Review by Mike Truitt

"Rooby Rooby Roo!!!"

Scooby Doo Mysteries is based on the television show that airs every day on any cartoon station. Shaggy and Scooby have found their ways into a new more trouble. They go around finding clues while Velma solves the mystery, Fred helps find clues and figures out how to catch the monster, and while Daphne does.... absolutely nothing. Be careful, you never know what kind of trouble you will get yourself into.

Pros:

+ Intricate level designs
+ One of the few games based on a television show that is actually good
+ Extremely fun
+ Presents some good challenges
+ Really fun mini games
+ Great controls

Cons:

- Not enough levels
- Some clues are a little bit too obvious

Graphics:

Scooby Doo Mysteries visually resembles just about any other 16 bit game. 2-D graphics are the main base for Scooby Doo. The character designs are an almost dead on match to the cartoon characters. There are not too man unimpressive factors about this game. The only thing that is a downfall might be the background graphics, they are decent, but nothing too really brag about. All around Scooby Doo is a great game visually.

Graphics - 8/10

Sound:

If there was one thing that might be mediocre about Scooby Doo is the sound system. There is no talking, just subtitles at the bottom of the screen. The background music is just the classical jazztype music. A good thing about the bad sounds is they are not emphasized. The best thing about this game is in the sound though. Whenever Scooby runs into a wall or door you will hear the classic laugh of the ever lovable dog.

Sound - 5/10

Controls:

Just like many of the 16 bit game, the controls are very easy to learn, and get used to. Basically, you just walk around from level to level searching for clues. Scooby Doo Mysteries presents itself as a platform in many ways. There are many bars and books and whatnot that you will need to jump on and run across. If you are used to platform games then you should have absolutely no problem getting used to Scooby Doo.

Controls - 9/10

Game Play:

This is an extremely fun game to play. As soon as you pick up the controller you will become addicted to this game, and will not want to stop playing it until you have beaten the game. There are some of the best mini-games in any game for you to play in and complete to beat the game. Once you have completed the game the fun will not stop, there are always new things to find and complete, giving Scooby Doo a really high replay value.

Game Play - 10/10
Replay Value - 9/10

Originality:

I am not quite sure if there is any other mystery game for any system. Although you only find clues and don't even solve the clues, it still is a great mystery game. If you have never played this game, then you have never played any game that is like this on.

Originality - 10/10

Buy / Rent

Scooby Doo Mysteries is defiantly worth the ten dollars that you might have to cough up to buy this game. You will not be disappointed if you get Scooby Doo. When you do get it you will be happy that you did get it.
