Ultima: The False Prophet
Review by Vegetaman
"A little bland, but not to bad"
Gameplay: 6/10
The gameplay isn't that great. It is fun, none-the-less, but as far as an excellent game goes, it's missing a bit. The controls are simple, using the control pad to move in 8 directions, and using an inventory list isn't that bad. The Karma system isn't that good... actually, it stinks. You gain experience and Karma, and when you meditate at a shrine, you may build your level. If you do things against that shrine, like steal, you won't be able to gain Levels. Not the best game in the world, but ok.
Story: 9/10
The story is good. The game begins as you are looking out a window looking at a circle of stones, waiting for the gate to Britannia to appear. You think back about your friends, and what all has happened in Britannia. You notice something is happening with the stones, so you go to investigate. You are standing at the circle of stones, and a storm rolls in. Without warning, a lightning bolt comes out of the sky. It races towards the very spot you are standing - the circle of stones. It hits its mark, and a red moongate appears. You decide to enter and discover you went to a demon world, but soon your friends save you from death, and you go to Britannia to start your new journey! Like I said, not a bad story at all.
Audio/Video: 7/10
Sound isn't that great, as it is played through out the entire game. The sound effects are good, as a different sound for everything. The graphics are ok, but not exactly what I would call... ''A work of art'', but they aren't that bad!
Replayability: Occasionally
When and if you beat this game, you probably won't want to play it for a little while. It can be rather boring most of the time. Once you beat the game, you beat it, that's about it!
To buy/rent: Yes
If you come across this game, you should buy it, but I do recommend renting it first. I've seen it in game stores for 10-15 dollars, and about 20 dollars on the net. It is a good buy though!
Glitches/Problems: Few
The game freezes occasionally. There also is a problem when it is night time and you are fighting a monster. It has a tendency to freeze, or go fuzzy. Still, few glitches!
Miscellaneous:
This game requires alot of time and patience. It's not as much of an RPG as it seems. Level gaining is messed up really, but still, not bad. Only 1 save slot, so not much there.
Don't delay, play today!
