying. In one part of cloud city you have to jump from platform to platform. WHILE DOGDING FLYING STORM TROOPERS! The enemies easily knock you off the tiny platforms, and are super fast making it near impossible to outrun them. You can't just kill them all either cuz they will respawn over and over again. No stratagies are available either all because they move randomly. Past, present, and even future, they're will never be a day when this will be considered a good idea.

Summary: Great ideas, but poorly executed thus making this game pretty bad in my opinion. Now for the eternal question. Rent or buy? I'd say buy and thats only because I don't think you could find a place to rent this. If you do find a place, then rent it first.
