"Overlook the name..."

General
Spanky's Quest is a game featuring a monkey names Spanky as it's main character. Though the game may sound ridiculous so far, wait until I describe the rest. You use bubbles that transforms into sports balls to attack enlarged fruits. Weird, isn't it? It's not as bad as it may sound though.

Graphics (7/10)
Though the graphics are the quality and color content of your average SNES game. However, the graphics are very clear, and you can even tell the difference between all of the fruits (also known as enemies).

Sound (4/10)
Spanky's QUest has some excellent sound, though it doesn't match what is going on in the game. It matches it faintly, but it's far, far away from being a perfect match.

Controls (9/10)
The play control in Spanky's Quest is very basic with simple commands. It's a set of easy controls.

Challenge (5/10)
The challenge of Spanky's Quest is that of your everyday SNES game. It's a little hard, but not too difficult.

Storyline (3/10)
A very odd storyline indeed. A witch apparently casts a spell that creates a dungeon around you as you are taking a stroll in the forest one day. (I guess you were looking for bananas or something on your stroll through the forest.)

Battle System (6/10)
I kind of like the battle system, as unusual as it is. You can charge up your attacks into attacks that will knock out everybody, or deal lethal damage to one monster.

Game Length (5/10)
The game is the average length of a SNES game of its type. The game could have been longer, but who knows why it wasn't.

Replay Value (4/10)
The game is certainly not nearly as fun when you play it through for the second time. It's still fun to play Spanky's Quest over again though.

Gameplay (8/10)
Spanky's Quest is very fun, despite all the odd, unusual creatures and attacks I've mentioned throughout the review. The courses are all fairly different, making Spanky's Quest much more fun then it sounds.

Originality (10/10)
Who couldn't resist calling this game original? It's ideas have never been seen before, and will probably never be seen again. Spanky's Quest is very original in its content and concepts. I love that part of the game.

Overall (5/10)
Overall, Spanky's Quest is an average game. It's original concepts and unique levels make it very fun. The parts Spanky's Quest lacks is graphics, sound, storyline, and challenge. Overlook those four items, and you get Spanky's Quest being a fantastic game. I would rent Spanky's Quest first to see if you are able to beat in it's rent time, then buy it.
