Ys III: Wanderers from Ys
Review by Vegetaman
"Excellent craftsmanship... A must have!"
Well, here it is:
Gameplay: 10/10
This game is awesome. It's not the easiest game to come along, and that makes it all the better. The controls are ok. It has a strange way of selecting weapons, armor, items, rings, shields, etc. You just have to be able to move, and swing the sword. It may sound easy, but it's a lot more complicated than that. This game is a prime killer for people who say they don't have to save their game. Since if you die... you start over again from where you saved. The game has 5 save lists, and 3 slots per list, giving you great saving possibilities. If you have that little brother who like to delete your games, hide them on another list so he can't find them. As for the controls, not bad. Could be a bit better, but they are good none the less! It makes for some really great game play!
Story: 10/10
The tale starts out as Adol (you) and your traveling companion (Dogi) return to Dogi's hometown of Redmont as they hear there is an evil plague there with things like mysterious weather, bad crops, and rising prices have made it a bad place to do business or to be. Thus begins another adventure in the land of Ys... You are Adol, the youth who always searches for adventure. He has traveled throughout the land of Ys helping those in need. Quite an interesting plot. Lots of locked doors and hidden places that if you don't go in, you don't win. As you talk to people and find certain places, you gain a greater understanding of the game. It makes the story all come clear!
Audio/Video: 10/10
This game has my favorite music. Not only is the background music the best, the sound effects are great too! The graphics are good and show pain-staking detail and the game never glitches because of to many enemies on the screen or anything! Truly amazing graphics and sound!
Replayability: 10/10 YES!
This game is definitely a game that draws you towards it. Even if you hate it, it has the same effect on you. You always want to play it. When you beat it, you yearn for more, and more you have. You can never really stop playing this game, even if you find all the secrets, you'll always come back for more!
Buy/Rent: YES!
This game is a must have! I have seen it for 7-12 dollars, and if you see it, definitely get it. Not many games of this caliber exist! If a game store still carries this game to rent, definitely rent it!
Glitches/Problems: NO!
This game doesn't have any glitches at all. All it has is a wide world of secrets!
Miscellaneous:
If you want to have a good time on a ROM or on your Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), then this game is a good choice for you. Even though some RPG's are boring, this one is definitely not! You're guaranteed the best time of your life when you play this game… or when you play it again! This game is fun for any age, and with 15 save slots, the whole family can enjoy!
Don't delay, play today!
