"A nearly identical game to the original Final Fight SNES port. The majority of the original release's problems remain present here."

After some time had passed from originally releasing Final Fight on the SNES/SFC, Capcom decided to correct some of the complaints fans were voicing. Rather than releasing a new, and more accurate port of the arcade game - the developers simply tweaked the original butchered product a bit and sold it to rental stores. At least they had the decency not to try and charge full retail price for it. Onto the review..

Graphics 9/10

Some of the flickering present in the original SNES port has been cleaned up. A couple of the backgrounds were touched up a little better to match their arcade counterpart. Lastly, Guy's presence and dialogue were inserted into the opening cut-scene and the countdown screen. Other than that, Final Fight Guy looks EXACTLY the same as the first Final Fight port.

Sound 8/10

You'll be hearing Guy's grunts, yelps, and similar vocalizations now. Cody's noises have, obviously, been removed to make way for the formerly excluded ninja. Other than that, nothing has changed.

Control 10/10

Surprisingly, I didn't come across the problems I mentioned in my review of the original Final Fight port. The enemy placement was changed up a bit, perhaps in some part to clear up the lag and strengthen collision detection.

Game-play 6/10

Gamers who were cheated out of kicking Mad Gear goons around with the trio's ninja option can rejoice. Two new item pick-ups have been added: a Jessica doll that gives you temporary invulnerability, and a Haggar/Guy doll that functions as an extra live. The enemy placement was altered some, most noticeably on the hardest difficulty. Other than that, you're basically playing the same game as the original Final Fight SNES port.

Re-play value 3/10

Face it, the only reason anyone rented this game was to play as Guy. Now that emulation is common place and there's Capcom Classics Collection 1 - there's no real reason to play this port.

Overall 6/10

Back when SNES games could still be rented, Final Fight Guy was something you'd check out once and never bother with again. Capcom really should have at least made all three characters playable, added the fourth level and boss in, or bring back Poison and Roxy. Now that the 16-bit era is long over with, Final Fight Guy is somewhat of a collectible. That would be the only reason I could ever see in buying it. Stick to emulation or buy the accurate arcade port included in Capcom Classics Collection part 1.
