Brunswick World Tournament of Champions
Review by JagDogger2525
"Bowling for all ages but has some flaws"
Brunswick World Tournament of Champions is a great game but the flaws make this bowling game an if-fy buy. Everyone should know that Brunswick makes some of the most popular, and many of them are the best, bowling equipment for years now. This Brunswick product might not be so popular. I have happened to find this in a stash of SNES I forgot that I had. I took it out and I wanted to try it out for old time sake. That is when I found some of the flaws.
Sounds - 10/10
The sounds when a new game is started are exactly like going to the bowling alley and how it should sound like (seeing that whoever has a Wii no longer goes to the bowling alley). From the rolling of the ball to pins falling over. There is one thing that I really love about the sounds in this game. When you hit the pins, there are different sounds from getting a strike to being way off of that strike and leaving some pins up.
Controls - 7/10
The controls are a bit confusing. From playing this game for a while, I have actually struggled trying to get to Quick Play and start a new game (not the directional pad, the button set-up). The controls for the new game itself is really good. Moving the player to how much spin the ball gets.
Gameplay - 8/10
The main menu has different modes of play. For recreation, Quick Play is the way to go. There is a customization stage in this game. I have to deduct one point for the lack of customization of the frontal area of the body and another point for the lack of gender change (The Graphics Section has more on this lack of customization). Other than that, the game play is fairly easy for being a bowling game on the SNES.
Graphics - 8/10
The graphics are great but there two small flaws in the graphics. The first is the lack of gender change. There is only one gender in this game. Male. The reason I brought this up because what if a girl wanted to play? There is no Female gender in this game unless she does not mind playing as a Male. This brings me to the lack of customization. There is one shot of the character where he has a beard. All the other shots of that same character, he has no beard. Coincidence? Who knows? This beard feature cannot be turned off.
Replay - 7/10
This game has good, not great, replay value that it is a bit hard to play it as well as selling it. Once you try this game, you may have the same problem I am having. Brunswick has a so-so game for the SNES. This may not be the BEST bowling game, it still goes in the decent games section.
Buy or Rent:
With the Replay, it really depends on if it is for a bowling fan or if it is for recreation. It is worth it while it is not worth it. It is a bowling game that is good but nobody else seems to want to play it.
Overall - 8/10
