"Compared to the other Megamans, this is trash."
Megaman X3 is decent, but it also seems like trash. The second I started playing this game I knew it wasn't going to measure up to Megaman X or even Megaman X2. This game has some good points, but the bad points just cover them all up. It almost seems they rushed on making this game. Every second I play this game I think about how much better Megaman X2 was.
Gameplay: 6/10
All of the same stuff as Megaman X and X2. Use your X Buster to kill robot enemies. Destroy the bosses, get their weapons. Use that weapon to destroy another boss. Repeat. Sounds boring, but it's not... This game for some reason though doesn't seem as fun as the other two.
There is a slight difference, though. Now you can control the all-mighty (well, when you first play...) Zero. It's actually cool for a little, then you play for a few more seconds and find out you're back to the blue bomber. Well, it's good when you first start playing... Also, there are new worker bots and new upgrades and other stuff... but those things just don't make this game more fun.
The bosses are pretty dumb, too. Two of them seem to almost be the same thing except maybe size and one extra attack. Remember in the first Megamans those bosses just jump and shoot a projectile at you? This is almost the same.
Graphics: 6/10
This is a toss up. A lot of the same pictures as from the other Megamans, and a little more. Your X Buster looks better. The bosses have a little more detail, but not much. The bad part is that the bosses have a different ''mood'' than the ones in the previous Megaman's. I don't know, maybe it's just me. They don't seem to be drawn the way the other Megaman bosses are drawn. Plus a lot of the bosses and enemies seem to only have a few frames... One of the bosses just stands there looking at you while he's crunching Megaman into bits - with only a few movements of his body. That's bad.
Sound: 7/10
All the same stuff in Megaman X and X2. Everything matches with what they should be. Nice explosions, nice shooting noises. The sound seems to be very quiet compared to the music, though. By the way the music...
Music: 2/10
Oh god. They changed the instruments for the music. This changes to mood of the game, too. Megaman 2 for Gameboy had better beeps and bops than this. The music is short (meaning repetitive) and sets a mood that almost depresses me. You hear that one instrument over and over again. This music doesn't get in my head.
Difficulty: 6/10
Like many other of the Megamans, it's very hard, then very easy, if you know what I mean.
Replay: 1/10
I can't blame this game for having low replay value. All Megaman's do. This one is lower because the music is so bad.
Well there you have it: a big disappointment. Don't buy this game. Don't rent this game. Don't even download this game. It's trash, pure trash.
