Review by MI4 REAL
"Contains wormy superheroes, mutating dogs, a crow in a space suit...not your ordinary game..."
Earthworm Jim was a hit game for the SNES filled with craziness and odd enemies and levels for the wormy superhero to tread through to rescue the beautiful Princess What's Her Name. But first, you must beat her *twin* (yeah right) sister, a gigantic queen maggot bent on dominating the cosmos. Your mission, to find the queen, defeat her, and rescue the princess. You are going to love the ending, it's hilarious!
Also one more thing..They call it an ''Ultra High Tech Indestructible Super Space Cyber Suit'' in the instruction manual... But there are 2 enemies in the game that can bite the suit into 2 pieces...Guess they don't make Ultra High Tech Indestructible Super Space Cyber suits like they used to...
Gameplay-9
You start in a junkyard when you begin this rather unusual quest destroying crows, rabid dogs, and other odd enemies. Armed with your rapid fire space blaster, you tear them apart one by one and proceed to the next world. You tour the cosmos until you reach the Queens planet. Then you destroy her and save the princess, and the world. Sounds easy enough doesn't it? 3 difficulty modes.
Control-10
Controls are basic, not complex, although pressing B rapidly to use the worm copter to glide down might be just a little tiring to some peoples thumbs.
Graphics-8
The graphics are smooth as silk, and they make the world of Earthworm Jim as crazy and hilarious as it is. Nicely done by Nintendo and Shiny Entertainment here. You can see the flash on Earthworm Jim and his surroundings coming from the barrel of his gun (like real life) as he fires the thing full-auto.
Sound-9
Some of the music is a joy to listen to, and sound effects embellish the already hilarious world of Earthworm Jim (Try letting the one-eyed fish in Snot a problem get you..AAAAAAH!) Man what a laugh!
Playability-10
Fun for all ages and the game was debugged perfectly (except for some of the cheat codes, but that is supposed to happen with cheat codes, so NO problem in the glitch department, and hey, those cheat glitches make the game FUN!)
Replay Value-7
You will not likely be putting the game down after one play, the game is too hilarious to put down! This game is one of those ''play it once, and you have seen most of the game'' type games, but that doesn't hinder replay value here.
Buy? Borrow? Rent? Burn?
Rent it first is recommended, but this game is a gem, I say buy it.
