"One Of My Favorite SNES Games"

Introduction

''You awake on a slab in the city morgue.''

A direct quote from the back of the box. And a great quote to set you up for this game. As you can see by that quote, your dead supposed to be dead. You'll find out exactly what happened as you play the game. Of course, after this attempted hit...your left with no former recollection of who you are. The game leads you through a fun and entertaining, if not deadly, journey to find out exactly who you are, and to get revenge on the man who had the hit out on you. Of course, figuring out just who you are isn't to easy. You face numerous challenges through out the game. The living dead, Orcs, gang members, etc. All of them pose a threat to you, and all of them will try to take you out somehow.

Graphics - 9/10

Shadowrun's graphics definitely aren't the best on the SNES if you compare it to games like Donkey Kong Country, or other RPG's like Super Mario RPG. Now, although not the best, they are still very detailed(especially for 1992), albeit a bit dull. Dull in terms of color. There isn't a whole wide color scheme going on. Most of the time you are out on the streets and see grey buildings, grey roads, etc. But the colors are realistic, so you can't complain. The Orcs will brighten up your day though. Probably the only real problem with graphics are the small items. Some small items blend in with the floor and are very small and hard to click on. But text comes up whenever you scroll over an item you can interact with, so it isn't to difficult.

Gameplay - 10/10

This game is all about gameplay. This is one hell of a fun game. The game is also challenging. You won't be able to whiz right on through this game in an hour or two. It'll take a little time. You have to talk to people, get clues, etc. The control takes a bit of time to get used to, as you control a cursor at times. Like when you shoot, or select an item on the screen, a cursor will pick up and you will have to scroll where you want to aim/look. It takes some time getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it.

Audio - 8/10

Audio isn't exactly Shadowrun's most outstanding feature. The music isn't the best. Although the sound effects are well done. But the music will grow on ya I guess. If not, just be like me and throw a CD in the old CD Player if you don't like it.

Replay - 8/10

Although the game is somewhat linear and straightforward, it still has some good replay value. Maybe I like going around shooting up the business men who are jerks to you? Is that so wrong? You may find it fun too! Anyways, this game is still fun even after beating it. It's just that damn good. It is the game...duh.

Overall - 9/10

Overall, this game is great. Without a doubt, one of my favorite SNES games. Many who have played this game, have love it too. It isn't your typical fantasy RPG. It is a futuristic, computer-type RPG with a little magic thrown in. Very fun, and very entertaining. I highly suggest picking this game up somewhere if you can. It isn't overly popular, so it shouldn't cost to much. Maybe check out Funcoland, or Ebay.
