"This is for the SNES?!"
As you might know by now, the Megaman series is one of the most popular series ever. Its also my of my favorite series, next to Mario and CastleVania. This game has many secrets for you to explore through, which greatly enhances the replay value. Though I doubt you'll be able to find all of the secrets without using some kind of reference (like help from a friend or guide or something) its still fun to try.
Graphics - 10
Just like Megaman X2, this game uses the special C4 chip that allows cool 3d effects. That is why it took so long for this game to get emulated successfully. Capcom I believe is the only company that used the chip, and exclusively to the 2nd best system ever made, the Super Nintendo. Your X-buster looks very cool when you fully upgrade it, but I liked the one in Megaman X2 better because the first shot is faster. Way faster. Too bad there isnt any way to turn off your X-buster upgrades, though they look good they arent always very reliable in battles, especially the final boss. Hes too fast for your X-buster (the first shot). The second shot is much faster, and if you combine the 2 it performs a cool richochet thingy. The bosses suprising look amazing, I would think they would be running of ideas now, considering Capcom has made over 99 bosses for the Megaman series (including the X games).
Sound/Music - 9
The music is definantly catchy, but some I could do without. The sound effects are mainly just rehashed versions of Megaman X2, which also is rehashed versions of Megaman X, not that thats a bad thing.....
Gameplay - 9
If you have played any Megaman X games, you should konw your way around this one. Though this game does introduce alot of new factors, its basically more of the same, but you wont see me complaining. My only real complaint is that some of the stuff is impossible to figure out or find, without a guide, just like finding the Giga Crush in Megaman X2 without using a guide. I dont think anyone would be able to find the Gold Armor in this game without any help, unless your extremely lucky. The bosses are really hard in X3, but that just adds to the overall satisfaction when you finally beat the game, well actually I should say IF you beat the game.....
Challenge - 9
Definantly not the easiest Megaman X game. At first this game might seem possible, but after a while you should be able to beat this game without breaking a sweat....
Replay Value - 8
This game should satisfy your thirst your first 2 or 3 times through, but then It loses its magic. But of course all good things must come to and end.
Good Points
+Graphics
+Bosses
+Controls
+Storyline
+Difficulty
+Lots of Secrets
Bad Points
-Difficulty
-Not much Replay Value
-No Multiplayer
Overall - 10
Definantly the best Megaman X game for the SNES, maybe the best Megaman X game ever. One of the funnest games ever made for the SNES. Though it'll never beat Megaman 2, its really close.
