Review by DoomDan

"I would of liked it this game more if it had cheats."

Gameplay -- 8/10
The gameplay in this game is not as fun as most of the DOOMs. Probably because they made this game more easy and there's no cheats. Anyway, just like the other DOOMs, you have to go through levels filled with monsters and you have to find a way out. You, of course, have to kill the monsters and survive. The gameplay is also not so great because the monsters don't do much stuff like fight each other since you can only see the front side of them.

Graphics -- 1/10
The SNES DOOM has the worst graphics out of all the DOOMs. It has very low resolution, lots of slowdowns, no ceiling and floor textures, and you can see only the front side of the monsters.

Music and Sound -- 6/10
The sounds suck but the music kick's ass. The sounds are very dull and don't sound realistic. The music is great because the songs got a lot of beat to them. All of the sounds are from the PC version and the music are also from the PC version.

Story -- 8/10
You are one of the greatest soldiers there is. You were sent to the moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, when everyone there said they were being atacked. In the battle, all of your buddies were killed. Now it's up to you to kick all of the monsters' sorry asses.

Controls -- 8/10
The SNES controller is almost a perferct controller for DOOM. It just needs two more buttons to be perfect. The common buttons are for the common actions, and L and R are for straving. It sucks that the weapon cycle goes in one direction, although you can select weapons in the pause menu.

Pros and Cons
Pros: The SNES DOOM is almost the same as the PC version of DOOM since it has most of the levels and most of the monsters from it (some ports of DOOM are a lot different from the PC DOOM and the SNES DOOM matches it the most), music and sounds sound the same as the PC DOOM's, and weapons can be cycled while the game is paused.
Cons: NO CHEATS!!!!! No saving, no passwords, graphics suck, game is slow sometimes, some levels that are in the PC DOOM aren't in this game, sounds suck, and episodes 1 and 2 can't be selected in the easiest skill levels.

Replayability -- 1/10
There's nothing to do after you beat the game unless you want to play the game in the Nightmare skill but you wouldn't want to do that since there's no saving and no passwords in this game. The deathmatch in this game sucks and you need the game link, 2 Super Nintendos, and 2 SNES DOOMs to play it.

Overall -- 6/10
I liked it at first but after playing the PS-X DOOM, I relized that this DOOM port sucks. If you're going to buy DOOM, don't buy it for the SNES. Buy it for your PC or for PS-X.
