"One of The Top 20 RPGs For Sure!"

First off, I must mention that Squaresoft DID NOT MAKE BREATH OF FIRE! Capcom made the game and released it in Japan in 1993. Then Capcom requested that SquareSoft translated Breath of Fire to English, and surely they did.

Anyway... Here is my hopefully helpful third review for GameFAQs..

Gameplay 9/10
At first glance, this game may not be fun.. Once you take a deeper look, this game turns out to be fun. As with all Breath of Fire games, you eventually get to morph into a dragon form, which is always fun. In my opinion, completing this game was very fun. The biggest problem with the game is the crappy translation. SquareSoft did a terrible job translating it. Most everything is abbreviated to the point where it is almost unreadable. Still, the game is fun to play with the dragon morping technique, and the characters are familiar. Ryu, Nina, and others may stick in your head from other games in this series which are surely included in this great game.

Story 8/10
The story is a good one.. You start out in a house burning in flames.. It gets much deeper as time goes on.. Its not the best story, but a good one which fits the game perfectly.

Graphics 9/10
The graphics are better than great for Super Nintendo graphics. The houses look nice, the characters look nice, and most notabaly, the monsters and the dragons! The dragons look really nice. The monsters have good details and vibrant colors for the Super Nintendo. The graphics may not be as detailed as in modern day platforms, but I really enjoy 2D graphics alot which reminds me of all of the great classics.

Music/Sound 10/10
This game has very good music that fits every situation perfect. I do not know who composed the music, but whoever it was, he/she/they did a great job. Good examples of good music the fits the situation are:

Forest Theme - During travels trough the forest (duh!!) Anyway, this has a mysterious, sound to it.

Drogen - This song you hear in the very first town, Drogen. Very depressing music, because the town is, of course, destroyed.

Dungeon Theme and Agua Theme - These songs just want you to go out there and kill everything. Very jumpy, mysterious musical tones. Definately the dungeon theme.

OverWorld 1 - This is the best overworld theme that just wants to make you go out and travel the world. I liked this one a lot, definately with stereo sound!

Winland - This, in my opinion, is the best song in the game. Fits the situation PERFECTLY..

Ok, enough blabbering about how groovy the music is..! Don't worry, you should like the music along with the cool sound a lot like I did!

Replayability 7/10
This part falls short of everything else. Nothing much else to do exept level up and find all of the best stuff for all of the characters. Same old stuff with most RPGs. Didn't bother be too much though, the game was rather looooong anyway.

Difficulty: Medium to Hard
This game starts of very difficult, then slowly becomes easier. This shouldn't disappoint anyone, unless you are a beginning RPGer. If you are, I recommend the almost flawless Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Anyway.. You get the idea.

Overall, this game deserves a score of 86%, or in short, a 9/10. I recommend everyone reading this to go out and buy this rather rare game. I've seen it sell on Ebay for $50, so, good luck. I got my copy for $30 from a local store, or you could always borrow it from a friend.
