"Not bad, but nothing special"

I’m don’t want to talk, so let’s just start this review. There’s nothing to say, anyway…

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics were pretty good. Not spectacular, but still pretty good; the characters had lots of detail. All the characters and obstacles were done well and cartoony just as the show, but the backgrounds weren’t that great. I guess they were meant to be cartoonish, but they went a bit too far, and weren’t very pleasing.

Audio: 9/10
I actually enjoyed the music very much in this game. The first level wasn’t great, but as it went on it just seemed to get better and better. By the time the last levels came around, I really liked it, and it made you get into the game a little more.

The sound, on the other hand, wasn’t as good as the music, but still pretty damn good. They could’ve been a tad more realistic, but you can still easily tell what’s going on from the sounds. You even hear some occasional voices, like that annoying “Stimpy…!” Other sound wasn’t as annoying. There was crashing lamps, pouring potions, and spitting water, which again, sounded pretty good.

Gameplay: 6.5/10
Well, there are a variety of levels to choose from, but it’s not so great. You begin the game playing as Ren, and after playing plenty of levels you get to use Stimpy. I think there are four or five different parts, so Ren plays the first two and Stimpy plays the rest. You can’t do too much, since there aren’t any button combinations of any sort. You can grab, slap/lick (yes, lick), and jump. And throughout the game, you can get certain power-ups that boost some ability for a little while, or adds a whole new ability for a brief moment, such as getting toast to make you invincible. All in all, there isn’t too much, and it’s pretty average, if not a little bit over.

The Final Word
If you’re some kind of hardcore Ren & Stimpy show fan, you could try this game out if you wanted to. Not many people have really heard of this game, especially now since Super Nintendo has long since died on the market (but it’s still the best). But if you don’t really like ‘em or haven’t even heard of the show, it’s not really worth playing, unless you just want to go out and spend cash. After all, FuncoLand probably sells it for less than 5 bucks. So if you want to, go out and try this game out, or else there’s not much reason to. But it’s still a pretty good game.

Final Score: 7/10
