"Like the main character's bike, this game starts out good, but ends up going downhill"

This game was one of the first to enter my SNES collection. Owning and loving Paperboy, I thought this game would meet its replayablility and fun. I was wrong. Not that the game is not fun, but, unless you have a friend to play with you, this game gets boring quickly. Being incredibly difficult, with suddenly appearing cars, impossibly fast dogs, and a frusterating grate monster, this game gives about 3 days of gameplay. Pretty poor indeed.

Gameplay-5/10- Riding your bike as a boy or a girl throwing newspapers doesn't sound like much fun. This game met that prediction. Riding around one side of the street just to run into your neighbor's care is not a fun activity. I found certain parts of the game to be very annoying, and some roads just plain impossible. One good point- breaking windows is a fun thing to do in this game, but it loses subscribers.

Graphics-3/10- Paperboy and the houses are the only things in the game that you can be sure what they are. Some people blurr together, and some points, the game becomes boring to look at. Exciting points are castles and haunted houses, although they're pretty poor artistry. Poor graphics overall.

Soundtrack-5/10- Same song played over and over. Usually, I will mute the TV. Sound affects are alright, some are annoying. Also, cars make no sound when they're coming, so try to stay out of the road when you can.

Replayability-2/10- After playing for half an hour, and not passing Easy Street, many players will become frusterated and want to knock out every person on their route. This type of gameplay is not fun and does not inspire a player to pick the game back up again. The poor graphics, sharp and loud soundtrack, and gameplay also lower the replayability level.

Characters-7/10- Papergirl is usually my choice, she is quicker and more nimble (or maybe I'm just imagining it). Even so, Paperboy is a good character. If not for the bad gameplay, these two characters are lovable. I truly liked Paperboy and Papergirl.

Rent or Buy?-Rent. Maybe once. This game is not worth the money to buy. Even so, I still play it now and then, and get frusterated at the subscribers. Buying this game may give you a new paperweight, but try it anyways. You could like it.
