"A fun game that suffers from awful graphics."

Doom on the PC was pretty awesome. It put FPS's on the map and made them extremely popular. Doom was always a favorite of mine. So when they made it for Nintendo, I was excited. Unfortunately, I kind of wished I wasn't as pumped as I was.

Gameplay: 10/10

It's Doom. That's really all that needs to be said to imply that it's fun. You have the same fast paced action with shooting Demons all over the place, exploring the amazing levels, and picking up weapons that you know define ass-kicking. Just as good as the PC version.

There are 5 difficulty modes which set the perfect amount of challenge in the game. "I'm to young to die" is easy enough to help out new gamers, while "Nightmare" will prove to be a tough battle, even for gaming veterans.

Story: 10/10

Basically, Demons attack a base on Mars after they arrive through teleportation experiments. After everyone except you is dead, you venture into the Martian base with nothing but your pistol and your guts which Demons just can't wait to take a bite out of.

Graphics/Sound: 3/10

Imagine you're looking in a mirror trying to notice anything wrong with your appearance. Now imagine I come in and dump a bucket of **** all over the mirror and you decide to continue looking for anything wrong. Not only is the mirror ugly, but when you notice something, you can't tell if it's a mole, or a glob of crap. That's essentially what the graphics did to this game. The world looks hideous, and you can't tell if you're looking at an enemy, or just the wall.

The sounds alright. They're all there from the original version (I think), but it's a couple steps down from the PC.

Controls: 7/10

The controls are alright, for an FPS on the Super Nintendo. Running and strafing while shooting can be a bit difficult though, and the controls are a bit sluggish. However, once you play the game for a little bit, you'll get the hang of the it

Play time/Replayability: 8/10
Should take you about 30 minutes to an hour to complete the 1st act and upwards towards an hour and a half to finish the final act. There's no save points, so be sure you have the time to complete a single act.

Replayability is pretty low. Once you complete the game, it just feels repetitive to play it again. Only die-hard Doom fans should play the game consistently after beating it, as there is no multiplayer or cooperative play.

Rent or Buy?: It mainly depends on how much of a Shooter/Doom fan you are. If you like shooters and are a fan of Doom, buy it. If you're new to shooters and have not heard of or have had little experience playing Doom, rent it.

Overall, the game was fun, but the poor graphics in the game made it just another port of Doom.
