"Frustrating game... It's okay, though, I guess"
Kid Klown is a short and unforgiving game that is REALLY frustrating, on my tenth try, I didn't even get past level three, but then again, that's already 3/5 of the game. :P
Gameplay - 7/10
At the beginning of each level, a timer starts before you even start walking, and that timer is a fire following a rope, and at the end of the rope is a bomb, and if the fire reaches the bomb, you'll have to redo the level.
Controlling your character is pretty easy. You're tilted at an angle where your front is the bottom right of the screen, so walking forward would be the down and right arrows, backwards (slow down, you can't walk backwards) would be the up and left arrows, and all the other stuff. I'm pretty sure the only other thing you can do is jump.
What your objective is on each level is to obtain four things you can collect by jumping on strings of random balloons floating everywhere and reach the end of the level without running out of HP (health points, run out of these and you'll lose a continue). If you don't collect the four things, you'll have to redo the level. Stinks, huh? :X
Graphics - 8/10
The graphics are actually pretty good for a SNES game, if you're in a forest, you'll be able to tell by the scenery, same goes with every other place you're in.
Sound / music - 6/10
The music isn't that good, nowhere near hum-able. The sound, eh, in my opinion, I actually think it's better than the music.
Story - 7/10
The story actually follows SOMEWHAT along the lines of a Zelda game... Barely. Okay, not really, just the princess part. At least it starts that way, it's just served differently. Okay, so there's this clown, Blackjack, who steals the princess of some clown kingdom, and the king sends Kid Klown, that's you, to save her (note, you're a klutz that messes up on a lot of things). So you board a spaceship and you go to attack Blackjack's spaceship, but you accidentally press the self destruct button. Whoops. Now you're trekking on a path to save the princess.
Difficulty - 8/10
This game is hard! It gets hard at level three, the lava level, where this bridge starts collapsing behind you... And don't get my started about level five, it's even harder in hard mode.
Replayability - 9/10
Actually, the replayability is really good in this game. There are three different endings, one being bad, one being bad for you, and one being good. All endings are affected by gameplay. After you get the good ending, there's going to be a hard mode you can play. I haven't beaten hard mode, nor will I probably attempt to beat it any time soon, but dayum, hard mode is HARD. The timer probably goes THREE TIMES as fast! Hard mode endings may be different, I don't know.
Overall - 7/10
Kid Klown isn't that good of a game, and it's not that bad of a game either. I don't see any major flaws anywhere in the game, other than the fact that it's kind of short.
