Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension
Review by Forum
"By far the best Dragonball fighter out there."
Dragonball Z Hyper Dimension is the pinnacle of all of the Dragonball games including those on the Playstation platform(in my humble opinion).
Story: 10
This game has an excellent story mode, beginning in the Freeza saga all the way up to the Buu saga. What's cool about this is that when you die agaisnt you're opponent instead of having continues, Kuririn is by the sidelines ready to give you a senzu bean.
Gameplay: 10
The gameplay is easy enough for beginners to catch on quick(I know I did), like the special ki blasts are all the same buttons, and most 3-d attacks are the same.
Some neat things are that you can knock your opponent into completely different scenes with the (X) button. (X) is just a measly chop that will block Ki Blasts, and a quick throw up close. You can knock your enemy up into the air, where air combat commences, or you can knock them over into a completely different area, either way it's kinda cool.
Unlike the Butoden series, your ki and health meter are the same, which is more like the series because you can power up your health.
There is 4 different modes to Hyper Dimension. You can duke it out with a friend on 2 player versus mode, or you can face the computer. Also you can face your friend(s) in the famous 8 player Tenkaichi Budokai mode.
Sound/Music: 9
Hyper Dimension uses the most amount of voice in a fighting game i've seen. Like Piccolo performing the Makankosappo, and his 90 degree attack(I dont know how to spell it) he shouts out the name of the attack. This is true for most characters, and some characters just sort of yell when they do the attack.
The music gets kinda boring after a while(In my opinion the Super Butoden Series had better music) and there's only a few good songs.
Graphics: 10
I've never seen anything like it for the SNES system. What amazes me is the small details, for example the scenes before the battle, Freeza starts in his first form and finishes into his fourth form! It's great!
Control: 9
The good controls make most of the moves easy to pull off(Except maybe the Devastation moves..)
Overall: 10
Buy it, download it, but for pete's sake don't skip it! I would recommended downloading it first, unless you've got the $$$ to buy the cartridge(Which is expensive!). Hyper Dimension will easily run you 100 bucks on ebay.
